There is only one reason why people pitch a fit and complain loudly. It gets them what they want more often than not. As long as its effective, they will continue to do it! What is most disheartening is when a front line employee is saying "no," and the customer demands to see a manager. The manager caves in and gives the customer what s/he wants to get rid of the problem. The front line employee is demoralized and the customer's bad behavior is reinforced.
