How do you know what everyone wants so early? :santa:

Or that they won't change their minds?

I asked them if they wanted to make christmas lists, and they both said no. We love what ever Santa brings us.

So cute. I am also very lucky to have two kids who truly and devotedly still love and believe in Santa. So buying for them is easy when they have no big wants or expectations.

With Ethan Star Wars figures and a big Star Wars Lego Set.
Emily, a Calico Critters Townhouse and the Calico Critters Bunny family.
Two things they have shown interest in all year but know that they won't just get because of the price.
(They are really good that way, never ask for anything, which is why at christmas we like to spoil them a bit.)

So beside those big items there are a bunch of other things, like a board game each, a webkinz, some books, and ornament, and their traditional christmas jammies. Which I bought after christmas last year for only 5.00 each instead of 35.00.

This way the kids will have christmas morning at home, and then a few days later...off we go for a Caribbean adventure. :)

How did I miss this???

Oh my gosh!!! I'm so excited for you!!!

I wouldn't EVER go on a cruise (unless the ship was on land), but I'm excited for you!!! What a great idea to do as a family! And you have over a year to save for it.

What great thing to look forward to. :sail:

Belle is getting American Girl Julie and lots of accessories for her, a Vera Bradley purse and a few movies.

Mcat is supposed to be getting a Member's Only Jacket... she's also getting a duffel bag and purse from Vera Bradley.

Drew is getting a cell phone, some cologne and some Wii games and movies.

DD7 chose Julie for her AG doll...we got it in Chicago when we went. DD7 has glasses, so we had to add some tortoise shell glasses on Julie, too. DD10 got Nicki for her 8th birthday. It's so nice to see them playing together with them now. I don't know how much longer DD10 will want to play with dolls (I NEVER did), so I'm grateful for every moment they do.

DD7 really wants Julie's bed for Christmas. OUCH! I will get each of them some accessories.

Maybe you'd like to add me to your Christmas list...I bet you'd never notice an extra VB or two! :rotfl2: Actually, last week I ordered the Villager in Puccini when it was $29 instead of $54 or whatever. I should be coming in the next few days. I may save it for someone to give me for Christmas. Or maybe not. :rolleyes1

My Mom's present this year is dinner at a fancy restaurant in Charleston (haven't chosen which one yet) and a private tour of her favorite mansion down there. She is going to be ecstatic-- it's been closed off and on for years as a private residence but you've never been able to tour the whole house before. Witht he private tour, you can! Here's the link--- http://www.calhounmansion.net/
you may recognize it-- it was in the movie The North and the South.

:

So cool! And you know that I recognize it!!! The Hazards lived there, and the Main's at Boone Hall. :)
Love that movie!!! It's what made me want to vist Charleston since I was 13..

Jo - I wonder why you can't see my pics. Hmmm....

Emmy would really like an American Girl doll too. She has been eying up her friends, and we have a catalogue here that I ordered. She would really like one of the ones who looks just like her, or of course Emily. But at just 5 years old I want her to wait another year or two. As you know they are expensive, and I would rather she be a bit older, and then if she still wants it, then we can think about it. I would like to take her to American Girl Place in Chicago and have her pick out her own. I think she would enjoy that experince more than mom picking it for her.

My mom was the one that got the girls their dolls, and she made them wait until they were eight and almost eight years old. It made sense to us, too. American Girl Place in Chicago was very impressive. :snooty: And I didn't take one picture there. :headache: My mom got her doll's hair done!!! :scared1:

I like the Julie Doll too...actually its the one that looks the most like Emmy. Blond hair, brown eyes.. Plus Julie is from the 70's... so of course she's cool. :rotfl:

Lucky girls that your mom did that for them.
And the cost is exactly why I want to wait. I can't imagine spending that money, and her not taking care of it or using it.

I sure am glad I don't have that American Girl Doll stuff to deal with! Sounds expensive.

All the boys really want is Star Wars crap (if there is anything left that they didn't buy at Disney last week) and video games. So one big trip to WalMart and the Game Stop and I should be all set for them. It's everyone else that will take some thought and time to shop for.

Ahh... our Boys and Star Wars!!!!

An AG Doll is about 109.00 and then of course there are the accessories and clothes and extras. It is pricy.

Heather- What happened to the boys in yesterdays game... Did Russell Crow jinx them? What was he doing there anyways...is he filming in PA????

Hi MAYers! Busy busy day at work. Not enough time to Dis...

Heather- What happened to the boys in yesterdays game... Did Russell Crow jinx them? What was he doing there anyways...is he filming in PA????

