:rotfl2::rotfl2: NC in PJ's.... too funny.... Hope you feel better soon.... what is it the cold????
I have the sniffles!

Have you guys heard of Dr. Oz? he is a really famous Dr in Manhattan (NYC) well my mother works with his sis in law and he recommended a medicine for my and Marissa when we get sick. Let me tell you guys i LOVE it... me and marissa woke up sick on Sunday and we took that medicine all sunday and saturday we were fine.... well marissa still had a little cough but it is all gone..... It's a great medicine incase you guys want to pick it up it's also homeopathic so all natural... it's called Cold Calm by BOIRON ..... they have it for adults and kids....

Dr. Oz has his on show now. He used to be on Oprah and the time. His show is shown here sometime during the day. I need some COLD CALM!!!

Sorry you aren't feeling well NC.

But yes, you did give me a good laugh picturing your attire on the way to school!! :rotfl:

Thanks Shelly!

I thought it was pretty funny.

My kids will have funny stories to tell when they grow up about their crazy mom.

I'm up for a Pittsburgh MAYer meet! :woohoo: Any other takers? :yay:

I think that Kennywood is a great experience - it's nothing compaired to WDW, but if you can appreciate it for what it is it's a great little park with a TON of history. :thumbsup2 I think that would be a fun time with everyone!

And I have never been to Hershey, but Bob has been wanting to go back because he hasnt been there since he was a kid.

Also - NC - I think your kids would be APPALLED if I were there mother. I wear PJ's to the grocery store. :confused3

Whatever. They'll get over it. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

ETA: Not your kids. LOL. Anyone who sees me n my PJ's... they'll get over it ;)

I think it's the words mother and PJs in the same sentance that is so APPALLING!

Hmmm, now that you mention it - I can't imagine my mom going to the store in her PJ's either. Interesting.

LOL. :rotfl: OK. Well, that's good to know. :woohoo: I'm in the clear!

I truly have no shame.

:lmao:

I have never worn my PJ's out of the house.:snooty::rolleyes1:lmao:

Except in the hospital after I gave birth. X three.:rotfl2:

But ya know, after being laid bare to everyone around --- you just really don't care if they are on or not.

Hum.... I think I need to put that on my to do list-- wear PJ's to drive the kids to school and swing by the grocery store afterwards.
Sure as heck would beat putting makeup on every day. How liberating.:goodvibes
There was a lady in her bathrobe and curlers the other day at the bus stop with her kids ---- my children thought it was the funniest thing ever.

NC--- hope you feel better soon. You need Chicken soup! Do I need to come out????????

Thanks everyone for reading my DL better late than never peer pressured Trip report.:lmao:
Sea-- yes, I definitely need a do over involving Club 33. I know the door to enter in.;) I was supremely disappointed on my first night of DL--- the Indy ride did make it a tad bit better. I forgot to mention that we did ride POTC again after the fireworks fiasco and the boat we were in had sprung a leak. WE were all the way in the last row--- and when we went up the conveyor belt at the end.... allllllllllllllllll the water, over our ankles deep ----- came rushing back and soaked us. That water is dirty and a nasty shade of grey.:scared1: Germaphobe Jo almost had a coronary while Mark tried to recover from a near death experience. He's a worse Germaphobe than me.

I'll try to post the Hollywood experience tomorrow. I know you guys are dying to read it.;)

BTW--- school has been cancelled again- for tomorrow.

Just promise me you PJ wearing gals will stay out of Walmart, otherwise you might end up on this web site: http://www.peopleofwalmart.com

Jo - The water in the flume of the ride is filtered all day long, it is very clear if you look carefully, but I would never drink from it. Never sit in the front or back row of any of the POTC boats. Especially at the end of a day because they collect the splashed water and trash all day long and it sifts its way back to the last row as it goes up the last lift hill over and over. I know it is gross. Remember that picture of my wife's behind? End of the day, last row - it will always getcha!

I need at least 3 months advanced notice for Club 33 because it is always booked up.

Morning MAYers :surfweb: I'm tired and cold and I just want to go back to sleep. :sad1: But, I don't think my boss would like it too much if I called off on the 3rd day of the new year.

Yes - Please do another update Jo!!!! Sorry about your last meal. ::guilty: People working in restaurants can have such low patience levels. :sad2:

:lmao: I've seen that site Sea! OMG. It is hilarious!

 I soooo don't want to be one of those people. I guess I better start putting on better quality that fleece pants when I leave my house! :scared1:

You never know who's watching :cool2:

Good morning MAYers! :goodvibes It has finally stopped snowing here.

Maybe that's why I didn't "feel" the whole Kennywood thing. I never went as a child. I know everyone always talks about the history there. All I know is when we went it was hot, crowded, and the lines were hugely long for everything. Maybe WDW has just ruined all other parks for me! :rotfl:

I think Sea would really enjoy Cedar Point! It's probably 2-3 hours from here. Haven't been there is quite sometime either.

