Theme Ideas

"To only think I just have a few days left and it will all be over."

Are you going to your execution, or your wedding? ;) That's okay, I know what you meant. But---No, Princess Amy--it will just be beginning. That's what a wedding symbolizes, right? The beginning of a wonderful, exciting journey together with the man you will be promising to love, cherish, and honor-- forever?

It will be far from "over" when you dance your last dance, toss the bouquet and walk out of the reception as Mr. And Mrs.

Actually, Kimnkel, I was talking about the planning and rushing to get everything in order and done on time. I am perfectly happy to be getting married. If I wasn't thrilled I wouldn't be doing it. Sorry you got confused. :confused3

And actually I was quite offended by your statements. I'm hoping I was reading this in the wrong text, because I'm sure I know what marriage is and why I am doing it.

My most precious decoration I received at my bridal shower. A friend of mine made a large Cinderella's carriage using a large fishbowl as the pumpkin, and used bent metal to form the rest of the carriage. It is used as a card holder. It is absolutely gorgeous!!! So after the wedding we are thinking of using the fish bowl as what other than.... a fish bowl. We are thinking of placing a small castle in the middle and adding a few fish so it's something we can have around the house. We can always look at it and remember our wedding day. Awww!!

your coach decoration sounds beautiful, and even more precious as it was hand made for you.

This is my first post.. I hope i do this right!

Our theme is Fairytales Come True.

Wedding is June 31, 2007 Sea Breeze Point

I have made my invitations. They are blue with Velium jackets. Cry packs with castle punches glued on ( with small bags of Gummi Bears, DF fav candy, ring pillow with glass slipper and lots of rhinestones, made all my flowers. (this was before deciding to have a Intimate Wedding at Disneyworld) they are all blue and pink flowers. Can't think of whatelse. We have redone everything after changing location.

I really want pink rose petals to walk on, but have to ask about this.

Making Welcome bags. Having 18 guests

 hello, :welcome: and congratulations! Your theme sounds sweet, and you're sooo creative too! I'd love to see your invitations if you don't mind sharing when you are able to post pics, and anyone else who wouldn't mind sharing their stationery and/or other creations.

thank you. i had to return alot bc the wedding was gonna be in Austin with 150 guests.

We decided we are gonna have dinner at Chef Mickey's after, i want to give out favors, but not sure what to do.

i really love the colors green (kinda like an olive green or different shades of green) and yellow (or yellowish/gold) together, and will probably have those be my colors. and i have this picture of a fairy (and the coloring is mostly tints and shades of yellow and gold) so one day i looked up at it and was like hmmmm.... kinda reminded me of tinkerbell. and i definitely want these colors regardless, but would it be kinda weird to have a tink-themed wedding?

That sounds like a great theme!!! You could incorporate other elements of Peter Pan, and have the Peter Pan books as favors, or pixi dust on the tables...it sounds so cute!

Those are so cute! What program did you use to design them? We must have the same taste because I always find myself responding to your pictures and threads because I love everything you did :) :)

our favors are slippers with hershey's hugs and kisses in them and the tags have cinderella and the prince on them with our names, date, and "Hugs and Kisses from the New Mr. and Mrs."....
:rotfl2: I'm doing something similar to this too! How neat!! :)

Since my color is a light blue and it's a garden-y spring-y theme, I bought the little blue tin buckets off of weddingchannel.com. I also bought pink tulle circles. I am going to fill the tulle circles with hugs and kisses and put those in the little buckets. And then I'm going to have a little card on the bucket that says, "Hugs and kisses from the Mr. and Mrs."........... :) :) :) I like the idea of putting them in glass slippers!! :)

LOL The reception is being held at the Whitehall Room and Patio using the Palm Court at the Ritz as decorating inspiration. (I'm not trying to re-create the Ritz - just the intimate, elegant feeling of the space.) The invitations will have an ornate Victorian design with a few hidden mickey's.

Instead of lunch reception we'll be having high tea! Centerpieces will incorperate flowers and herbs such as rosemary (which was used in many types of teas in the Victorian era as well as sympoblically meaning remembrance and fidelity). My favors will be in crackers, and inside will be after tea mints. :sunny:

Kmab00-- I love the idea of a springtime theme--I have a thing for pastel colors. ;)
PrincessDisneyBelle--That sounds wonderful, I love blues and pinks...and Welcome to the DisBoards! ;)

