Morning everyone!

Kim-- oooh--- are you planning a trip again???:goodvibes Fun times!
Dr Seuss day-- Belle went to school with her favorite stuffed animal and she got to wear PJ's there. That's always fun. Good luck witht he green eggs.
:rotfl:

Jo

Sure am! Even if it's most likely 2 years away and only in my head. :lmao: I ordered the 2010 planning DVD and it arrived the other day. DH just laughed at me and asked in his best snarky *I caught you* voice, "And what is this young lady?" :rotfl: He knows me so well.

I forgot to tell you guys the good news we got the other day. My FIL got the results from his liver biopsy back and it was NEGATIVE for cancer! :woohoo: He goes tomorrow to have his pancreas biopsied. So far the biopsies have come back positive in his esophagus and colon but the good news is that he will have some treatment options for it. This second Dr. has been amazing and on top of things. I'm so glad he went for a second opinion and further testing. The first guy basically handed him a death certificate. This guy is running batteries of tests and biopsies to be sure of things before making a game plan. He'll definitely be going through chemo and radiation but it's nice to hear some hope in his voice. His attitude will make a difference through all of this.

Shelly,

With the special events and parties at MK, for me, I think you have to keep in perspective that you are there to enjoy the "extras" more than the park and rides.

I know for ourselves, when we go to the Halloween event at DCA, we really enjoy getting the candy, seeing the parade, character meet and greets, the special decoration and special music presentations throughout the park. Our family always likes to see what Disney will come up with to make a holiday a little more special and fun.

So, I think if that is something you think that you and your family would enjoy, then go for it and try it out!

Sea

That's what I have been thinking about. I would want to go to enjoy the atmosphere, the music, the special parades and fireworks, etc. I always hear people say "we walked right onto all the rides during the party". That's great, but what I want to know is how crowded everything else is. . . Since the rides are walk ons, does that mean that main st is going to be wall to wall people and the character lines are going to be enormous? And we are going to be shoulder to shoulder to see a parade and fireworks???

The kids would probably want to do rides and not wait in lines for special holiday things. And if we are just going to do rides we might as well just forget it. We can do that any night.

Hey, maybe I should just go alone!!:lmao:

That's great Kim! I hope he continues to get more good news.

If the crowd is between 25,000 -35,000 people, then I think you will be able to do a variety of things. Since MK is so big and spread out, it will definitely be easy to get around. As for knowing how many people show up, well, your guess is good as anyone elses. I do know as it gets closer to the holiday, the special events get more crowded. Around here for Halloween, the week before the holiday, the special event nights are sold out. I would think that would be the same for WDW too. I would also pick an off night, like Jo recommended, maybe a Sunday or Monday.

What I also noticed as it got later and later, the parents with littler kids went home early. As it got later, rides and character meet and greets were very easy to access, because the kids were sleepy and had enough.

Glad to hear the good news about your FIL. I hope he continues to get good reports.

Last year it was offered on Tues, Thur, and Fri. I was thinking that Tuesday would be the least busiest day. Except for the fact that will be the very first night it is offered! :upsidedow

You're probably right about the crowds thinning out the later it gets. I'll just have to pump my kids full of sugar to keep them going all night!! :rotfl:

I am sure the boys wouldn't mind that. LOL :lmao:

Kim---- such wonderful news about your FIL!!! Here's praying that the pancreas biopsy comes back negative as well!

Shelly-- hum let's see what I remember about the things other than the rides at the party....:rotfl2:
Of course the character meet and greets at Halloween are crowded- it's the Villans so you don't see them often- (Maleficent? she freaks me out,LOL) We stayed away from Main Street- b/c honestly- there isn't a lot to do there- shops and bakery. At the MVMCP they give out cookies and hot chocolate- but how much can you eat of those before you puke?:goodvibes I'd never watch the parades from Main Street even on a regular night to begin with....;) so that doesn't make a difference to me. We found our spot for the parade (the second one- it's less crowded and while everyone is watching the first one you are elsewhere---) about 15 minutes before it started.... yes there were people around us, but no one behind us...
the later you can stay -- the slower it will be. Except on opening night they will be working the kinks out of the season. I know this is gonna sound crazy, but with your trip being the days that they are and the times you might fly back- maybe you should go on Friday night? That way if you had to sleep late on your departure day that would be okay and not interfere with your touring plans too much.:confused3 It is gonna be crowded that whole week no matter when you go b/c it's opening week.
Sea is absolutely right- you go for the atmosphere - it has a special feel to it during the party- and if rides are a walk on, it's just a bonus. remember too that once you buy them- you can't get a refund. they mail them to you when you buy them- they are not on your KTTK card.
You could also just plan your days- keeping in mind that you might want to go- and buy them when you get there.
I would not go on opening night b/c many people won't even know about the party until they get there over the weekend and see it's a party going on and buy them then.
okay I'm all over the place with my thoughts I know.

