:lovestruc My son who is in the Navy sent us(parents) Disney Theme Park tickets in the mail . He told us Disney was on him and to have a Good time, and not to worry about the cost, because he bought them on Base. To say I was stunned:yay:. But I thought he had to be with us in order to use these tickets, he told us no. Just go and have a good time:hug:. So can we( his parents) use these tickets. If not I'll have to send them back. If anyone know please let me know. TIA

Do they say "Military" tickets on them anywhere? Or that you'll need to present ID at the gate? If not, there is no reason to think you wouldn't be able to use them.

As long as they aren't the Military Salute Tickets, you can use them. If they are the Military Salute tickets, he would have to be there to activate them before you can use them and if they are, is it possible he activated them for you already?

I am sorry that I don't have an answer for you, but you have the BEST son in the world!!!!

My father-in-law treated us to (military) tickets two or three trips ago. Luckily, he went with us. The one and only time we entered the park without him (he wanted a later start than we did), the CM did ask who was in the military. We told her it was our father-in-law (who was still sleeping in the hotel). She let us in. I'm not sure how that would work if your son did not go with you.

I also have no answer for you, but wanted to also add that your son is a sweetheart who obviously loves his parents very much! No doubt you are proud of him for many reasons!

If the tickets are hard plastic and say Disney Armed Forces Salute they cannot be used in the turnstiles until they are activated.

Activation can only be done at a Walt Disney World Ticket or Guest Relations Window. They can only be activated in person by someone with either an Active Duty or Retired Military ID Card or a Dependent Card (DD-1173) that specifically shows a relationship of Spouse or Unremarried Widow.

And these rules are very strictly enforced.

If the tickets are on a cardboard/Tyvek stock and say Magic Your Way they are valid and do not require activation.

Wait a minute. Something doesn't seem right.

My Magic Your Way ticket (a base ticket) from December 2010 does not have "Magic Your Way" or "MYW" printed on it.

It reads:
10 DAY (1 THEME PARK PER DAY) AGES (10+)
Expires 14 days from first use
(codes on the bottom)

(Are there other kinds of tickets that expire 14 days from first usage or can that description be hard evidence that the ticket is a standard upgradable ready-to-use ticket?)

I read that the military ticket offer and hotel discount was extended to Sept. 2012.
My husband is retired. We are going in May.
Since it is being extended, could I (spouse/with military ID) book a room with the discount and buy tickets without him there for next year? I don't think I will be able to get him back so soon.

Yes you can as a spouse. It is the active member, or spouse that can make ressies, and activate and buy the salute tickets. We're going next month, and taking DH's family, he's stationed in Miami, so I bought the tickets, activated them already, and booked the room with the 40% off. So you should be fine.

I have not heard that it has been extended tho, that's a nice treat!

there are 2 kinds of tickets. he can buy normal everyday tickets at MWR or ITT( he just pays slightly less and no sales tax) but can be used by ANYBODY.

the Salute tickets are the special ones that must be activated by the ID holder first on site.
