OK, wth?

I'm almost 50 and LBL has started to kick in. That's expected I suppose. But peeing your pants is not supposed to be part of the deal, right? I can't believe I peed my pants. :scared: Please tell me others have done this.

I did about 2 yrs ago. Was coming home from store. Thought I could make it. The flood gates opened as I was running up the stairs and there was no stopping them.

then tonight, just standing in the kitchen drinking a cold soda after bringing in the groceries, and again, instant I gotta pee right now, and couldn't even make it to the bathroom. And there was no shutting it off.

Never had kids. I'm am not sick. No infection. I mentioned the first instance to my doc when I told her I was experiencing LBL lately, but she just brushed it off. Now its twice in 2 yrs.

I can't take this. Is this more of the stuff people don't tell you when you hit 50?!

Perhaps I need to trade in the pkg of Poise liners I just bought for a box of Depends! :scared:

Are you sure that you are not coming down with something? I had that happen to me a few times when I was quite sick with pneumonia.

Yep, not afraid to admit this has happened to me a couple times. No warning, suddenly have to go and get barely two steps. So far I have not had it happen any where but home. But I have started carrying a pair of panties in my car, just in case.

OP you should go see a urologist. I have some leaking and stress incontinence (sneezing or coughing with a full bladder will do it every time). I did have full work-up with a urologist just to make sure there was nothing else going on. I'm now on medication and it has made a huge difference for me.

I'm not sure exactly what LBL stands for but I have an idea...

I am almost 50 and I have not had this happen. Even with a sneeze. I have had two kids. Much of this type of stuff, according to my doctor, is hereditary based on what your body is going to do as you age. Yours is significant enough that I do agree you should see a urologist and have the surgery done. That's way too much. I know of some older women who did NOT want to have that done and they pretty much live in diapers.

Also, one thing my doctor did tell me is to make sure I never let myself get a full bladder (I know that's not always possible) and to stay away from things that would irritate the bladder--mainly sodas and diet sodas. Tea can have that effect too.

It happens.

However I would still go to the doctor and get your urine tested. Just because you *think* you do not have an infection does not mean you don't have one.

This happens to me as well as a couple of my friends now that we are "at that age". All of a sudden I have to go. It doesn't mean I have a full bladder as there are times when I know I have a full bladder and it doesn't mean anything. I have a hard time when sleeping though. I really watch what I drink before going to bed because if I have much of anything in me I will have this nice dream about going to the bathroom somewhere and then wake up to the "oh no it's coming" part. I have talked to some of my friends and some have a problem like this and others are okay.

Weird thing. I can drink water before bed, sleep all thru the night, and wait to pee until I get up just fine.

This is not LBL. LBL is leaking a very tiny amount when you sneeze or laugh. What you're experiencing is more serious and not a normal part of aging. You need to see a doctor - doing Kegels won't help this sort of thing, but there is medication that can. And when you talk to your doctor, Don't refer to it as light bladder leakage - tell her specifically what's happening.

OMG, this happens to me all the time. I bet 2-3 nights out of 7 I have at least one dream in which I am looking for the restroom. Usually I am dreaming that I'm in or near water, like a water park or a beach. In the dream I run to the nearest restroom and try to find a stall. I usually wake up just about the time the urine hits my underwear.:upsidedow Very occasionally I will actually wet the bed. Thankfully my DH is very understanding. I write it up to the fact that I've had 4 pregnancies, two 9-lb+ babies, and I'm overweight.

minkydog glad I'm not the only one the dreams happen to. Usually the toilets are in really weird places and are open. I keep trying to tell myself before going to sleep that if I have to go to the washroom in my dream to WAKE UP. Some dreams however I will be saying I am awake don't worry LOL

I do that too. It doesn't help.:scratchin

Funny. Thanks for quoting me, but I wasn't asking for a diagnosis like the thread you quoted me from, medical advice or opinion. ;) Was making light of the situation & asked if others peed there pants too at this age. ROFL :goodvibes

Difference. ;)

Wow, the DIS has gotten so friendly lately. :crazy2:

I had an urgent problem until I lost 30 pounds, so there's that. I'm still a bit fluffy, and I have those dreams. My new policy is if I wake up during the night, which is often, I get up and go. Even if it doesn't feel like I need to.

A few drops is normal at your age. Actually peeing your pants is not normal. I don't want to alarm you, but when my aunt had similar symptoms it was because she had a tumor. See your doctor.

I have been checked out and I am fine. My Dr. did say that it can sometimes happen to women at that age.