We are getting married in December. Our colors are cranberry and gold. I never thought of it in terms of a theme.. but it's definately going to be a hidden mickey wedding! I'm having crystal and pearl mickey's in the bouquets and boutineers, hidden mickey's in the scroll work on the cake, hidden mickey's on my garter belt, hidden mickeys in the way the centerpieces will be set up, in my jewelry, on the invitations, possibly on my veil, and hopefully a few on my dress. The groomsmen will all have mickey cuff links. One b'maid is going to carry a mickey pommander, the aisle decorations will have berries or bells made into mickeys in them. Basically, everywhere an anywhere we can get them in! I also want to make Mickey jingle bells for the guests to ring during dinner, but this isn't going well so far.. I'm really excited about this, because it doesn't scream mickey or Disney.. they are all going to be really subtle.. you'd have to look closely or know they are there in most cases. I think it'll keep me smiling all day, seeing and getting to point out hidden mickeys.

I'd love to hear more ideas on where we can squeeze in a few more mickey's!

Wow! That sounds really wonderful and elegant. Are you going to set challanges for your guests to spot as many as possible?

We had a beach theme! I was worried it would come out cheesy...but LOVE how it all looked together. Here are a couple pictures of the tables...

I was worried I'd be stuck with 18 of those centerpieces, but once I told people they could keep them, they were gone within minutes. Lol. Guess they were a hit.

I got married almost 3 years ago (gasp!) in November 2003.

We wanted a Cinderella theme - but we did not want the cartoon.

We wanted a Cinderella theme with a Royal Ball, extremely elegant look and feel.

I knew from the beginning I wanted to incorporate pumpkins into the event - to complement the November season as well as the theme.

I originally thought we'd do powder blue (my favorite color) but then I found dresses I absolutely adored in the most gorgeous shade of orange. It was called Papaya actually. I felt the color was exquisite, different, and would totally complement my original idea that we went for it.

So our theme was Cinderella Royal Ball and our color scheme was orange with gold accents.

Before you ask, my wedding was featured on the Food Network special. They said my theme was "Orange." Not quite true. We had gorgeous Cinderella wedding - with a somewhat non-traditional color scheme. And I loved every bit of it.

First - the Bridesmaid's dresses:

For the Save the Dates we sent out at 11-months out, we tried to set the Royal Ball tone to our wedding. On Parchment type paper I printed out letters, hotel information, etc. On the parchment envelopes, I used a Coach motif and it read "Your Coach is waiting to take you to the ball ..."

The envelopes were sealed with those Cinderella Coach Carlson Craft Stickers.

For our invites, we used scrolls. I worked with this amazing company in Australia called Message Scrolls. (This was one thing my DH wanted - Scroll invites on wooden dowels. Well this company was wonderful to work with.)

For our placecard table, I knew I wanted to use real mini-pumpkins with leaves attached as the placecards. To accent the table, my amazing husband used a Disney Pumpkin Carving Collection to carve two "Funkins" (Fake carveable pumpkins) to accent the table. He did an amazing job and we still take them out every Halloween.

(Disney Floral was supposed to swag the front of the placecard table and didn't so I wasn't totally with happy with how it came out ... but oh well"

We used the Cinderella Coach Motif on everything - welcome bags, programs, welcome booklets, etc.

This was the custom covers we made for mini photo albums that were included in our welcome bags.

Our programs included the "Fairy Tale Story" of our relationship. It was fun to write and a nice touch people commented on.

Our ring pillow was made using one of our rust and gold table runners and a gold coach ring box.

Instead of a rose petal toss we used Confetti Wands. They were like "Magic Wands" and on the tags read "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" (Disney I believe has since banned these)

I need to finish now - I will post more later.

Hope this helps inspire someone.

bubbaloo311 your theme was wonderful - so many individual touches, you are really creative. I love the papaya colour, it fitted your theme perfectly.

I'm using the coach for my stationery too, and had a rubber stamp made of that design and have already used it on my save the dates. I'm still figuring out how to post a pic!

We did a hidden mickey/cinderlla theme
as for adding more mickeys....we had all the groomsmen wear mickey ties as well with the subtle shapes...bridesmaids and i had mickey necklaces...had mickey shaped glitter in the centerpieces...mickey in the flowers...mickey charms on the girls shoes....and i doesnt last long but our flowergilrs had sashes and one of the moms tied them into mickey shapes (very cute)…it kind of turned into an obsession…but your right one that kept me smiling all day long

I adore the hidden mickey theming--plus that's something that gives a Disney touch, but hopefully not "too" Disney for DF...;) And Bubbaloo311--I can't tell you how much I loved your wedding touches when I saw it on the tv special--thank you for posting so many pictures--your little details are wonderful!!! JohnsPrincess--I love the beach theme--I love the little buckets with the almonds--what a cute favor!
