The builders turned up bright and early this morning and were soon digging the foundations for our new conservatory :)

Cool Tim! We want to see pictures of the progress!

I'd get some preservative onto the fence before the conservatory goes up too much more..

If you leave it until after its built, with the tight gap, you'll get horrible brown spots all over your nice new white conservatory !!

So, lets see a photo of that job done !!

Looks nice progress though for one day too.

...... when I saw the title of your thread I thought you were referring to Carol Singers :teeth: !!

I hope they get the job done by Christmas - lots more room for all the new toys ;)

Our new conservatory furniture arrives tomorrow - glad I havent got all that mess to put up with! Hope it all goes smoothly for you Tim :D :D :D

Wow, they're going fast. I like the way you guys do everything in brick over there--so pretty. Brick is so expensive here, that people will frequently only brick the front of their house, and put siding on the sides and back. I don't really like that look, but it's the only one many builders offer.

Hey Tim, they're building a log cabin over on the big community board. It's cool. Go check it out.

Keep them coming, Tim!

This is so much fun to watch :)

Do they take the weekend off?

Aloha,
Lorraine ;)

They are working Saturday morning (I've had to get up early :( )

Must admit these builders dispell the myth that builders spend all day drinking tea - they have worked very hard :)

Tim, I find it strange that they're putting up the outside walls without first putting in a floor. Is that normal. Maybe I'm just not seeing it right?

They started to put the floor in today. On Monday they will put the damp proof membrane down.

Here you can see the floor hardcore. I think they will put sand on top of this then the damp proof membrane and then concrete.
The damp proof membrane will extend over the inner wall, and the inner wall will then be continued to the same height as the outer wall.
I notice the builders have huge sheets of polystyreneas well - I guess this is extra insulation for the walls and floor :)

It's interesting how they build things differently over there. Will it have big windows? I'm so nosey. :p

It is fun to watch this getting built :)

Yes, Steph, it is amazing to see how differently things get buit in different parts of the globe :)

Keep the pictures coming :)

Aloha,
Lorraine
