These Are The MAYS Of Our Lives! V

Hi Jo!

Yikes! Sometimes I forget that people lurk. :scared1: I say some pretty personal things on here. LOL.

Hawaii is still up in the air. We said that if we can save enough between now and then (we didn't go as high as we could have pushed it with the price range of our house and mortgage payments, so we are pretty comfortable and are still putting a decent amount of money away every month) - we will go. But we will not take money from our 'home buyers' tax and I will not use a credit card.

So if we can do it - we go! :yay: If not, we keep saving and I will go someday!

No, the one back was $124. AT has a flight down for $99 at 1:50. But in recent years they have been known to change the flight times at the last minute, or add a stop. So I don't really want to chance it. Plus they have baggage fees now. Even though in the past we have had better experiences with them over SW. SW has a 1:50 flight at $139. I'm hoping it will come down to at least $99.

I am about to pull my hair out!!! :scared1:

Attention, MAYers.....

We need a Pixie Dust intervention. Shelly's hair is just now getting long again-- we don't want her to be bald for her trip.

Blow some MAYer Pixie Dust her way, please.

RF-- you are smart to do all of that, without straining your budget. Hawaii will always be there. Well, unless N Korea decides otherwise, but anyway-- it will always be there. And if given the choice, I'd take WDW.;)
It's closer.:rotfl2:

Shelly--- it will all work out. No need to cause damage to your head.

:thumbsup2

Shelly~I checked flights from Detroit last night (just because I'm nosey like that) and they were really high, too! What happened? When I was looking into going, we could get a round trip for $139 and now those same flights are $219! Yikes! Last year, nothing was above $189 round trip.

Good luck! Don't pull your pretty hair out! :scared1: You still have time.

Good for you, RF! Jo is right, Hawaii will always be there. It's not worth having to eat Ramen every day for 2 years straight to get there.

We stopped using credit cards about 10 years ago and it's absolutely the best thing we EVER did!!!

I don't know what happened. I expected them to be higher than January because we flew mid-week in January. But all prior trips we have flown on the weekend and I have never paid anything near these prices. :confused3

I still have hope that it will work out!

But if not, it will make for quicker mornings at WDW if I have no hair!!! :lmao:

SHELLY! DON'T DO IT!

You're hair was so cute in your little side pony when I saw you! :goodvibes

I wonder if the flights are always high at that time of year with it getting closer to the holidays..... IDK.... Or maybe it's just a fluke. :headache:

I hope that it starts coming down for you soon. :sad2:

But you'd have to use soooooo much more sunscreen! :lmao:

Trixie's right, Shelly--- you'd have a shiny, tanned noggin. You'd just have to buff it with some wax every morning, and you'd be good to go.

Hey- speaking of bald- I'm going to upload the pics of my Chas. trip. My new cousin in law (the groom) is bald.:goodvibes

Jo~did you ever answer my question about the magnolia leaves and weddings? Is it a tradition? For everyone? I'm so confused.

Lake-- I hope Emmy has a wonderful first day of school-- and that her Mommy isn't too sad.

You know, sometimes, a little retail therapy does a world of good to a blah day.

So hard to have an empty house.:guilty:

Jo

Haha..how did you know?
I just got back from the mall actually...thought I'd take a look at what to get her for her birthday. I did find myself a steal of a deal though, a new top, regilar 49.95 for 5.98.

Yep. I'm going to wear it on thursday when my girlfrined and I are in Toronto at the U2 concert!!! :)

Coming home to the house so empty and quiet was strange, Willoughby the dog even lifted her head and went, hmmm... no kids with you, well then I'll just go right back to sleep.

I know Em's having a fabulous day, just an adhustment ...first time I'll have my days alone in 8 years. Or EVER actually...because before that I was wirking, before that I was in school...and before that I was a kid myself.:rotfl:

Just thought I'd show you guys a few pics from the wedding.

Here's our hotel-- which I HIGHLY recommend if you're ever in Charleston- the Courtyard by Marriott right on the marina.

The big dark structure in the background is our favorite restaurant, California Dreaming- which Mcat and I ate at one night-

One morning I got up early and walked down the dock, where I sat in a rocking chair all by myself for 40 minutes. I love Charleston. sigh.

I don't know about everyone from the South, but ususally in Charleston- you "Borrow" ;) Magnolia leaves from whoever's got 'em in their yard. I say leaves- you clip the branches and use them that way with a bow tied to them. A centerpiece, of sorts.

See the pics of the windows? They're in them. We usually use ivy as well--- but it all died before we could get it to the venue.

A Southern wedding has to have magnolia leaves (and flowers too if they are alive- sadly, all of ours were dead-).

Notice the Bride's cake topper? It was gum paste.:)

Hello Mayers!

Well, our family had a blast this weekend at D23. Over the next few days as I sort through the videos and pictures I took I will give you a glimpse into what we saw and experienced.

It was more than just "seeing a bunch of stuff". It was very interactive and approachable. For example, what can be any cooler than to have a chance to talk to an Imagineer for 15 or 20 minutes about a new ride they are building? They were very kind and attentive. I just loved the way how they took the time to speak to the kids about what they were doing by showing and explaining what was going to happen in the models and drawings. The kids just ate it up!

The seminars were very well planned and executed. Veteran Imagineers spoke freely and openly about how they go from an idea to finished ride or concept. Their presentations included behind the scenes photos and video and the stories and history they shared just made you feel so much more appreciative how much Disney cares for each ride and attraction at the parks. They even had some questions and answer periods at the end of the seminars which was great too.

The show took up three levels of the Anaheim convention center and the Anaheim arena too. There was enough to see and do, yet it was spacious and you had room to move around. They were well organized for the seminars and had queues set up and tickets were given to you so you were guaranteed a seat before you decided to wait. Nice! They had a very nice lounge area with big sofas and chairs, tables etc. I even took a two hour nap there! (I think a few people took my picture!)

Disney had their DL CMs directing and running the queues and helping the guests. It gave the EXPO the guest experience you would expect to receive at Disney park. And hey, they just work across the street, so why not?! Very good move by Disney.

Another great thing was the collectors and merchandise booths. WOW! If you are looking for something rare or unusual you could have found it here. I was able to find a few neat things as well as find out some history of a few things that we have. The vendors were very nice and helpful.

Ok...that is enough for now...need to check my email!

More to come later...
