They took Remember Dreams Come True off the June Calendar?

Disneyland has no excuses. Note how the closing of Astro Orbitor has never been listed on disneyland.com - now weeks after it shut down. People planning visits should be able to depend on the official information Disney puts out on its own web site. Disney is usually quite slow to update the site, which is frustrating itself, but once the schedule is put up, it ought to be solid. If there's any event that is tentatively scheduled, Disney ought not to publicize it in the first place.

Oh, yeah, here's another visitor that will now (apparently) not get to see any fireworks, in addition to missing Fantasmic! :sad2:

ITA, perlster. I have tried not to be a negative Nellie about all the closures that I knew about going into our vacation, but to schedule it and then yank it away ... that is unconscionable to guests coming from far away and locked into plans. I am spending a buttload of money taking advantage of the 5/3 at the GC and, honestly, I regret it but I now feel trapped by DLR's cancellation policy. I'd switch to three days and a Good Neighbor hotel, if I had to do it over again.

I am going to remain hopeful that they are doing some minor tinkering and there will be fireworks of SOME sort that weekend.

I just called guest services to ask about RDCT fireworks show. The CM I spoke with said that it still showed on her calendars that the fireworks are scheduled for Jun 5-9 and she hasn't been advised that they are removing them. I told her that the online calendar does not list the fireworks any longer and she said that I was the first person to mention that to her. She advised me to check back next week to see if anything had changed prior to my arrival.

So now there's one CM saying it's still a go, and another (glendalais) saying it's a no-go.

Fabulous!

I do find it to be really weird that they never included AO on their list online.

I hate Disneyland...excuse me while I go write a letter telling them exactly that. This is a 2-bit bait and switch operation! From now on, it's DisneyWorld for me and my family!

I'm to the point that if I could afford to eat what I've already paid, I'd do it.

Okay, for the week of June 1 - 6:

1. One night closing early for Grad Night...not posted until after I booked.
2. No Astro Orbiter...never posted.
3. No fireworks...just posted, 2 weeks out.
4. No Fanstasmic...not posted until after I booked.
5. No Peter Pan...not posted until after I booked.
6. No Electrical Parade...not posted until after I booked.

Seems like I'm forgetting something! Hey, Disney, I get your message loud and clear: you only want locals to go to Disneyland...folks who can decide on Friday whether or not to go on Saturday. Don't worry, I won't bother you with my business ever again!

I am just still extremely grateful to be going to a place that some people only ever get to dream of.

It's a real bummer to be going what seems like it should be a peak time and then not to have all the parades and fireworks going! I am guessing crowds are still going to be somewhat heavy the first week in June since many schools are out at the end of May this year and many parents go the first week after school is out!

My DD, 2.5, is totally into peter pan right now and has been talking non-stop about that ride and it's closed too (opening the day after we leave).

If we weren't going the first week in June to accomodate our daycare being closed anyway and if we didn't have $69/night rooms, I'd change our plans and go after all the new shows open. It's the one thing I don't like about off peak at DL!

I REALLY hope there is a mistake and the fireworks are still happening! At least give me that!!!

That's not how I feel, because I have saved and saved for this trip AND it is my honeymoon....and I would have chosen a different date for my trip if I had known about the fireworks schedule. The fireworks is my very favorite part of WDW so that is why I really really want to see fireworks at DL. It does not make sense that they were posted on the online schedule, and then taken down. Which is it??? Oh well I hope the CM with guest services is right.

By the way, I thought the post from glendalais just referred to the fact that the fireworks was going to be down June 9 - June 10. The original schedule showed June 9 as the last time for RDCT. Then there would be a 2 day break from fireworks while preparations are made for the new show debuting June 12. This doesn't really explain why the fireworks were on the schedule and are now off.

ITA! :thumbsup2 Even when the fireworks are scheduled they can be cancelled at any time without prior notice due to weather. It's a vacation, I'd rather go with the flow at DL than be stuck at home working! :rotfl:

I recognize this and I AM grateful that we are going at all (as I said, we'd go anyway but downsize the trip). Nonetheless, it's hard not to feel fleeced by poor planning and/or indifferent management on DLR's part. I can't come back at the drop of a hat either, especially when my youngest turns 3 soon and my oldest turns 10 in 13 months. Both Disneys will become an infrequent thing for us because of prohibitive costs.

I posted this on micechat last night and a CM that works for Disneyland told me that as of last night it was still posted on the employee calendar. I hope it was just an oversight.

Ohkaaaay.

I live a couple states away as well, and I don't get the message you're getting at all. :confused3

OK didn't glendalais's sig used to say glendale CA as the location? And now it says Orlando? From the location and sig in the past I thought s/he was a current DLR CM and tried to take the things s/he said as CM fact...but now I'm confused.

It is a male cast member of Disneyland who lives in the Glendale area. He will be moving to the Orlando area to work for WDW. Anything he and Albort say I usually believe. They both have inside sources and can be around CMs from various departments that know things.

I hope that clears up things.

Electrical Parade never runs the first week of June and the closing of Fantasmic! for a major refurbishment has been well known for a long time.

Unfortunately, Disneyland can't just switch from one fireworks show to another overnight. There is equipment that needs to be switched out and new equipment that needs to be tested, and Disney tries to do it in as little time as possible.

It is a risk you take going during the off-season, especially the week before they need to get everything open for peak summer.

So those pics I took while watching the Electrical Parade on Sunday, June 1 last year are a figment of my imagination?

I don't know about other years but you are wrong about 2008.

Don't understand why you'd defend Disneyland for this...their original schedule showed the RDCT fireworks through June 9, then two days off to prepare for new fireworks, which would premiere June 12. Why would they post that schedule, then a few weeks later remove the fireworks from June 5-9???

Because, quite possibly, while they attempt to make the transfer from Remember to Magical as quick as possible, they might have learned that it cannot be done so quickly. The same way some times ride rehab dates change.

I completely understand that it takes time to switch to a new show. I have absolutely no problem with that. What disappoints me is that I scheduled my trip for the first week based on the information on the website at the time that showed a fireworks show on the weekend without any current refurbs. So to find out a mere few weeks before our arrival that the show is no longer on is a tad disappointing.

Am I angry - no. Just sad:guilty:

And I understand being sad, and even disappointed. But to be angry...not worth the time. Life is too short and I am going to Disneyland. The happiest place on earth for me, fireworks or not. :goodvibes

Sorry, you are wrong, wrong, wrong! How do I know? On our last trip, which stretched from the last week of May into June, we saw the MEP. In fact, everything was up and running at the time.

In considering this trip, I was surprised to find that Disneyland now posts schedules only 6 weeks in advance. When I contacted Disney about this, way back in February, I was assured that the first week of June is a wonderful time to go as everything is up and running but schools in CA haven't let out yet, so attendance is a bit lower.

Feel free to be the knight on shining armor coming to Disney's defense, but know that you're on the wrong side of this argument!

The first week of June is definitely the high season - as the hours of 8 to 11 or 12 demonstrate. The lack of nighttime entertainment is therefore really disappointing.

I spoke with a CM from Adventures by Disney today and she said that their calendars show fireworks at 9:25 every night June 5-9. I told her the Disneyland park hours website does not show parades and she said "hm that's weird. I never look at the website. I just look at our internal calendar."
Who knows why they took it off the website but at least for now it sounds like the CMs think there will be fireworks.
