What's the situation like at Kona Cafe? We have a reservation there, and while I love it there, and I think it might become a casualty of the remodel, if it's all boarded up and a mess, we may move elsewhere (maybe GF cafe, or The Wave, as by then we will be in the GF portion of our trip).

It's there ... you get off the monorail and the coffee bar and kona café are untouched ... however, the view is pretty much a wall. It's a real mess over there!!!

While we are at the GF, Jeanne wants to take the monorail to MK and then the boat over to Fort Wilderness to eat at Trail's End every morning. Maybe our last day there but I'm not spending my mornings traveling. And driving isn't any better. You'd have to park at the Fort and take a bus into where the restaurant is. It would probably be faster to go by monorail and boat.

Personally I'd eat at the GF Café if I were you.

We cancelled our Ohana reservation too.

No chicken, no salad - no go.

It's the first time in all the years we've been gone to Disney that we aren't eating there. Sad.

Everytime I see this I still think really, you got rid of the CHICKEN?

Always had great meals at GFC!

We have an ADR at Kona too during our GF stay and was wondering the same thing. But we already have 2 ADRs at GF Cafe. A breakfast & a lunch.

Every day :scared1: yikes! Lol! We had 1 breakfast booked, untill we switched to GF. Decided to change to GF Cafe.

We do all day at MK tomorrow with dinner at Be Our Guest.
Then we have the Frozen package at Hollywood Studios on Saturday and will be at that park all day.
Sunday is morning at Epcot with lunch at Norway and then home to rest.
Monday we check into the Grand Floridian!!!

Can't wait to hear about GF stay. Did you make a bldg request? We hope to get Boca Chica.

Thanks! I was actually looking at the inflatable noodles on amazon but wondered if they had to be clear at SAB? If not I think I will just bring those along instead. We prefer a noodle over a tube and would like to have our own :)

Noodles don't have to be clear. My friend had one last year for our Y c stay. Now I can't find mine :(

Is anyone sure that these are even allowed at SAB? I asked about it before in this thread and it seemed no one knew if inflatable noodles we allowed, but if someone has info about it now I'd love to know!

The inflatable noodles are much much larger than foam noodles, I do have a set that I am considering leaving at home because of the size of them.

Has anyone actually used or seen these inflatable noodles used at SAB?
Yes!! My friend had one last August. Now if I could only find mine, ugh!!

I know, right?!? I'm a traitor.;) But we enjoy the Y&BC very much, especially in the hot months - SAB, 'nuff said!:teeth:

Thanks for all the insight. I think we are leaning more and more to YC, for all the reasons you and Wood Nymph pointed out. As I've mentioned on the GF FAQ, red is not my favorite color, which makes the BC rooms more soothing to me - but the overall rooms at YC are nice, too.

We will have our car, I think we are planning on bringing our own b'fast items, anyway, so that's not much of an issue.

Sounds like we may have had the same room you are describing, was it CL? We had a YC CL room that was over the front portico, shared balcony. Like you, we were the only ones out there 99% of the time. Usually, the other room guests would pop out when they checked in, look around and then never be seen again.

Doesn't sound bad at all, I agree.:goodvibes We don't spend a lot of time on the balcony, but when we do, we are sitting, so the view would be mostly of what is in the distance.

Thanks again!:flower3:

Our YC room wasn't CL. But was a great room, and close to the elevator!! So no long trudges down long halls!
Love SAB in August. But also love the GF beach pool, and looking forward to our stay, in Aug :beach:

We typically stay in Moderate resorts, but stayed one night at YC between a longer stay at CBR and a 3 night cruise on the Dream. Y/BC has also been our dream resort due to SB. We couldn't wait to give it a try. We were excited to spend the whole day at SB and then utilize the fact that Epcot was so close. We had a truly fantastic day. We chose YC over BC because I have repeatedly heard it was quieter and each room has a balcony. We loved the location of our room at YC (2nd floor, garden view...close to the main lobby...maybe about 5 or 6 rooms down)....EXCEPT for one thing. The neighbors next to us in the adjoining room...were God-awful loud. We have 8 year olds and they know to be quiet and have since they were very young, especially early in the morning. These people were brutal. We couldn't believe how thin the walls seem there. We have only experienced this level of inconsideration once and that was at Pop...we chalked that up to "you get what you pay for."

SO... My question is... Have you experienced this at YC? Are the walls just thin in general? We loved the resort so much, we would like to stay the entire week there, but DH is hesitant for that reason alone. If we were staying longer, I would've asked to be switched, but since it was a one night stay, we had to make do. I'd love to hear your thoughts...TIA!

We only experienced that kind of inconsideration once at POR. Thankfully it was new neighbours on our last day. Or I would have asked to be moved. Kids running up and down outside walkway yelling & screaming, repeatedly banging doors, out of control :sad2:

Yep, our favorite building is Conch Key. Our second favorite is Boca Chica. I know they are running full while we are there so there is a good chance we won't get what we requested.

We ate a last minute, unplanned dinner at The Wave last month and it ended up being everyone's (including the kids!) favorite restaurant of the trip. (There were 9 of us, btw). I highly recommend it!

I ate there for lunch last week. The center is all boarded up but the restaurant and the sushi bar are untouched. You can still see outside where the monorail is. It didn't seem to hurt their business, they were still pretty full, even for lunch.

Teena sounds like you have some wonderful plans. I love GFC but I would definitely check out Trails End. I have read some wonderful reviews of it

Trail's End was amazing. They had a bowl of tomatoes for display at breakfast. They were beautiful ... looked with Jersey tomatoes. Anyway, we were going to stop on way home to buy some tomatoes. Jeanne and Bob wanted open faced cheese sandwiches with tomatoes on them. I asked the CM behind the counter if they sold the tomatoes. He went in the back and asked and came out and said how many do you want. I said three. He came back with three beautiful tomatoes and I asked him if he wanted me to pay separate for them or could he put them on our buffet bill. He said, "no charge". We all just stared at each other and I jumped up and gave him a hug. We had them last night and they were the best tomatoes we've had since we moved to Florida.

Had many, many, little "magical" moments like that on our trip last month. Can't wait to go back to the BC in just 34 days!!!
