Morning-:cool1:

Okay Shell- i've had time to sleep on it and think about your situation- again. And so I'm gonna give you my "best":3dglasses opinion...:)

I think you should stick with the BWI.

Now- you've probably over the course of the night, decided to switch to the S/D-- b/c see that's how our friendship is- I think one way, you think another. And then usually we discuss it and things and ideas get moved and changed.:goodvibes

But let me tell you why I think You should stickl with the BWI...
Even though you are AT the BWI in the S/D-- you're still not AT a WDW property. I don't know how it feels wehn you're on property of the S/D- probably like you are on property at WDW.
However, subconsiously- I think you'd "know" it or feel it somehow.

IDK why.:confused3
I think S/D is a beautiful resort. The pics are fabulous. It's just....:confused3 something there that's not the same, I guess. I can't quite put my finger on it. And I didn't come to that conclusion until just now. Keep in mind I haven't stayed there- Marky has though. He thought while nice- it was just another hotel in his opinion.

Besides- the pool at BWI--- the Keister Coaster-- your babies loving the water....
IDK--
in actuality it isn't a lot of $$ saved--
but I know- any $$ at all is something-- (that's what I was confused over yesterday too for the $200 for my vacation-)

Anyway- I know we'll yap a lot more over it-- so tell me what your DH said last night.

ANd in the meantime- go back to that TR we read... you know the one ;)... and look at those pics of the BWI in it again.:cloud9: And that location of that room......

yes- even the naners are getting into it now.

Okay--- off to the chiropractor---- I'll be back later to check in.

Hope all is well in MAYerland today!

Sea---- hope you are feeling better!!!!:wizard:

Hi Mayers! This will be a quickie because I still have to hop in the shower before heading to work...

Work = crazy

Well, that about sums up how I spend my time LOL Between that an taking care of business for my Mom. She still hates the board and care, hates having no privacy and no independence. We're getting her a mobile home (it's almost new, 2002, and was a good deal) at a senior's park about 1 1/2 miles from our house. And we have friends who live there and will help keep an eye on her, and we'll set her up with a med alert pendant, meals on wheels, a home aide a few hours a week, check on her daily...and hope for the best. Escrow closes early April, and she seems happy to have something to look forward to.

So that brings me to my QOTD -- We are probably going to do about 4-5 TS meals. We already know what they are. But we really want to branch out on the CS meals and try some new things. So I need the MAYers help -- thoughts, ideas ???

AK: Flame Tree was pretty good, I'd try Yak & Yeti's CS if I went back, kinda mixed reviews
HS: Starring Rolls was surprisingly good -- sandwiches, yummy bakery stuff, we really liked it.
Epcot: We love Sunshine Seasons -- there is something for absolutely EVERYONE. Kringla Bakery in Norway was good -- sandwiches and pastries, and we like Tangierine Cafe in Morocco, but that's a bit exotic for some tastes. I've been warned against the CS in China, and we don't like the CS in Mexico at all -- but we are from CA and spoiled on really good Mexican food =)
MK -- we liked Columbia Harbor House, and Cosmic Ray's.
DTD -- Wolfgang Puck Express was really good, and I've heard good things about Earl of Sandwich...

Sea, hope you are feeling better! We still on for 3/19? I wanna see the Elvis show and fireworks!!!

Ack, just looked at the time! Gotta fly! :goodvibes

You won't believe this one -- but I have come to the same conclusion!! :confused3 Who knew?! We can agree on something! Now you don't have to disown me for disagreeing with you!! ;):lmao::rotfl2:

Well, let me back up for the rest of the MAYers. Earlier this week I had a moment of insanity. :crazy2: I thought about moving our trip up from Nov to August. Why? Well because 1) it is sooner :woohoo: and 2) because it is much cheaper to go to the Swan in August than to go to the BWI in Nov. The Swan teacher rates for August are $139 a night. But then I remembered how much we hate the FL heat/humidity (okay, DH reminded me ) and eventually decided that it just wasn't worth it.

So, we were back to November. Then I was reading a thread yesterday about how it is better to call the S/D for the teacher rates because they are often cheaper than what is online. Being that they didn't have any discounts online for Nov I decided to go ahead and call. That's when I was told the $169 a night.

But in the end I decided to stick with the BWI. The new rooms are so nice. :cloud9: We have really been looking forward to being there, and I know the kids are going to love that pool! Plus, after this year we are going to have to consider traveling in the summer. Once DS10 is in 7th grade I really have my doubts about taking him out of school for Disney. SO -- we plan to check out the Swan extensively while we are at the BWI and maybe we will be staying there in summer 2011! We will definitely have to change our touring style if we go in the summer, and we may hate it, but it is something we are going to have to consider. People do it all the time and live to tell about it!! :lmao:

I will definitely be looking forward to hearing all about RF's summer trip and hearing all about the crowds and weather.

