The Yuck Factor

Pecos Bill in MK was the worst. The hamburger were really dry. I would say 1900 park fare was a close second(just not our type of food)

For us the YUKKY goes to:

drumroll:

it is a tie folks!

Hollywood & Vine and Tony's Town Square!

H&V for worst food ever placed on a buffet (how can you ruin a ceasar salad, as DH would say)

Tony's for the blandest most unpalateable mess called spaghetti & meatball (no s on there!)

Dishonorable mention to Spoodles simply for not offering a baked potato with their steak entrees.

OK I will add my yucks! Yachtsman Steakhouse, DH and I were both served 2 lovely plates of Grizzle it was disgusting!!!

THat took the YUCK prize for our family and what was the best part was it was DH's Birthday dinner! What a flop!

Kaylee, this past June we were seated in a booth against the wall at Cape May and a minute later I saw these gnats crawling all over the wall and on our table. We told the waiter who moved us and said they had the problem a week earlier but had people in to spray and thought that was the end of the problem, but apparently it wasn't. I'm sure they're gone now, but we also can't stand the food, bugs or no bugs, so it is still a "YUCK FACTOR" for us.

I posted about the bugs there when we arrived home from our trip and actually had someone telling me on these boards that I was crazy. Unbelieveable that some would think I'd lie about something like that.

I've never had a bad experience at Nine Dragons. I know a lot of people like to complain about it, and say it's too high a price and you can get better food elsewhere, but here in Orlando, there aren't a lot of great Chinese places. My favorite is Ming Court on I-Drive, but their food is very similar to Nine Dragons and also a little pricey.

It's interesting to see that people say they would never go back to this restaurant or that restaurant. I'd like to tell you the story of the best and worst meal of my December trip.

I had lunch twice at Le Cellier, about a week apart. Both ADR's were at the same time of day (about 10 minutes apart) just after the restaurant opened, both during the week, and I ordered the same meal both times. You would think the experiences would be very similar. NOT!

The first time, I arrived and was seated promptly. A server was immediately at my side to take my order. I ordered a burger, medium well, and a drink. The server very apologetically said the fryer for the fries was down and offered potato salad or mashed potatoes as an alternative. I ordered the mashed potatoes. Within 15 minutes, I had a perfectly cooked burger (one of the best I've ever had) and delicious mashed potatoes. My drink glass never got less than half full before it was topped off, and even as the restaurant filled up, there seemed to be a sense of organization. I didn't have to ask for the check, and the server returned promptly to see if I needed change or a cc charged. It was the best meal of my entire trip.

Not so the next week. I was seated about 15 minutes after my ADR, even though the restaurant wasn't full. They were seating walk-ins ahead of some of us with ADR times that had already passed (and yes, I did check in PRIOR to my ADR). Once I was seated, it took 20 minutes to even see a server, another 20 minutes to get a drink. At 45 minutes, my food order was taken (keep in mind, this was as the restaurant was opening, so it wasn't busy yet). After another half hour, I finally received a burned burger that wasn't hardly warm and cold fries. I never received a single top up or refill on the drink. I had to wait another 20 minutes for the check (and I had to ask for it) and fortunately I was paying cash, so I could just leave it and go. It seemed like the kitchen was backed up from the get-go, and there was a very chaotic feel to the restaurant that day. I was soooo glad to leave!

If I had only had the second experience, I might have been inclined to really complain about Le Cellier. After all, I got substandard service and food and it took a big chunk of time out of my day. But the other meal was literally the best meal of the entire trip, from the service to the food. If they had occurred in reverse, I may not have gone back, and I would have lost the chance to experience the terriffic meal.

Every restaurant can have an off day once in a while, from not having enough cast members working on a particular day, to problems with the equipment, etc. If it's a cleanliness issue, I would address that with a supervisor right away. If I had a really bad experience, I might not go back to that restaurant on the same trip, but I'd certainly give it another shot on another trip. Restaurant managers and cast members move around all the time, the menus change, so what was a horrible experience this time might just prove to be your favorite the next time around.

Excellent point. We have had the same thing happen to us at WDW. Have a terrific meal somewhere and next time we visit we're disappointed. Or the opposite. We had two bad meals at Alfredo's and didn't try it again for years until friends went with us last year and they wanted to try it and we had a fabulous meal. You really never know what kind of dining experience you are going to have until you try it.

I would nominate Sci-Fi. The atmosphere is awesome, so I can't say I will never go back, but the food was very poor. I tried the salad with chicken and the chicken was dry and overcooked and the dressing on the salad was not uniform and had an unpleasant taste. Croutons were mushy! Yucky.

The drinks and movies more than made up for the $50 lunch tab!

For us it was 9 dragons. We just didn't enjoy it at all and we didn't like the atmosphere.

Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. The food was really gross and tasted like a tv dinner. My mom and I felt so sick after eating there.

Dinner there pretty much *is* a TV dinner. Stouffers (the TV dinner people) is the "sponsor".

Lunch, on the other hand, is great. I keep wishing they'd dump the character meal or at least serve the lunch menu at Liberty Tree for dinner.

Well I have two to win the yuck award 1st would be. Chef's DE France and 2nd would be CC steakhouse

CDFrance the food was nasty the only good thing was the onion soup and I had steak and fries how hard can that be, for them it was hard. tough old tasting steak with mickey d fries. I sent it back and order chicken with pot. pot. were instant and chick dry as a bone at that point I had had 3 glasses of great wine and gave up on the food. The wine is good. best part of the meal. If I do go back it will before onion soup and wine.

