They Tried To Make Me Go To Rehab, But I Said No No No! Updt 11/7: Solo no more Pg.27

As my plane makes its way towards the big blue sky, I say goodbye to Texas and firmly shut the window shade. I was prepared to take a nice, long power nap on the 2 1/2 hour journey to Orlando.

All by myself.

No children to keep entertained.

No husband to elbow in the ribs when he snored too loudly. ;)

No one asking every 10 minutes, "How much longer 'til we get there?!"

Life is good. Peaceful good. It was a wonderful, carefree state of mind. :cloud9: Up until the two ladies seated directly behind me decided to engage in a boisterous chat-a-thon, with a third one beside them trying in vain to squeeze in a comment here and there.

The man seated across the aisle from me nodded his head in their direction and rolled his eyes.

I desperately needed a nap at this point, knowing I'd be at EPCOT til midnight that day for EMH -- the commando had a full day planned (what? did you expect anything less? ;) )

So I tried to ignore the animated conversation going on behind me, and, to lull me to sleep, begin to count sheep in my head. Except that in my Disneyfied brain, the sheep gradually morphed into white fluffy Mickey head clouds!

I did eventually manage to catch some zzzz's, but not as much as I wanted, because I was suddenly awakened by the pilot's announcement that we were getting ready to land! :cheer2:

I quickly opened my window shade. I swear I caught an aerial glimpse of a waterpark (TL, perhaps?!).

It was a nice, smooth, uneventful landing. I gathered my belongings and headed to the airport monorail.

I just had to sit at the very front of the train on my way to the main terminal:

Getting closer now:

After I disembark from the MCO monorail, I pass by the Airport's Disney store:

I was tempted to check it out, but decided against it since I had an early EPCOT lunch ADR to catch. There'll be plenty of shopping opportunities later. :thumbsup2

Being a good Disser (and faithful transportation board lurker) I knew my way around MCO fairly well. It didn't take me long before I reached this:

I was at the DME area by 9:45am-ish, and there were no lines at all! I walked straight up to the desk where a nice CM efficiently checked my DME documents:
IMG_5551.jpg

He asked me where the boys were, as they were also included in the DME reservation. I replied that they'd possibly be here in a few days.

He told me that if I could, to call the DME toll free number whenever their flights were confirmed so DME would know approximately when to expect them. I was reassured by the CM that they'd be taken cared of since they had valid DME reservations. Now that is what I call first class customer service! :thumbsup2

I was then instructed to line up at queue #5:
IMG_5552.jpg

No lines in here: Yay!
IMG_5553.jpg

After a wait of 5 minutes or so, my DME coach arrives, ready to take me on my journey to OKW!
IMG_5554.jpg

I take a photo as the Magical coach pulls out of the airport:
IMG_5557.jpg

And in a little while, the ride video begins:
IMG_5556.jpg

I love watching the welcome video! It fill me with even more hope, excitement and wonder! Btw, the driver tells us that the videos are GPS/satellite controlled -- meaning they automatically turn on/off depending on the bus' current location. How's that for Disney Technology? :)

Finally, we reach the gates that I've been dreaming to see again:
IMG_5558.jpg

Howdy, Mickey -- I told ya I'd be comin' back to "see ya real soon!" :dance3:

Our driver informs us that our first stop will be:

So when I last left y'all, the Magical coach was driving into:
IMG_5561.jpg

As we pulled up to the entrance of OKW's Hospitality House, I marvelled at it's crisp, cheerful, bright colors -- just beautiful!:
IMG_5563.jpg

There's such a calm, laid-back vibe to the place. I love how the CM's greet us arriving guests: "Welcome Home!". I also think it's sweet how everyone gets Mickey stickers. Most of all, the warm friendly smiles on everyone, CM's and resort guests alike, made me feel like I were really "home".

I didn't have to line up to check-in, there were plenty of CM's open and available to help. Isn't the mural behind the front desk gorgeous?:
IMG_5564.jpg

While the CM was checking me in, I took a photo of the rest of Hospitality House/check-in area:
IMG_5565.jpg

I had requested a room close to the main building. The resort is large and spread out, and it gave me a sense of security, as a solo guest, being closer to the Hospitality House.

However, the only studio available at that time was waaaay out on South Point Road, the farthest one can get from the main building! :sad1: I asked the CM if there were any more studios that were going to be available at a later time -- I didn't need my room right away (please, please?!). And after a few minutes of searching on her computer, she finally came through for me and found me a studio on the second floor on Old Turtle Pond Road which was perfect in my opinion. :thumbsup2

For those of you who want a better picture of the OKW lay-out, here's a link to the property map:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/okwmap.htm

You see what I mean about OKW being spread out? ;)

The CM said the Turtle Pond studio would not be vacated by the previous guests until much later in the day, so I was given a phone number to call to check when my studio would be ready. I then purchased my Park tickets from the concierge in the front desk. I gave my carry-on bag to bell services for safekeeping...and walked to the bus stop hoping to catch one headed to:

Great report! I loved your last one with the boys in it, but am already really enjoying the (so far) solo angle.

One of my most anticipated ADR's was Le Cellier. I have heard so many positive things about it, plus it is one of the most popular Epcot restaurants per the (407)WDW-DINE CM's. So popular that last October, I tried to get a ressie here, but was told that they were completely booked on all the days we were there :(.

I made sure I'd get in on this trip ;) And I was able to secure an ADR for lunch at 11:45 am :yay: (no other ADR's were available after that).

However, that gave me less than an hour and a half to: 1)get on the DME bus, 2)travel to OKW, 3)check-in, get on the bus, and 4)run like mad through Epcot Future World to Canada!

And that I sure did do. Especially the running like mad part. Not good for one who tires out by merely watching the boys swim laps in the pool! ;)

So I finally get to
IMG_5567.jpg

With not a minute to spare! I was hot, sweaty, and short of breath. :faint: I needed to go to the restroom to compose myself. Meanwhile, the CM who checked me in told me that they'd find me when my table was ready. To which I jokingly replied, "Don't call for me in the bathroom, OK?" :teeth:

I got seated after a fairly short wait. The server was very nice, and I told him I didn't need time to look over the menu because I already knew what I wanted (thanks to the allears website) --

The cheese soup for my appetizer:
cheddarsoup.jpg

And the mushroom filet mignon as my main course! YUM!:
mushroomfilet.jpg

Both were excellent! Loved the texture and taste of the risotto served with the filet. The cheese soup was very creamy, simply delicious!

I skipped dessert, and I regret hardly touching the delicious pretzel bread. I was stuffed to the max! I asked my waiter how would I manage to eat dinner with the Princesses in Norway later? He wisely answered, "By walking around the World, of course!" :goodvibes

P.S. Did I feel strange dining solo? In all honesty, it was wonderful! I cannot remember the last time I felt this way. I had a nice, peaceful, quiet meal, and didn't have to worry about cutting/slicing the children's food, and not constantly nagging Jake to finish his meal (no problems with Sam, that boy can eat!). I savored every bite of the filet with no distractions.....I feel so :cloud9: just remembering that moment.

Here I am about to leave the Cellar:
IMG_5566.jpg

My favorite princess is Ariel, so for good luck I wore my Ariel shirt on the first day! :)

Up next:
Letting curiousity lead me.
Stay tuned :)

Thanks for the great update, Ariel's my favorite too. Do they still have the mussels with applewood bacon appetizer, it's wonderful & I think I read somewhere that they didn't have it anymore?

Oh so glad to hear you made your ADR! And a lovely meal! I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment! Oh and so glad to hear you enjoyed dining solo as well!

Allyson :)