Hey Katie

So good to hear from you! :goodvibes I'm glad you have found another option for your mom. I hope she is much happier there. You sure are a good daughter!

Thanks for all the great restaurant ideas! :thumbsup2 I am suddenly very hungry!! :confused3:rotfl:

You guys better make another awesome MAYer shout out video!! :goodvibes

How are you feeling today Sea? :flower3:

:confused3
Hey Katie

So good to hear from you! :goodvibes I'm glad you have found another option for your mom. I hope she is much happier there. You sure are a good daughter!

Yeah, well...she's my mama. Both of my sisters are gone, so it's just me...and somebody's got to take care of her  And I know it's not totally safe, and not totally ideal, but I really don't know what else to do. I have power of attorney, but that's to help her out, not to circumvent her wishes. She wants a place of her own, and it's her money. So I just shopped around and found the best deal I could. My friend's husband is a contractor and he inspected it and said it's flawless, in wonderful shape, and we are getting a really good price. When I agreed to set this up for her, though, I told her we had to make a few compromises. We are completely disconnecting the stove -- microwave cooking only (yeah you can set a microwave on fire, but you have to try really hard, and at least it shuts itself off with the timer). And she can't take a shower unless there is someone there she can call for help if she needs it -- she doesn't need help showering, I'm just thinking of an emergency if she fell. I'll be over there 2-3 afternoons a week after work, my husband will alternate with me on weekdays (he was a CNA once upon a time). And we will probably hire a home health aide/housekeeper for 4-8 hours a week, couple of afternoons. My two oldest sons drive and I've asked them to alternate Sundays to go over for an hour or two just to check on her, see if she needs anything, make sure she took her meds. I sure hope this works, because it's the best idea I can come up with. :confused3

I am getting so excited for our trip to DL in March! I know it's only for a few days, but we'll be staying at the Grand Californian for the first time :goodvibes We'll have our anniversary dinner Wednesday at Napa Rose -- I booked the chef's table, which will cost us an arm and a leg, but I figured 10 years is worth a splurge... We have a meet up with my best childhood friend on Thursday, and hopefully still on with Sea and Mrs. Sea on Friday. And after check out on Saturday I booked breakfast with Stitch before we head home. So it should be a nice little trip. And believe it or not, I'm even looking forward to seeing the construction -- I'm such a Disney geek that I like to see the improvements and progress  and at least none of our fave attractions will be down! Last time I was there Space Mountain was down for the Halloween overlay...and the Matterhorn work should be finished when we are there, too.

Hello Mayers! I hope you all are doing well this morning.

I am feeling a bit better. No more sore throat and stuffy nose. I am glad that I caught this early and knocked it out.

KB - You have been a very busy bee indeed. It is really good to hear that you are able to do all that for your mom. Wonderful! Yes, we are still on for the 19th and Elvis, fireworks AND Captain EO too! We will leave for the park when Chris gets home from school. Probably get down to the park around 5:30 pm depending on the traffic.

Sounds like you got a great deal on the mobile home and you have all the details worked out as well. :thumbsup2 I'm sure it will all work out.

Yea, I agree with Jo here about BWI. The pool factor for your boys is a good fit.

good mornin' :surfweb:

It's Friiiiiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaaay....

I just love singing that. :goodvibes My favorite time of the week is Friday night, after work...

Going with my friends to a show tonight -- Led Zepagain, a Led Zeppelin tribute band from Los Angeles. We've seen them a few times, and they do a great show. But it will be late, and I've been awake since 4:30 this morning. Arrgh...will need more coffee...

Roofers coming tomorrow to fix our garage roof, provided it isn't raining -- $425 was the quote. Just got our tax refund, was enough to fix the garage, pay for our hotel at DL, and give us a little money for the trip, whoo hoo! :woohoo:

How is everyone today?

Morning!

KB-- hope all gets straight with your mom and she feels better about her situation with her own place. It is so hard for the older generation to give up their independance. You are a GREAT daughter and i know she appreciates all the hard work you are doing for her. You deserve your Cali trip.... I hope you have a great time together.:wizard:

Shelly- glad you stuck with the BWI. Now I won't disown you.:upsidedow

I wish there was a tapping fingers smilie b/c I'm bored today. this will have to suffice......
:rolleyes1

Where are the MAYers????????????????? Come out come out wherever you are!

