Ok Mayers - Disney announced today two new huge events out here: Destination, Disneyland 55 this September 24th & 25th at the DL Hotel. And D23 Expo is coming back August 19-21, 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center!

We are definitely going to both events and want to invite you to come join us! I think Destination D is going to be amazing for Disneyaholics like us!

If we can get a group together, we can plan a wide variety of things to do to coincide with Destination D. That includes visiting Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure, (of course!) Knott's Berry Farm, a movie at Disney's El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and maybe Universal Studios.

Let me know what you think. I am open to your ideas and what you would like to do out here.

I would SO love to do that -- my birthday is 9/24! But I don't know if we can budget for another trip this year. *sigh* Maybe if we get some kind of wonderful windfall...

If we hit the lottery (we don't play so our odds are quite slim) then we'll be there! My bday is 9/30!!! We can all celebrate together!

I had a long day- DS still hates school and came home with a high fever. Amazes me that his teacher didn't pick up on it. He looked miserable coming off the bus.
Got the final diagnosis for my FIL last night. He has 2 forms of aggressive cancer in his stomach/esophagus and pancreas. The pancreas is very advanced and not treatable. They can try chemo for the stomach cancer but he knows that the pancreatic cancer will kill him anyway so why bother going through all of that. At this point it's a quality vs. quantity choice that his dad has to make. We're just praying he's not in too much pain.


Onto happier thoughts...
We got the offer for free kids through the Disney Visa and DH was cursing Disney. We ended up talking about it and we may possibly go back in Nov./Dec. of 2011. I know it's over a year away but I'm hanging onto the hope!

Oh and I looked it up and coconut rum goes well with pineapple juice. Sounds yummy to me!

Hey Kim - I am so sorry to hear about your FIL prognosis. I hope and pray that doesn't have much pain and will be able to enjoy his family and have wonderful memories. I know it will be hard on your entire family - some of us have been through this and we are here for you.

And another Mayer September birthday!! Wow - we can have a big party now! How about using that Disney Visa for the D23 Expo in 2011?

Morning MAYers!

Am I the first one here today??? That's odd, usually I'm not here at all lately. I have subbed everyday this week except for today. But this morning I had 2 PTO meetings and this afternoon I have to go back in and set up for the Hobby Show and then go back for the Hobby Show tonight. I sure am looking forward to our 4 day weekend this weekend!!

The 1st and 2nd graders do a little Hobby/Collection show every year in March. DS8 of course is taking in his Star Wars stuff. Again. Same as last year. I tried to get him to do something else this year since it is his last year he can participate. But nope. So Star Wars it is! That reminds me, I need to print off a picture of him fighting the evil Darth Vader!

Hope all is well in MAYerland! It is beautiful and sunny and in the 60's here today!!


PS -- I vote for a shot of vodka in my Dole Whip Float!

Yep Jo - I make ADR's soon!!! I can't wait! I think it's in 8 days

And I am going to put in a vote for the booze-y Dole Whips. Malibu Rum.... Yummm!!! My favorite mixed drink is Malibu and Pineapple juice. So I think adding Pineapple soft serve to that sounds heavenly.



I need to bust out the ice cream maker that we got for christmas soon! The weather is getting nicer, so I think it's time to grill out and make some homemade dole whips. I'll play some Adventureland music - the scenery won't be as nice.... But I think it'll have to do for now.

Kim, I am very sorry to hear about your FIL We lost my FIL last year to lung cancer and my sister to lung cancer right before that. It's so hard, but I totally understand the quality vs. quantity choice you are talking about. I hope the days he has with his loved ones are the best they can be...

I'm sorry your DS is still having troubles with school. Hopefully he will get a better fit for a teacher next year and things will be much better for him. I hope he is feeling better!

A Tiki Room BBQ, what a cool party idea! Make sure to put the little paper parasols in your drinks. Do you have a recipe for homemade Dole Whips? You guys really gotta see the Tiki Room at DL sometime, it's a very different experience than the one at WDW -- cheesy, dated, and oh-so-retro. We love it!

Well, last weekend we set out to go to the other Disney store left in Pittsburgh. It is way more Disney themed than the other one was, but had the same exact merchandise. They changed the store entrance since we were last there, no more Mickey Ears entrance.