CC steakhouse was so slow I think the had to go herd up the cow and go from there our ressie was at 7:00 and wishes was going off when we ask for our dessert to go. the food was good just a slow waitress.

The Big River Grill and Brewing Works on the Boardwalk was disappointing at the least. I wouldn't go back if my meal was free.

Seconding this one, which is unfortunate because their other location, in Chattanooga, TN, is fantastic! Great beers, huge menu variety, and although there are some mediocre dishes, there are enough good ones to make up for it (shrimp and grits, and BBQ chicken pizza among others).

Their Boardwalk location has 1/4 of the menu at three times the price and the food that I did have, the 'fall off the bone ribs' were lousy and tough.

I had never had a bad experience until this past week, and I hate to say it but- Whispering Canyon. We had originally planned to go for dinner on our first night, but ended up cancelling. It was just me and DH and it just seemed more like a family restaurant. However, as the week went on we decided our last day we would do lunch and was was able to get a reservation. I had heard so many good reveiws so I was very excited, and I couldn't wait to check out Wilderness Lodge. It started out great, I knew the servers wouldn't "pick" on us too much, which was fine, I kind of liked watching the others. There was a group from the Disney Institute there and they had to all stand up and sing "I'm a little teapot". We orderd the Nachos for apptizer, which was great, so I was enjoying myself. Then it took it's turn. It look forever to get our food, it was just the two of us, and it was lunch, and we both ordered the pork sandwhich. We thought it was part of the whole set up, let's see how long we can make the guest wait. I can't complain about the food, it was delicious, however it took forever for the server to come back again. I wanted to try the chocolate cake, however she never came back to take our plates or get our dessert order. Once she did, I just wanted to leave, so I didn't order it. I swear I saw another table get sat after us and was paying thier server about the time we got our food. We were in there almost an hour & a half and this was lunch. They only other time I was in a restaurant longer was California Grill. I can't say it was Yuck, b/c the food was great, the service was just horrible.

Our biggest yuck was at Mama melrose. The food was awful, cold and service was horrible and after we both got sick!

You just described our lunch experience at WCC. We were a group of 9, and I just thought it was our group size. I overheard the next table of 3 ask for their dessert to go because they were running late for something. We do plan on trying there again but for breakfast.

Biggest YUCK for me-Coral Reef.

We ate there in December for the first time. We thought there would be some great creative seafood items on the menu-pretty much the same token seafood options we had been offered everywhere else all week. (with the exception of the Ahi Tuna, but I wasn't in the mood for that) I decided to get 3 appetizers for my meal-the bisque soup-just ok and very salty. The crab claws-these were ok. Now for the YUCK part...the seafood souffle. I feel sick right now just thinking of it. It was gross looking. It looked like white catfood plopped out of the can. It even smelled like catfood. Perhaps if I had ever tried catfood in my life-well, maybe it even tasted like catfood. I just didn't feel "right" half way into it (remember, it is an appetizer and small-so I'm talking a few bites here)The rest of the evening was ruined...I just felt so sick. Within an hour I was in MouseGear running in search of a restroom. The next 12 hours I was not well. Never again! Too bad, the restaurant is pretty neat inside with the big tank and the mosaic tiles.

Worst service ever-'Ohanna.

VERY poor service on our last trip-we also weren't thrilled with the menu changes (with the exception of the desert-OMG that desert is SOOO good!) We'll probably try it again someday, just not for the next few trips.

I don't know what it is about Rose and Crown. My DH, DS and I all enjoy the food at the time. We have eaten there 3 times (years apart) but each time my son got sick later that night. He'd throw up and then be fine. I kept making excuses that something else made him sick, but after the third time, I guess we won't be back. I'll admit the last time I even felt a bit funny. We've even been to England he didn't have a problem with the same type of food. It could be he's allergic to something, but I don't know what it is; he doesn't have problems like this elsewhere. Does seem kind of weird.
Stressa

Hollywood & Vine for us, don't like setting, not enough waitresses/waitors to deal with everyone at busy times. The buffet selection was uninspiring. We only chanced it a 2nd time as a fantasmic package, won't be bothering again.

I am fortunate to have had relatively good dining experiences. That being said, my DS 7 and I dared DH to order wild boar at Alfredo. He had to take the dare, so he ordered it and it was his YUCK! experience. He ended up sharing my pasta.

We have always eaten at sit-down places from our 96 trip when DDs were 3 & 5. We have repeated places almost every year and tried new places every time too. We like to go to SciFI in the summer when it is hot for a late lunch. The food is good sometimes and OK others. I think we've been there at least 5 times.

Twice at Prime Time - liked it once.

Chef Mickey 5 times? Loved it twice, liked it twice, not good once.

Castle Breakfast 4 times. One bad experience.

Crystal Palace 4 or 5 times - one so so experence.

I think it depends like the previous poster mentioned - every place has a bad day now and again.

I really can not think of a place I'd NEVER return to. (1) Nine Dragons I've never heard any real good reports and DH ate there without me and did not like it and Chinese is one of his very favs.

We have enjoyed many of the places mentioned above. I let the weather help me decide. Some places are not good when the weather is really hot - too heavy. For example.

Id have to say the Princess Character Breakfast in Norway.... Just didnt like the food.. kinda cold and not too much to choose from. the atmosphere was great though... this was a tough choice because we have eaten at many places in disney and have been happy. We tried to just go to places with food that isnt too hard to mess up.... :confused3
