We are all packed. The car is cleaned up and now all I have to do is change the oil Monday night. Then it's waiting for 2 days before we leave for Florida!

I am kinda bummed that It's tough to be a bug is going to still be down for refurb. I love that attraction. Oh well, hopefully everything else will work out.

I know how you feel. :sad1: It's Tough to be a Bug was my favorite too. Seeing all my friends in all their Disney glory was really something. Now we'll just have to meet around the dumpsters like we always do. At least you have the consolation of knowing that I will be at the Beach Club the week of August 10th as well as every other week. Listen for me as I will be sure to buzz on over and say hello!

Signed, your pal Buzzy the fly, your Beach Club Resort guy

I was hoping to possibly run into Buzzy at it's tough to be a bug, so I'm sad too that the attraction is down.

I thought I'd just go on to MDE and change the FP+ I had for It's tough to be a bug, and I see that they've already changed it for me, and have decided that I want to see Festival of the Lion King instead. My reservation was changed, with a slightly different time, with no input from me into the system.

I'm surprised they would just put in a new Fast Pass + reservation for me, without giving me any notice of the change. :sad2:

Psst....

Grey Goose Citron Vodka and Lemonade Slush - 8 ounces $9.34

Grey Goose Citron Vodka and Lemonade Slush - 12 ounces $15.96

Buy 2, put the one you don't finish in the mug and cart it around with you, sipping leisurely as you enjoy things like Spaceship Earth or even better Off Kilter.

Mwa ha ha....

Now, that's what I call, "DOIN' THE MATH"! :cool1:

Had a tomato sandwich for lunch!
Can't wait to see you too!

Nettie - well I'll still honk the horn when we are driving through Lumberton!
Hopefully it will be before your flight leaves! We are leaving home around 9 or 9:30 Friday night. Hope we make as good time as we made during our Universal/Easter break trip. 15 hours! Usually takes us about 17.

We hope to check into YC around 2 or 3 Saturday afternoon. I'll look for you! You know I am your stalker!

:wave2: Eating a BLT, made with a JERSEY tomato (from our garden) literally as I read this post!
Because in my world everything in life has only 2-3 degrees of separation from WDW.... I have a Disney story that involves, of all things, Jersey Tomatoes!--
DH and I checked into Caribbean Beach in 1988 on the 1st day it opened for guests. On the way from the resort to the parks, we were the only ones on the bus. So we struck up a conversation with the driver and chatted the whole way. Come to find out he was a NJ native and he said one of the things he most missed about NJ was the tomatoes!! He said, "There is no tomato in the world like a Jersey Tomato!"
So true!

I can finally say - one week from today we will be checking in to YC!!!

I am soooooo ready for this vacation!
Teena - see you next Sunday (with tomatoes and tasty cakes!)

Robyn - Me too! :cool1: So, looking forward to a little Disney time! It should be fun! :goodvibes

And I just had a delicious salad with fresh tomatoes and Yellow Pepper from my garden. Hope Teena likes Maryland tomatoes too!

Nothing beats Jersey tomatoes and corn. I have a dozen sweet ripe tomatoes from the garden ready to eat.

Yes there are lockers at the pool but most people just leave their stuff with Bell Services while at the pool. When you are ready, we can take you back to get whatever you want out of the luggage room. Totally up to you but sometimes it's easier to store with Bell Services ... no size limits, etc.

Sorry about all that is happening. Hang in there!!!!!

Great thanks for the fast reply. We need a place to lock up my purse and DH wallet while at the pool. So it looks like we will be able to stash those items in a locker. At least something will go my way. Even if it is a small thing such as a locker. Now if I could just find a lucky penny!

I'm still in a bit of sticker shock with the $7,100 BC vacation for April 4-10th, for a family of five. (Kids are 12, 9, 3). I'm booked and hoping to stay...but I looked around a little more tonight, thinking I should be more responsible. Not as many lower cost options since we need accommodations for 5, but I find over and over again POR-Riverside significantly less, even less than the value resorts (I guess because I would have to get a suite at a value and it only averages out to be about $50-75 more a night to stay at BC over a value. Why is POR so much less? (For me it will be about $1100 less, maybe a little more) we don't get to vacation often and will be in disney for only our second time in 7 years so I'm trying to justify the cost.

I like both BC and POR. In fact, we are doing a split stay with one night POR and 6 nights BC in October. I think the main difference would be the square footage. BC rooms are very roomy compare to POR. With kids that age, it might make a big difference for you. The other consideration is, of course, the pool. Not knowing your plans, I think you could save on water park tix by staying at BC with storm along bay. Your older kids will love it!

The other strength of BC vs. POR is location. We love love love walking into EPCOT and HS. Plus, the Boardwalk offers entertainment and a great strolling place.

I think you would be fine at POR. However, if you can afford the price difference, I think you would be much more comfy at BC. Those little things add up over a week with your precious family all crammed into one room. Good luck with your decision! No matter what, I am sure you will have a great time!

Thank you so much...those little things do add up. We need the space and we didn't book the water park option since we have such a great pool complex at BC. Not being stressed by being cramped in a room is a big deal to me....I like the way you think!! You helped me feel more comfortable with my decision. All the resorts are expensive during Easter week, but we really don't have any other options regarding time of travel...so, I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and save the pennies!!