And I have never been to Hershey, but Bob has been wanting to go back because he hasnt been there since he was a kid.

What?! :scared1: You've never been to Hershey??? Really? You guys must get there fast!!:cool1: That's kind of like me never eating at Primanti's! :rotfl:

Isn't it funny how you have no shame after giving birth?:rotfl: Nothing seems like a big deal after baring it all I guess.

Mayer meet at Cedar Point....fabulous idea.
We could be there in 2.5 hours.
Fly into Cleveland or Toledo Sea... and we'll meet you. hahaha

The cinema girls and I went to see Up in The Air last night. We liked it.

Over the holidays we also saw Brothers, Precious and with Jason I saw Avatar in 3D. Which was fantastic. I think I ready for a little movie break, plus it will give me the time to get through all the books I receievd at Christmas.

So what is everyone up to today????

Morning!

Sea--- the water that was gross and grey was in the boat. ewwwwwwww. It had paper and stuff floating in it and I felt like I had just swam thru raw sewage. EWWWWWWWW.:lmao:
Duly noted... 3 months advance notice for the Club!!!;) Which means I have to work on Mark much earlier than expected whenever I do get around to coming back. He's the King of Last Minute ya know.:rotfl2:

I will work on the DL TR in a bit---
I have to do the checkbook and pay bills that I've been putting off since I got home. I hate doing it.:headache: ANd then I have to go to the store b/c whadda ya know-- it's clear right now but we're getting a blizzard tonight.

Yay me.

Looks like school will be cancelled again.:guilty:

RF--- how's your Aunt's Dad? Any news?

Hmmm, now that you mention it - I can't imagine my mom going to the store in her PJ's either. Interesting.

LOL. :rotfl: OK. Well, that's good to know. :woohoo: I'm in the clear!

I just don't think I could do the whole bathrobe and curlers thing. Yikes!

I have decided kids need stories to tell about their parents. It's the spice of life!!!

Sea

I'm not sure I can say that I liked it.
I did know what the movie was about going into it, but who could really like a movie involving that subject matter I guess. It was dark of course and Monique and Gaby Sidibe are very good playing the the extremely disturbed and aggressively abusive mother, and the phyically sexually and psychologically abused daughter. Paula Patton is outstanding as the teacher though. But the ending the movie does not give you any closure or any upliftment ( is that even a word) at all. It wasn't the movie I thought it would be with all the hype.

But of course that is just my opinion.

Others obviously love it.

Yea, from the reviews I read, this one of TP's most darker/dramatic movies. It is definitely a complex and disturbing subject matter for film. I think it is one of those "message" type of films - to get people to think about what kind of pain and anguish a person goes through and endures from abuse. It is slice of life a lot people don't see too often and it is quite tragic.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the movie.

Day 2--- HollyWeird... as Sea calls it.

(Um........He's not joking):lmao:

Day 2 involved us getting up early and getting ready for our trip to Hollywood.
As you may or may not know about me--- I have always wanted to come to Hollywood. I've had this vision in my mind of what it's supposed to be like, look like, feel like, taste like for forever.

We decided that Sunday would be our best day to go- and break up the DL park days into Saturday and Monday- hoping the crowds would be less on Monday than on Sunday.

We got into our little rental car and rode over a couple of streets to the Grand Californian for another breakfast. When we pulled up front, they told us that we'd have to go back across the street and park in the Paradise Pier parking lot. Ummm. okay- back out to find our way around and around. Took us a good 15 minutes to do it and get parked.
Saw construction of the new DVC area- it looked beautiful.
Went in to the same little area as the day before and got muffins and coffee.

Once we were finally on our way-- it was later than we'd wanted it to be- but my mission for the day was to relax.

I forgot in my crazy desire of relaxation that we had to drive on the freeway.
:scared1:

Sea- you will appreciate this more than anyone...

How A slow Southerners drive on the freeway resulted in having to take a valium.... by Jo:lmao:

Mark can drive anywhere. ANYwhere. He learned to drive in Europe. He's driven on the autobahn- as a teenager. He's driven us across 6 lanes of traffic in New York City, blowing the horn and cussing like a sailor or maybe a taxi driver-- in order to make a right hand turn from the left hand lane.
We got on the freeway-
and
I
was
scared
to
death.

There are, oh somewhere in the neighborhood of a thousand people all around you, all at once, all going a hundred miles an hour, all switching lanes and threatening to kill you all at the same time.
It is terrifying.
No wonder all of those stars out there have drivers.

293-1.jpg

That picture really looks like it's a nice slow, Easy Like Sunday Morning drive in the park.
Somewhere on that road, I left my heart- b/c it opens up to... um... 7 or 8 lanes of traffic, all going in the same direction with 7 or 8 lanes on the other side of the road going in the other direction. Be still my heart. Give me a valium. Never mind, give me two valiums and let me chase it with some Xanex and whiskey.