He's filming a movie about a man who's wife is on death row for a wrongly accused murder... I forget what it's called. They've been filming in the T stations downtown. Also Jake Gyllenhall, Anne Hathaway, and Denzel Washington have all been here within the last month or so... We're making the big time. :lmao:

Oh, and yeah - that was a pathetic game. :sad2: It used to be that Cincinnati was a team that we would make fun of. Kinda like when we play the Browns. It used to be an easy win - but they are all healthy and they are definitely a force to be reckoned with this season. :scared1: They've swept both us and Baltimore - who I usually think are the strongest teams in the AFC in our division. :sad2:

Good for the BURGH, all those movies being made there.
Exciting!!!!

I looked up the Russell Crowe movie...its called, The Next Three Days.
It also Stars Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde.

Jake Gylenhaal and Anne Hathaway are filming...Love and other Drugs together.
and Denzel washington is filming Unstoppable.

Just a little movie info for you. :)

Awww, Trix!

You could have lunch with Lake and Shelly.... and sit with them right at your own table. :flower3: I know they aren't MP.... but...... but...... but..... they're MAYers.:snooty: That would make anyone's Christmas brighter.:lovestruc

Lake--- I knew you'd recognize the Calhoun mansion! :goodvibes You should have seen Charleston when they were filming back then. It looked so much like the pics from the 1800's- dirt in the streets--- my cousins were in the movie and were in background shots with P.Swayze.
Oh great- now I'm going to have to ask for the whole DVD set for Christmas b/c I want to see it again now. I've only watched it 500 times.:goodvibes

Trix.... oooh oooh ohh i got the Villager too when it was $29! For myself of course.:lmao: I won't use it for awhile- I had it shipped to my MIL's house with the other stuff so that I could open a present ..... from myself... when I get there!:rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

The Julie doll looks just like me when I was a little girl! Groovy 70's! Belle loved her last year and wanted her for Christmas but I didn't cave- wanted to wait a year. So she's been wanting it for so long- when it was time to start talking Christmas, (she made a list in August!) Julie and "Stuff" was first on the list.

She has all of Mcat's old dolls and accessories- but they just aren't the same when they weren't originally yours.
KWIM???

Jo

I'm back MAYers!

Someone please catch me up. I feel so out of the loop!

The trip was fabulous! Great weather (except for the crazy wind). Low crowds. So much fun!

Hope all is well with all the of the MAYers!

Glad you had a good trip!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!

Hi Shelly! Good to hear from you! I am dying to hear all about our trip.

Well - I'll do my best to give you the scoop. ;)

I am trying to plan my trip for October, I got insanely jealous (in a good way) of your trip so I went into early planning mode. :cool1: Giant Eagle is now selling Disney gift cards and they are doing double fuel perks this week so I think I am stock piling on either Disney, Universal, or Southwest cards. I called Disney and they accept them to pay off trips! I had a small fiasco where I thought really terrible neighbors would be moving in across the street - but they were outbid!! Annnd ummm, and I went to an all day scrapbook crop yesterday with my BFF Rachel and it was a lot of fun and a great day out, but IDK if it was worth the money I spent....

Sea - Cruisin' in the Caribbean right about now! He's posted some cool pics of his fun at DLR, his neice and nephew at Epcot last week, and some very interesting old pictures of his wife.

Lake's DH Jason's birthday was yesterday and her home renovations are finally done! :yay: She and Trixie briefly discussed your upcoming Frankenmuth trip and were excited to start planning with you!

Trix wasn't on much, I think she missed her partner in crime. But - she updated us that she talked to you guys and that you were having a fabulous time :yay: But, don't worry - no details. She didn't want to spoil your TR!

Jo - kept us posted on your PTR where you guys would be in WDW and of course cheered on her Gators! But she was a little jealous Mark was at the game yesterday and she didn't get to go. :sad1:

NC - Chris and Chloe are doing great, the book has really helped her. And she took a new *ahem* teaching gig at the school. I'll let her explain. LOL.

Tas is getting really excited for Eliska's 1st trip to Disneyland in just a few weeks!!! She was sniffin' paper (not nearly as awesome as sniffin' plastic used to be IMO :goodvibes)

Mari and Monny haven't been on much either - Mari is busy with school (I think she's a little more than halfway thru the semester, so her finals are coming up soon! :cheer2: :teacher:  GO MARI!) and Monny has been busy with work and her garage renovations. Good luck! :yay:

KB hasn't been on for a while. :guilty: She's having a tough time at home, her mom wasn't doing well. Last week she had a stroke and KB could really use some MAYer prayers right now. :littleangel: :snooty:

Huggie popped in quickly to say that soccer is now over, and that her upcoming WDW trip is expanding and it looks like it's quickly approaching!

