They took Remember Dreams Come True off the June Calendar?

Sorry, you are wrong, wrong, wrong! How do I know? On our last trip, which stretched from the last week of May into June, we saw the MEP. In fact, everything was up and running at the time.

In considering this trip, I was surprised to find that Disneyland now posts schedules only 6 weeks in advance. When I contacted Disney about this, way back in February, I was assured that the first week of June is a wonderful time to go as everything is up and running but schools in CA haven't let out yet, so attendance is a bit lower.

Feel free to be the knight on shining armor coming to Disney's defense, but know that you're on the wrong side of this argument!

I believe you :) I bet that this is all due to budget cutbacks. Park hours are long starting in May/June so that people will spend more time in the parks, but not all attractions are running yet so Disney can save some $$$ during the first week of June/last week of May.

I wouldn't get too worried. I've heard that their WILL be fireworks at least on the 5, 6 and 7th. I believe it will actually be the new fireworks show that they want to test on those days to see the crowd reaction and check the timing of how things go. Because this is the new fireworks show, they are not listing it on the calendar since it's kind of a test -and the new fireworks show does not "official" start until June 12... so there should be fireworks, just not the current show.

From the Al Lutz column at Miceage.com today

They've also begun testing of the new lighting and special effects to be used for the Magical fireworks show. We'd told you a few months ago of the tentative plan to use a flying Dumbo in the new show, sharing cable time with Tinker Bell. While the Dumbo puppet has not yet made its debut on the wire, they have been running through the flight pattern it will take on the cable system using sandbags in place of the elephant. The new Magical show should debut in the park with full dress rehearsals at 9:25 PM on Wednesday, June 3rd, with additional dress rehearsals planned for the evenings of the 5th and 6th. The confetti cannons and new lighting effects are coming along nicely, and the early June dress rehearsals will really be more about timing and crowd response than equipment tests.

So there will be fireworks, just not RDCT? So the parks close at 11 and the lucky people who are there those nights get to see the NEW firework show's dress rehersal. That sounds awesome to me.

It is a male cast member of Disneyland who lives in the Glendale area. He will be moving to the Orlando area to work for WDW. Anything he and Albort say I usually believe. They both have inside sources and can be around CMs from various departments that know things.

I hope that clears up things.

His location already says Orlando. If he's already there, then it's not the "live from DLR, straight from the CM's mouth" kind of info many of us enjoy. But I look forward to seeing his info on the WDW forums, most definitely!

I just do'nt think there's any right or wrong side to be on here. I personally schedule trips for when we can go, and try to not look at calendars too much (and if I do, I take it ALL with a grain of salt), because I try to remember (try try try) that anything can change right up to the last moment.

I also am very aware at how AWFUL the disney websites are, and feel that the CMs for the sites should all be put into different positions, and they can first off hire me and hubby, LOL. Me b/c I know what a good website looks like and functions like, and hubby b/c he could make it. Then others could be hired, of course. We're just nice like that. :rotfl:

Anyway, b/c their sites are so awful, I never expect them to have perfect information. To expect that from them would be, well, un Disney site-like.

I also don't trust what any one CM says...except when it's Albort (or Cheshire Figment for WDW), and that's just b/c I've seen them post so much good info in their own words for so long... but even they could be wrong!

Although I might stamp my feet a bit in annoyance if something I wanted or was expecting goes off the schedule, I feel that it's their park, it's their safety, etc etc...I think that we might have *different* opinions, but no one is right or wrong in an objective way. It's all very subjective.

It has been the long-running joke in our household that Disney's IT department NEEDS my DH to ship their website travesties into shape. Well, I am not actually joking when I say it but DH stubbornly refuses to act on it. ;)

This is pretty much the scenario I envisioned when I said I was holding out hope that they were just doing some tinkering. Thanks for posting the info!

I have known Gledalais from another site that I am not with. Maybe two years now and he is accurate and only reports what he knows. I trust him and if he finds out from a CM only Disney run site news about DLR then I will believe that also. I wish I had got to meet him once before he moves but I do not hunt CMs.

I actually can answer this. The different Disney park websites are run by different depts and not just IT. IT assists them but they are not run by them. They've consolidated their IT dept so they are basically running out in Celebration, FL. They have a few still out here in Glendale/Burbank but not many. I knew a few of the people that were in charge of the information and design of specific Disney park websites and their budgets have been cut, not just cut a little bit but off the books where they have NO money whatsoever. I know that specific sites were going to have a major upgrade but they all lost their budgets and in the process these people also got laid off. All IT does is make sure that the site is running but as far as the information inputted and the management of the site(s) is done by other depts.

Well at least we get some fireworks, it would have been nice to see RDCT one more time for us annual goers but oh well.

Is there anyway they would like to do a dress rehearsal of the HOLY THREE? Fantasmic!, Electrical Parade, and the new firework show? I say write your local congressman....scratch that....your non-local disneywebsite....and tell them we demand our Summer Nighttastic now. Hey they already changed the website for RDCT why not just move up all the night entertainment?

Alright I'm off to the disneyland website under "contact us" at the bottom page.

Back to reality....I hope the dress rehearsals are right as it will be nice to see the fireworks show during a weekday.