Some scenes--
291-1.jpg

292-1.jpg

Mr Demille, I'm ready for my close up now.... Love that movie!!
294-1.jpg

Here's where we got off, I think!
295-1.jpg

So we got off, went two lights or so down- doing whatever it is that the GPS told us to do...
when we stopped at a light that was next to a gas station.
And in that gas station was a sight that I will never ever get out of my mind. It was the beginning of me seeing the reality that is Hollywood.

There was this man- very dirty, very poor- homeless to be sure, - very sad--- being jacked up by five policemen up against a car.

I sat there not being able to speak. I've never seen anything like it before. the brutal force they were using on this poor soul- who, I'm sure was not innocent- but looked like he could barely stand up from what they were doing to him. I had visions of Rodney King in my mind. Mark grabbed my hand and forced me to look at him to get me out of that ugliness that was staring me in the face. He tries ever so hard to shelter me from the World's horrible reality- he knows I hold things such as that in my head and heart until I ache.

The light turned green and he got out of there as fast as he could, talking to me the whole way---
we finally got to where we wanted to be -
296-1.jpg

297-1.jpg

On one side--
298-1.jpg

On the other-

300-1.jpg

Went to the parking garage and walked thru- to get to the street.

306.jpg

308.jpg

309.jpg

Here's what I never understood, and bet you who have never been to Hollywood also thought--
The Kodak theater- when you see it all blocked off for Awards shows with the red carpet- and Limos up front--it is right next to Mann's Theater. And El Capitan is right across the street! I always thought they were possibly close to one another, but never thought they were that close.
There are actors portraying characters out front so you could get your pic taken with them. Captain Jack followed me down the street and Mark made me cross the road really fast. He was scary-- and not in a good way either.

From across the street-

315.jpg

316.jpg

317.jpg

While we were standing there, at the ElCapitan, this came pulling up. Seems soemone had taken ill in the little alley there-
318.jpg

Crossed back over and headed for the garage-
319.jpg

Inside the shops at the Kodak Theater-
320.jpg

There were certain things I HAD to see--

321.jpg

322.jpg

323.jpg

I was on the Ultimate Mission.....
Mark got sick of hearing it--- and I was yelling "slow down slow down, let me out I want to take the picture there--"
but he only slowed for a brief second - just long enough for me to squeal so loud it hurt his eardrums......

Ahhhh-

327.jpg

Slash-- U R divine....

326.jpg

Another thing that completely floored me was how fast you could get to Beverly Hills!!! I thought that the Kodak theater, the Whiskey and Beverly Hills and all of those other places I just posted were sooooooo far away from one another. I thought B. Hills was waaaaaay out, but nope- there it was.

328.jpg

Some Beverly Hills scenes--

337.jpg

340.jpg

344.jpg

346.jpg

347.jpg

348.jpg

And with that, we decided to head back to Disneyland for lunch--
349.jpg

350.jpg

351.jpg

We went to the hotel, dropped off the car and walked over to Downtown Disney to a restaurant called Naples for Pizza.
We had salad--"Caesar - Hearts of romaine lettuce and Parmesan cheese served with bruschetta. $12.95" and "Pizza con Pollo - Roasted chicken, BBQ sauce, smoked mozzarella, caramelized onion and fresh tomatoes. $16.50/$27.50"
It was very good. We are HUGE fans of BBQ chicken Pizza and this was really nice.
After we were really full- we walked around, bought the kids soem pins and strolled to the movie theater.
We saw the movie Angels and Demons, and enjoyed it a ton.

By the time we got out, it was turning really dark and we headed back to the hotel- Mark had a few things he was trying to get done on his Blackberry.
When we got to the hotel- I snapped a few pics from right outside our door--

356.jpg

357.jpg

355.jpg

361.jpg

362.jpg

358.jpg

363.jpg

367.jpg

I went back to the room for a while, looked at the clock and saw it was almost time for the fireworks------ ran outside to the end of the hallway- it's all open to the outside- not an indoor place--and got these--

369.jpg

Okay, look at the above picture- see the "mountain"? That's the Matterhorn Bobsled. And if you look carefully, you can see the tracks, running right next to the road- for the Monorail. The entrance to DL if you're looking at that picture is off of that road, all the way down to the left side of the screen, but it's pretty far down and out of the shot.
They aren't kidding when they say Disneyland is right off the road.
See the little restaurant on the bottom right side with the parking lot? That's Mimi's cafe-- and on the other side of that is the HoJo that the DISers rave over. It is a longer walk than soem of the other hotels there.

382.jpg

385.jpg

Oh well, at least I got to see them a bit!:cloud9:

When it was over, we went to sleep. Had to get an early start the next morning!