Whew! That's about it!

ETA - Sorry if I missed anything major.:flower3: Feel free to add anything!

That was soo funny!!:rotfl2:

So over the weekend, my siblings and I started talking about next christmas and the fact that it will be my dad's 70th birthday.
We have decided that instead of exchanging all the usual gifts that we do, we should all take a vacation together instead to celebrate. So it looks like I may be cruising too. It something that everyone enjoys, and enough activity for everyone to pick what they would like to do during the day ( tours, fishing, playing on the beach or shopping ect...), and then we can all do dinner and shows together in the evening as a group. We are really excited and looking forward to it. 8 adults and 5 children. We can't wait, and luckily its not until December 27th of next year so there is time to save. What a lovely way to celebrate christmas and my dad's birthday.

This way the kids will have christmas morning at home, and then a few days later...off we go for a Caribbean adventure. :)

I'm excited!!!! if you can't tell.

Where are u leaving from and what cruise line?? I am jealous!!

Sounds like you cropped til you dropped!

Hi Huggie! We miss you! So glad soccer is over for you. Football is over my DS, but our high school team is in playoffs, so we are still going to those games.

Yeah!!! Shelly is back!

I swear, as I read this I was thinking, "Previously on Mays of Our Lives..."

:lmao:

Good job RF!!!

Sounds like fun!!! Love the pics of your renovation!!!

:rotfl2:

Morning! Glad to have you back Shelly!

Nice update for Shelly, RF--- you are super cool!

Lake--- Great news on the cruise! That will be a lot of fun for you all. I can't see the pics for some reason of your reno-- but I know they are great and you are happy to have them done.

I am done with shopping!!!! I know- can you believe it? It's going to be a very very low key Christmas b/c the things the kids are asking for are so dang expensive!!

Belle is getting American Girl Julie and lots of accessories for her, a Vera Bradley purse and a few movies.

Mcat is supposed to be getting a Member's Only Jacket- but the place I bought it from online is a store in LA and they are dorking me around. I miught need Sea's help when he returns....... she's also getting a duffel bag and purse from Vera Bradley.

Drew is getting a cell phone, some cologne and some Wii games and movies.

I bought all of the above items online and had them shipped to my MIL's house where we always have Christmas Morning.

The kids have already pooled all of their $$ they got from getting good grades on their report cards and...... instead of spending it on themselves, they bought presents for their Grandparents. Isn't that sweet??
My Mom's present this year is dinner at a fancy restaurant in Charleston (haven't chosen which one yet) and a private tour of her favorite mansion down there. She is going to be ecstatic-- it's been closed off and on for years as a private residence but you've never been able to tour the whole house before. Witht he private tour, you can! Here's the link--- http://www.calhounmansion.net/
you may recognize it-- it was in the movie The North and the South.

Mark's parents present is always a gift certificate to their favorite swank restaurant in Chas, which I'll get when I'm there and my SIL gets a check (college student!;)) and his g'parents get a Gift certificate to a grocery store.

I can't believe it-------
I'm not a Christmas Procrastinator this year!! Someone pass the cold Peanut butter!:lmao:

My little Meghan wants the american girl doll but she is 4 and I am NOT ready to shell out all that cash...

We have Julie and  her!!! I think Chloe would like a Vera Bradley bag for Christmas. She was really eyeing them when we were at the promenade in Rogers. She didn't ask for one. My kids just don't ask for much.

I asked them if they wanted to make christmas lists, and they both said no. We love what ever Santa brings us.

So cute. I am also very lucky to have two kids who truly and devotedly still love and believe in Santa. So buying for them is easy when they have no big wants or expectations.

We get Christmas PJs as well. They get to open them on Christmas eve!!! They love it!!!

I remember you saying that Em liked the C. Critters. They are so sweet! And I miss our Star Wars Lego days!!!

We bought glasses for our doll as well. Chloe really enjoyed she and her doll both having glasses. I just love all the Julie stuff. We have her bed and it is too cute!!! We also have this item that we got at Target:

ref=br_qi_1_1

It holds a ton of clothes! And is very sturdy. My friend has this as well and we both love it. It is reasonably priced compared to AG stuff!!!!

Emmy would really like an American Girl doll too. She has been eying up her friends, and we have a catalogue here that I ordered. For both of our birthdays (since they are 2 days apart.) DH sent Chloe and I to Chicago for an American Girl trip. It was awesome! We had so much fun!

I don't know, those Star Wars Legos can really add up! I am so sad my big boy has outgrown that stuff.

All this talk of Julie dolls is starting to freak me out considering my name is Julie.