Jo

Hi KB!!!!!!

Hope you have a great Friday!!

Why is it that there is always something to take our tax refunds away???:rotfl2:

I'm so glad it's Friday!!!! I'll try to ignore the fact that it is snowing again. At least we're not getting it as bad as some of you that are further north. No school to day so DS is home and has informed me that he will be staying in his PJ's all day.

It's a slow work day which is good and bad- 2 families canceled and 1 family is coming late. Of course they would cancel when it's my pay day. :headache: I don't think the mortgage company will take that as an excuse.

Tomorrow my baby will be 3!!! I can't believe it. :sad2: DH asked her what she would like to do for her birthday and I had to giggle when she said she wanted to go to Disney World! We're making cupcakes today and may go to the mall tomorrow to the Disney store and ride the carousel. It's not Disney World but it's the closest we've got. DH and I were talking about Disney again last night- well, me more than him but any talk about Disney is fine with me.

Sea- glad you're feeling better.

Shelly- I think you definitely stick with BWI. :thumbsup2 I'd much rather read your TR with BWI in it. :lmao: And August???? You must have been looped up on cold meds when that thought crossed your mind! We went at the end of JUly/first week of August for our honeymoon in 2001 and it was unbearably hot. We were actually thankful when a tropical storm rolled in to cool things off.

Katiebell- What a relief you figured out something that will work for your mom and you. How lucky to find something so close to you.

Everyone else... :wave2:

hi Kim, Hi Huggie!

huggie--- did you post your ADR's? did I miss them?? I am getting so excited I can't stand myself.

:lmao:

Glad you are feeling better, Sea :goodvibes We're really looking forward to hanging out with you guys! Yes, yes, yes -- Elvis, fireworks, EO...wouldn't it be great if Maynard is working the Tiki Room?

Hi KB!!!!!!

Hope you have a great Friday!!

Why is it that there is always something to take our tax refunds away???:rotfl2:

Yeah, I wish it could all just go into savings :teacher: But I'm actually pleased that it's enough to pay for the hotel, the roof, and give us some trip money. AND pay our state taxes! I can't believe we owed anything to the state -- it's only a little, but sheesh, we claim zero all year just so we won't ever owe anything and we usually get a little windfall back. California's budget is such a mess that they really are robbing the taxpayers. :headache:

OMG!! I cant stand this snow!!!! I cant wait for disney

Aww...I'd send you some CA sunshine, but it's been mostly raining for weeks!

Oh man, I wish I could stay in my pj's all day. Sometimes I'm so jealous of my stupid cat, all stretched out on the bed and purring when I have to leave for work  How cute that your little girl wants to go to Disney for her bday princess: Yep, and I'm very glad that the park for Mom is so close to us -- Tim can get over there on his motorcycle in less than 10 minutes.

Okay, you guys...I thought, hmmm...guess I should do a ticker, huh...

WELL LOOK AT MY NEW TICKER!!!!!!!!!!!!:wizard::cloud9::yay::dance3::woohoo:

I had NO IDEA my trip was coming up so soon!!!

(I am suddenly very excited)

Happy Friday Mayers!!!

Well, we are expecting a huge storm tonight - lasting through the early afternoon tomorrow.

I am feeling OK, hopefully by the end of the day I will be 100%.

Sea

Afternoon MAYers

Got called into work today. :teacher: It was a good day. It's snowing here AGAIN. Nothing major, so I guess I really can't complain too much. But I probably will anyway. :rotfl:

No real plans for the weekend. Just watch it snow and dream of Disney I guess. :cloud9: I am so jealous of those of you going to Disney soon!! You better all be taking lots of pictures and writing reports to help get me through the next 8+ months!

I'm really enjoying your TR Kim! :thumbsup2

Katiebell- Nice Ticker!!!!:cool1::woohoo: Wish I had one.

Sea- stay safe in the storm and hope you reach 100% by the day's end. pixiedust:

Shelly- I'm glad you're enjoying your new gig so much! Ain't teaching fun! We've gotten a few more inches of snow here too but I'm just trying to ignore it. As long as it isn't measured in feet I'm happy. Glad you're liking my TR. If anyone needs a laugh today you can visit and see a pic of a lady doing something very strange while waiting for the parade. :lmao:

I just spent the past half hour arguing with the credit card company. Still trying to hash out this fraud junk from December. It's only about $160 worth of charges but it's the principle of it. I'm just about to the point of paying it just to make it go away. We paid the card off after our trip and I don't want a balance on it. Stupid red tape and paperwork.