:rolleyes1
Best day IMO? Thursday, followed by Friday. Unless you don't want it taking up too many days- then I'd do Friday- sleep in Saturday.:cool2:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Don't tell the boys' dentist!

I know!!

:faint:

Well, while you were gone all afternoon I was working up a new schedule that included the party on TUESDAY night!!! :upsidedow Go figure, we saw things differently! :confused3:lmao:

I was thinking that Tues might not be too bad. A week night, plus so far from Christmas. But maybe you are right. It could be packed on the first night.

Oh my, I am getting a headache! :headache:

Like I said, good thing I still have 2 months to decide! :rotfl:

Yay Mari on the good grades!!! :woohoo:

And great news about your FIL, Kim :goodvibes

Shelly, I just know that I skipped going to MNSSHP when we went in late September, and I'm really sorry we missed it. The HEADLESS HORSEMAN was in the parade!!! :scared1: That would have been so cool to see. And I've seen pics of Sea and company at the DCA Halloween party, and it looks like so much fun. From now on, for my birthday, I want to schedule my trip just a little later so I can see all of the neat Halloweeen stuff at the park -- the HM overlay, the SM overlay, I missed both of those last time. I know you are talking about the Christmas party, but I wouldn't want to miss doing that at least once, too...

Afternoon all...

School was LONG today... had statistics and for one of my classes I had to hear the lecture online. With all the snow we had that class has been cancellled and we are so behind... Enough about school....

I so want to go to Dis this year... but it doesn't look like that is in the works.... I dont think we are going until next march or something like that.... Boo.... but my DH told me that if we don't have anything planned by end of this year for us to make our plans to go in May of 2011..... so I'll be happy about that at least.... so that means i have to start my Dis fund....

I guess I didn't realize it opened this weekend. I don't know! The kids haven't really mentioned too much about it.

Actually we are thinking about heading to the other Disney Store in Pittsburgh and seeing if it is any better than the other one! :wizard:

Hi Shelly!

Are you going to go see Alice in Wonderland? It opens this weekend!

My big plans for this weekend are to go to the Bach festival at my church -- they have a series of concerts going for two weekends, but the ones I most want to see are this Saturday night, and maybe also Sunday afternoon. (Yep, I like Bach, as well as the Beatles and Led Zeppelin ) But now I have to see about maybe catching a matinee on Saturday, too! The movie looks great, and I love Tim Burton and Johnny Depp :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone! Jumping on while I have a minute.

My big plans for the weekend involve taking the kids to a birthday party at a germ infested bouncy place. I'm dreading it and will be fully bathing them when we return home. Other than that we are hoping to get more done on our slooooow moving garage project. We are way behind because of all the snow. I have a new baby girl starting in mid-May and am crossing my fingers it's done by then. By the way, the baby's name is Lena. Thought you might like that Sea. ;)

Have a good Thursday MAYers! It's almost Friday!

Okay- everyone send Shelly your best MAYer thoughts and wishes--- she's got the stomach bug that's going around.:sad2::guilty:

The MAYers love you Shell--- get better very soon.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :snooty::snooty: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hello to everyone else----
this weekend, I will be pondering which suitcase I should drag out on Wednesday morning-
'cause on Wednesday night---

I'm going SOLO to Charleston!!!!:goodvibes

There's an oyster festival going on and Mom asked me to come-- Mark's keeping the kids and off I go!:cheer2: Yay!!!!!

Hope all is well with everyone--

We are doing well- my back pain is finally getting better.

Sea---- thanks for sparing the warmer temps for us-- on the early morning news the weather man said "We have an area of low pressure headed our way thanks to California..."
and I yelled-- "Thanks Sea!!!!!!!!!!!!":lmao:

It was quite funny since it was 5:30 and no one was around to hear me.

 It's gonna be almost 60 degrees today! Yay Spring!:flower3:
