Yeah, I guess! :rotfl: DS7 is fine with getting up early. Actually he usually gets us all up early on Saturday. :sad2:

But DS10, he'd rather sleep in. He gets that from me. So getting him up at 6:45 every morning is quite a chore, especially since I'd rather be in bed too!

Morning MAYers! It's take your kid to work day and I volunteered.... :upsidedow I must be craaazy. But I have a half day today so - it's all good.

I'll pop in later this afternoon when I get home :goodvibes

My kids are both early risers...up by 6 am..EVERY morning.
Weekends, holidays...every single day... sometimes I wish they would sleep in. But as they get older its not so bad. They can occupy themselves better now till mom gets up.

RF- I hope you have a fun morning, good for you to volunteer... we'll catch up with you later.

Morning everyone!

I'm running out the door for a walk-- it was 74 degrees this morning at 6 am when I got up! Sending some warmth your way.....:wizard:

BBL to chat.

Well, I made it back from the walk. I thought I was going to expire on that hill out there-- the one the kids sled down. But I made it. Woo hoo!
That's one in a row!:rotfl2:

RF - Shelly: The reason why your guys are telling you all the stuff going on at work is because that is where they get their purpose in life. No guy wants to feel like he is working for nothing, or that has no goal - he wants to work for a purpose that has a benefit for him, his wife and his family. What he is telling you is this: honey, i am doing all of this for us, and we are making it happen, yea, it is hard, there are some bad times, but look, we are doing great, etc. In many ways he is trying to make you feel secure about him, that he is taking care of you and the kids, he might not verbalize it that way, but that is message he is trying to get across.

Trust me on this: he is waiting to hear your response to what he has just shared with you. He wants to know, was it worth going to work today?

This is so fascinating to me- to hear a man's thoughts. I guess Mark and I are on the same page as far as talking about our days. Every morning we take at least 15 minutes to have some "us" time before the day gets going- just to talk about what's up for the day- and then at night, when he comes in- (Which is usually between 7-8 pm-- I hear ya Shelly on the 60 hr work weeks-:sad2:) We take another 30 minutes or so to talk about everything that happened that day.

Actually- he talks most of the time, I listen:rotfl2:- but I'm always so interested in what he's doing. Seriously. I think it's fun to hear about b/c i'm not in the work outside the home scene anymore.
Plus- I love to hear the "Climbing the corporate ladder" tales AND what he's doing is kind of exciting.

Like yesterday --his team (Mark, another sales guy and their boss) had to do a presentation for the entire executive board of their company -- including 4 VP's AND the President and CEO. That's huge for any company- but their company is a household name.;) So that kind of stuff is really cool for me to live vicariously thru him.

But you said something that interested me-- you said a guy doesn't want to hear about our day when he comes in. Is that true? What did you mean? B/c I think if I'm listening to how DH's day went, he's interested in how my day went, even if it means I only went to the grocery store and made dinner. I know that I'm not saving the world anymore, but I think what I do matters... even a little bit.

Curious to your thoguhts here.:)

Analytical - Thinks in numbers, slow to decisions, likes to be considered as smart. Has about 5 friends, none of them are close.

Stoic - Stand-offish, likes to do things alone or in very small groups. Has 2 close friends. You are one of them.

These are my DH. Especially the analytical part. That boy is always thinking. About work. And if he is thinking about something else, well, he's not thinking, because he is always thinking about work.
ummmm.... totally Mark. Both of those.

We start at 8:00. But I think the kids actually get to school around 7:45. It is very early compared to a lot of schools around here. The one we moved from 3 years ago started at 9:00.

The good news is that they are done around 2:15!
That was something I had to get used to when I was in PA. Our kids get an hour more school time. They go in at 8 and don't get out until 3. Well, the elementary at least- the HS and Jr high's times are different.

I didn't know it was Take Your Kid To Work Day. . . I should have kept the kids home today to scrub toilets!
:rotfl:
Maybe mine would be interested in cooking some supper for me.

Congratulations on becoming an Aunt! I can't wait for that day myself. I wanna sniff some of that baby smell.:lovestruc I keep telling my SIL that i'm ready to shop... she's just got to get married first.:rotfl2:

Hope you get the job you are wanting. ANd your apartment woes are over.:goodvibes

Keep us in the loop to your happenings! Love the pics! We are so interested in what's going on down there!

Jo - Thanks for your comments. Let me clarify myself about earlier post, it was not really worded that well to begin with. Here is my thoughts and what I am trying to convey: A guy is not ready hear about your day or the kids day right when he comes in the front door. He has just battled all day long with his clients, boss, vendors, and crazy people on the road, and just wants to get home and decompress. They know there are problems and things that need to be discussed, but the first hour or two they are home is usually not the time to do it. Guys are really interested in what is going on in your life, the kids stuff and such - just let him unwind a little while. Does that make sense?

... that part of the fun of the vacation for you is the planning part--something to look forwrd to?

I absolutely need something to look forward to!

Beautiful pix Trixie! I would just love to be that close all the time to the water. We have a favorite hotel we go to in Pismo Beach and we just love to open the doors and windows and let all the sea air into the room and take a nap. Your pix reminded how nice it is do that.

We're very spoiled. :cloud9:

I know I work for the Mouse, but I do have to give Shamu his due....Sea World can be a lot of fun. They have some very fun kid's rides (including an awesome carousel) as well as a couple grown-up coasters and such. There's a lot of interaction that can be had with the animals, including feeding stingrays, dolphins, and other animals as well as petting a lot of these too. The shows are also pretty awesome. It is definitely a one-day park though. I had a season pass to there last year that got a lot of use.

Cocoa is about an hour away, and if you've never been to the Gulf of Mexico, I'd highly recommend Clearwater for a beach day. It's about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, depending on traffic (DO NOT go the first day of Spring Break ---bad idea :) )

I'm trying to think of things we tend to do outside the realm of Disney (or in Disney, even) that are more adult-oriented.....but really my group is just a bunch of overgrown kids who all work for one of the area theme parks. We tend to go to parks and out to eat and not much else :)

Oh! Kennedy Space Center tends to be fun for everyone, and if you wanted to go to Cocoa, it could be combined into a 2-day excursion. There's a lot neat things for everyone there, the bus tour takes you through the Apollo building, out to the launch pad, and one other building. There's the NASA museum, as well as the memorial. Plus some really cool IMAX movies.

Thanks for the ideas! :goodvibes

Trix - those are great pics!!! I wish I lived that close to the water! :cloud9:

It is nice...and someday it will be mine, all mine! Mwa ha ha ha! :stir:

Well, technically, someday half of it will be DH's. :lmao:

Any house news?

Do you want me to call those interested people and tell them how important a good neighborhood is so they'll just write up the offer already??? :rolleyes1