Should be getting off the ME in about 12 hours!:cool1: Can't wait to walk through the BC doors:banana::banana::banana:So excited:woohoo:

We are staying at the Beach Club in late January and early February. A few questions:

1). Do all club level rooms have the large balconies?

2). When are room renovations expected to start? I know they have started on the lounge.

3). Is the club lounge still open 24/7?

Thank you! Excited for the beach club! I finally convinced hubby to make the jump from wilderness lodge.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

1) Unfortunately, no, not all of the club level rooms at the BC have full balconies. It is a higher percentage than the rest of the resort (about 75%). All rooms in the BC CL GV room category do have full balconies, though.

2) Not sure when the work on the club level rooms will start

3) As far as I know, lounge is still open 24/7. Not sure if that has changed now that the renovation has started to take place.

Can anyone confirm?

:)

So if I've called and put in my requests for my room, is it okay to do the online check-in? Or would I be better off checking in when we get there and leaving our bags if our room is not ready? I'm assuming that with online check-in your room is usually ready when you get there. :scratchin

Just wondering the best way to check in.

Thanks

You should be fine doing the online checkin. I don't necessarily think it will impact whether your room is ready or not when you check in, though, unless you indicate that you want your requests to be overridden if there is a room ready.

:)

I'd like to know this as well. We will be just getting off the Fantasy and wondering if I have to stand in line or can we just drop off our bags and hit the parks if we do Online Check-in.

:welcome:

Are you staying at the BC or YC after your cruise? Let me know if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Not really sure of the process when you checkin online. Can someone describe what happens after you are approached by one of the CMs with a tablet?

:thumbsup2

Just wanted to post a quick note of thanks for all the good info on this thread. We are leaving on Wednesday for my birthday trip (August 13-17 at the YC) and I really appreciate all the advice and tips.

We booked through Orbitz so I am hoping that if I call tomorrow Disney will have our reservation loaded in and I won't need to make room requests through Orbitz. I know there are other posts elsewhere about this but I couldn't find them again. What I understand is that Orbitz "owns" the reservation up until the "free cancellation" period expires and then Disney owns it. Anyone know anything about this (or about requesting room preferences through Disney when you booked through orbitz)?

Thanks again!!!:sail:

:welcome: and you are welcome!

I'll put you on as a last minute addition to the Be Our Guest list.

:yay:

I don't know the answer about Orbitz and room requests.

Well, DD15 had her 1st day of school yesterday and I have discovered she is having exams a week early this year...starting 12/8. We are supposed to fly home from the GF that day. Of course, I am booked on orbits so I can't modify, I have to cancel and rebook. There is always a catch to a great deal! :headache: Bad news is GF isn't avail if I try to move the trip by a day. We were looking forward to trying it. Oh well.

Looking to switch to 11/16-25. I am seeing YC avail on wdw or BC avail on orbits. YC is about $175 less and is a GV. BC is a WV. Is there speculation as to how long the reno will take at BC? Anyone know how long it took at other resorts done recently? I would love a newly reno room at BC, but if it probably won't be finished by then I will probably pick YC. We stayed at BC in May 2013, and although we loved it , the room was in pretty rough shape. Not unbearable, but I assume it would be even worse now.

Any thoughts? BC would be my 1st choice for location as well, since YC is further from BCM.

YIKES!!!

Please let us know when/where you finally end up and I'll change your listing.

:goodvibes

TeenaS Gotta question for you. Are there lockers we can use by the pool to stow our valuables while we hang out at the pool on check out day?

Hope to see you soon.

But at this rate I am not holding my breath. We had 2 deaths in the family and a nephew admitted to the hospital all in a 10 day period. Now the washer machine is acting up. If a hurricane hits in the WDW area in the next few weeks you all can blame me for it. At this crazy rate it just may happen. :sad2:

I am so sorry to hear about all that your family has been through lately.

I hope things start looking up for you.

We were approached by a CM after getting off the ME. They asked if we had done online check in and I said that we had. They walked us over to the reservation desk, where we waited just a minute or so for a CM. The check in took just a few minutes compared to the fifteen or so minutes it used to take before the days of MDE and online check in. But the best part was the room was ready when we got there at 11am. :thumbsup2 This was on a Wednesday morning and whenever we travel on Wednesday, the check in never seems too crowded.

Just left the BC. It was nice, but not great. The club lounge is now in the Presidential suite. Very cramped, no nice coffee machine. There is a new pool policy. You cannot use the lockers or showers at the fitness center. That area is reserved for those who are getting spa treatments. We were told to use the lobby restrooms. We booked a room for 5, but got a room with only 2.queens. they put a rollaway in that completely blocked the balcony door.

Stirmalong bay was great, but the only hot tub that was working was by the kiddie pool. Overall, I was very disappointed.

Sorry about your disappointment. I've been curious to hear back from people who have experienced the temporary lounge, so thanks for posting your thoughts.

As far as the rollaway, I completely understand what you went through. We are only a family of 4 but with 2 older kids so we truly need a daybed. We too were given a rollaway that we did manage to put in the exact spot where the daybed would've been, but unfortunately it did mean we had to put other furniture elsewhere in the room. It was a mess, for sure, we were only there 2 nights so it didn't affect us much, but I do wish during the refurb they would find a way to fix the room configurations in such a way to include a daybed in all rooms.:thumbsup2