On these dress rehearsals do they post them on the schedule they hand out when you enter the park?

It's sad that they are running on no budget and experiencing layoffs, but, even in better times, Disney has not put the dollars into systems and web development that they should so I expect it is going to get worse rather than better in the short-term.

Just to be clear, I was using "IT" as a general umbrella term. My DH works in software systems R&D with only a peripheral connection to the IT crew so I do understand the distinction. :-)

Well if we might get a sneak peek of the new fireworks that would fabulous!! :) Fireworks of any kind will be great.

Well and in regards to those of us who plan ahead and live out of state - it is hard to plan and time so that everything is up and running but it seems like many of us assumed early June was the start of summer season. Plus, Disney didn't even announce the new fireworks, lighting of Pixie HOllow, etc. that long ago did they? A few weeks ago is all?

Also, Fantasmic! will have an unadvertised public preview at 9.15PM on June 11th. Yes, this is after the park closes that day. Guests will be able to remain past closing to watch the show. The Fantasmic! dessert package, however, is available for this night.

Gosh, I hope you're right! Maybe I need to change my signature to "The Disneyland Webmaster sucks!" I sure hope so!

Thank you for the good news! Disney is lucky it has dedicated fans like you who get out the good news for them. They aren't doing such a good job of it themselves!

Disney will likely not advertise dress rehearsals because they are extremely subject to cancellation or disruption (i.e. the show might stop half-way through).

Last year during the same first week of June they had Fantasmic!, RDCT, and the Electrical Parade all running on the weekends. I know we plan our vacations somewhere around the five to six month mark. Unfortunately at DL you really don't know what's going on till the month before hand.

I hope they do run one of the fireworks shows for all of those of you who planned their trips to inc. Fireworks.

I did hear last week a little about the new show. Tink will fly and land and then Dumbo will fly. Sounds cool to me. Mabye I'll have to try to be there on one of the soft days.

The month beforehand thing is fine if you are within driving distance or an $80flight away, but for the people who have to fly halfway across the country (like you and I do) or even worse, halfway across the world, who are not served by Southwest, Jetblue and/or Virgin airways and therefore do not have competitive airfares to choose from, it is just unacceptable that DL doesn't get their website in order and plan or announce their plans sooner. All I can say is thank goodness they are showing something! :cool1:
It's just such a roller coaster ride of emotions. I was so sad for everyone going in early June a couple of months ago when it looked like nothing was on the calendar. Then I was happy for you all because it showed fireworks. Then I was bummed/irritated/pissed for you all because they yanked it off the schedule. Now I'm happy for you all again, but still irritated because they put everyone going at that time through the ringer! I still love Disneyland, but it is obvious that they do tend to cater to locals because of the lack of planning info. Not everyone can just jump in their car and decide to take a drive down to DL for the weekend or pop in after work. WDW knows their customer base, and knows that to fill all those thousands of rooms they need people from all over the world to come. And for that to happen, those people need to be able to plan many months in advance. Now I'm a little sad again. This realization makes me feel like chump change; like our business is not as valuable to DL. :( I'm sorry if this upsets locals, but that's how it makes me feel when this kind of stuff happens. I dislike when this happens to others because I dislike when it happens to me. I had something similar happen in the first weekend in January regarding F! not showing on the calendar past Dec 31. People tried to tell me it was off peak and that it's only one show of many things to do, but I've gone every year at that time for years and it always shows every day of the last few weeks of the holiday season through the first Sunday of January, and it's the one show I really  to see (next to the fireworks which is inconsistent due to weather). So for all going in early June, I understand your frustrations. :goodvibes I hope you all have great trips, take lots of pictures and post them up so we can se DL through your eyes! :goodvibes

I can understand the disappointment to a change in schedule, but I think it's really important to keep it in perspective as well. There are SOOOOOOO many amazing, wonderful things to experience at DLR.

When we planned our trip to WDW, which we had been looking forward to for over 10 years, I do not even think we check the refurbishment schedules. There was no point really. Things changes. We could have planned our entire trip around one thing and had something else happen.

Add into the mix that all of the planning in the world can't do a think about weather. The night we planned to watch one of the incredible outdoor evening shows at WDW was a gorgeous night. Literally 2 minutes after the show started, it started POURING. This So Cal gal does not like rain one bit. I won't go to the store if it's raining. But... that was our one night to see that show and we stood in the absolute downpour until it was over.

You could plan and plan and plan. You could have the perfect schedule worked out in your head, stand on Main Street for 2 hours for the ideal spot for fireworks and have them canceled due to wind at the last second.

I understand the excitement, anticipation, and stress in planning a big trip. Trust me. WDW was the first trip my DH and I have taken in 6 years and we pulled from savings to do it. Try to remember it is the overall trip, not just the fireworks show or Fantasmic that will make your trip.

Things change. Things break. Weather happens. And the one thing you really wanted to see (like the Country Bear Jamboree that I waited YEARS to see at WDW), can close during your trip - and it can still be an incredible vacation that you will cherish forever if you just roll with it since there are so many wonderful things to enjoy. THAT is the beauty of a Disney vacation.
