The Yuck Factor

I can't, for the life of me, remember a bad dining experience.

I agree! I've certainly had food at DW that I didn't care for, and service that wasn't great. But like PPs said, it wouldn't keep me from going back!

I had seafood souffle at CR and didn't care for it either, but probably someone likes it! There are usually differing opinions around our whole table - my DDs like mac & cheese better at different restaurants! (I thought it was all the same, but nope!:rotfl: )

We ate at Yakitori and I didn't like the noodles I got, but I didn't regret trying something new. That's the fun of most of these places for us - try something you don't normally eat! My DS tried the fish chowder at CR (sounded yuck to me) and we all ended up liking it! You just never know!

I don't let other opinions bother me - I might miss a great meal if I did!

From my personal experience, ABC Commissary was crowded, busy, confusing, and the food wasn't very good. Same with Electric Umbrella, although it was better than ABC Commissary. I was disappointed with San Angel for dinner. We like Mexican food and eat out at a lot of Mexican restaurants. San Angel was WAY more expensive and not as good as the places we are used to at home.

We had two negative San Angel experiences, one at lunch, one at dinner. Both times awful service (no drink refills, cold food, obviously been sitting) and way too expensive for the portion size.

I would advise against that. I've had good, even great experiences at many restaurants listed here. Every person is different; every experience is different. Just my opinion.

I can't remember the name of the place. But it's the rotating one in the Land. The food was strange, and you don't get to choose your menu. Weird. I know this isn't a restaurant, but I sware to the Big Man, that every time I eat in the food court at Pop Century, I am living in the john for at least 12 hours. I now pack food, if I know we will be staying there. The kids love that place...it gives me stomach cramps, just thinking about it...

I wouldnt go that far.. Everyone has their own preferences and experiences. Some of my favorite places are on this list and I have never had trouble. My yuck was CRT but it was the third time I have eaten there and the first 2 times were great. Every place has a bad day and on off night.

Kaylee, this past June we were seated in a booth against the wall at Cape May and a minute later I saw these gnats crawling all over the wall and on our table. We told the waiter who moved us and said they had the problem a week earlier but had people in to spray and thought that was the end of the problem, but apparently it wasn't. I'm sure they're gone now, but we also can't stand the food, bugs or no bugs, so it is still a "YUCK FACTOR" for us.

I posted about the bugs there when we arrived home from our trip and actually had someone telling me on these boards that I was crazy. Unbelieveable that some would think I'd lie about something like that.

I hadn't heard about that... Maybe they were trying to add a little extra protein from the bugs! :lmao: No, really, that's gross. Hopefully they'll have the bug problem under control when we get there.

ABC Commisary was absolutely disgusting every time we have tried it - breakfast lunch and dinner over the years, it just sucks! The food is always nasty, dried out, and just does not taste good.

Backlot Express - same problem.

Princess B-fast at Norway - the food was cold and everything smelled "fishy." We really didnt eat much.

Cosmic Ray's is so-so, we have had good food there and also have had really really bad food there too.

This is a fun thread to watch popcorn::

Hoop-Dee-Doo(Doo):scared:
We were sick for 2 weeks after eating there!

The corn had been boiled for days and the shortcake tasted like they covered the cornbread with whipped cream. :scared1:

If you read enough threads, you will have to delete all of your ADRs. This board is full of opinions. Many of them are from EXTREMELY picky eaters. Others are from people who love anything Disney puts out there. Still others wouldn't know good food if it bit them. I wouldn't put much stock in what people say here.

I totally agree. My three favorite places are most people's least favorites. Opinions are interesting but just that opinions. I say go for what looks good based on the menu and location. And then stop reading the reviews if they make you think twice otherwise you will be driven crazy! Ditto with what WDW resort to stay at since those all get mixed reviews as well.

Planet Hollywood! It was a truly disgusting experience! The waiter was rude, clueless and clumsy - he spilled salsa on my DS and me. The Cobb salad was almost inedible. The potato skins were covered in this congealed, greasy cheese. The atmosphere was awful. I don't usually mind noisy places, but this place was opressively loud. You couldn't even hear yourself think. The tables were crammed together. When the host showed us our table, I almost asked if he was kidding. There were 2 chairs that you could slide out about 2 inches until you ran into someone else's chairs at the next table. We just stood there trying to figure out how we were all going to even sit down. The host walked away before we were even in our chairs. We had to shift the table out about a foot. We should have turned around and left right away at that point!

I know Planet Hollywood is a chain and not owned by Disney. But Disney should just roll that big, plastic planet earth right off its property! It's a detriment to Mickey and his friends!

Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner in August 2005. Food was awful.

This is the one restaurant the family & I would never do again. :sad2:

Just for my family's opinion: We vote Boma and LTT for our Yuck places!

These are two of my favorite places!

I think a lot depends on what your personal tastes are and on how that particular restaurant is running on that particular day. Generally, my luck with WDW food has been pretty good--I've had many mediocre meals, but very, very few outright bad meals.

The bad meal prize, as far as I'm concerned goes to anything at the Coronado--I spent a week there for a convention last summer and the food was pretty dismal. The Pepper Market served food that was way past its prime and the less said about catered meals offered to convention groups, the better. The sad thing is that we had many people at the convention who never ate anywhere else and came away with the impression that Disney food was just awful.

I bet if this thread keeps going every restaurant in Disney will be listed once.

There's such a variety of restaurants listed in this thread it just goes to show you that every restaurant can have their off nights and everyone has different tastes. The only time I start to get concerned is if there's a consistent report of problems, but even then, if I really want to try said restaurant I will. :thumbsup2

After all, you know what they say, opinions are like... er.. hearts... everyone's got one. ;)

If you had asked me this a year or so ago, it would have been Alfredo's. We had eaten there and loved it, so were anxious to eat there again. It was just awful. We had a terrible server. Evidently, others were having similar issues since we were constantly hearing the manager calling 'Rudy, Rudy....get over here!' It was actually quite funny. If it hadn't been for the cold food we would have laughed it off. But, Rudy's bad service impacted every single thing about our experience at Alredo's. If it weren't for my friends insisting on going there to eat, I would never have gone back. It's back on my list of 'must do's' for each trip.
Now, Sci-Fi is a whole different story. Ate there in '03. We were there at opening..had ADRs for just as it opened. We were seated in one of the cars, in the back seat area. We could barely see the menu to order. While we waited for our food to arrive, they seated another family in front of us. Now, there were empty cars open all around us. Do I mind sharing with another family? Not usually. But this woman sitting right in front of us had very long hair that she kept swishing back, off her face. Where did it go? Right into my food!!! The food was overcooked, and not so very tasty. But others seem to love it here.

I think that you have to take each person's opinions with a grain of salt. Anyone can have a bad experience. It's when we see the same restaurant keep having bad reviews that we can assume it may not be the best place to eat.

The Plaza at MK for Dinner. Gross. I was completely unimpressed with the menu and the food was just blah.

Also, the TS restaurant at POR. I forget the name, but remember that the food was blech and that was February 2006.

I'm trying Kona Cafe on Friday. Will I regret it? It was the only place where I could get a decent time for an ADR before the P&P Party.
