The World of Warcraft Cataclysm Thread.

I rarely used vent...except when I raided..I just didnt find it fun any other time.

So DH and I played our female rogues again...and we pounded out almost 10 levels in 1 day..with NO BoA gear..just guild bumps. We are having a fantastic time, and are getting lots of looks still.

I was also popular being a orc female, I offered up my services so people could get the achievment as well.

I leveled my NE hunter a bit, and she has reached 78! Again, having fun, no rush..I got her into a nice level 25 guild, which has about 100 people on at any given time..so makes it nice.

It is Children's week . Did you know that you can go to your home city and Shatt to get both orphans and do the quests together? I didn't but I just finished doing so and got Legs and the snail as pets. Now, off to grab an Oracle from Dalaran :thumbsup2.

I haven't really been paying attention to the calendar and didn't realize it was kids week until I logged on this morning and saw kids running 100 miles an hour behind people on mounts.

Are there new pets this year? I don't recall a snail being an option before?

I didn't plan on doing the quests this year but might have to if there are new pets.

Just visited the WoW forums and the usual QQers are out in force about the "School of Hard Knocks" cheev.

Yes, two new ones this year. A really cute snail and a spore. I got both this morning.

I have only managed to do this 1x...and it was PURE luck...

BCB, sorry that your guild is kind of imploding. I really dislike drama in WoW. I play to get away from real life for a while and have some fun. I don't want to spend my "fun" time dealing with drama.

As for vent, we only use it when we're raiding or doing dungeons together. Occassionally, some other people from the guild will join in on the fun, but that's rare. I don't even have vent on my computer. My husband has it on his, and just turns the speakers up so I can hear what's being said.

Dax, grats on 78 and grats on 10 levels in a day!

I can do 10 levels in a day too! 1 - 10..... :rotfl:

Seriously, that's amazing to me... I played 4 hours yesterday, and completed Hyjal... and all I gained was half a level. However all of Hyjal gave me 2.5 levels and took about 12 hours, I bet... 135ish quests.

Thank for reminding me about Children's Week. We've been so busy lvl'ing our belfs, that I didn't notice.

WOO HOO!! My mage finally got her 125th pet. :dance3::banana::dance3:

We got every peice of BoA gear you could buy for them. Add that to the guild perk, and when we are on rested XP, it makes for some crazy fast lvl'ing.

There's two different ways to go about it. You can either see all the content by finishing up the quest lines in those zones before moving on, which is what you did.

Or you can try to level as quickly as possible, which means leaving one zone before you finish the quest lines. For example, leaving Hyjal the moment you turn 82 for Deepholme. Hauling butt to Uldum the second you hit 83. And then moving on to Twilight Highlands as soon as you hit 84.

So you can't beat yourself up for only getting that half of a level. The zone specific to whatever level you're on will give more XP for quests, as well as more XP for kills, since the mobs will be higher levels.

On my priest, I did every single one of the quests in all the new zones so that I could see everything. But I didn't do that on my lock or my pally since the object wasn't to see everything, it was just to level them to cap.

Since I finally did get my pally to 85, I started working on my hunter again. But I'll tell you the truth, once I hit Outlands, my momentum just died. I don't know what it is about that place that just takes the wind out of my sails.

It's because Hellfire Peninsula is a terrible zone.... Same with Blade's Edge.... and even Netherstorm of you ask me... But I do like Nagrand and Zangarmarsh. Plus, IMO, Outlands just seems to level slower than Northrend to me.

So, 2 dumb questions....

How do I get BoA gear if I don't do a ton of instances?

How do you determine your DPS without an addon?

You would think that after 6 years I would know all of this, but I truly am a casual player, and WoW is just my stress reliever.

RE: Outlands -- I used to love it once I hit Outlands...but I guess since is the 5th character going through it, maybe it's just gotten old. Who knows?

RE: BoA gear -- There are two types of BoA gear. PvE and PvP. You can get the PvP gear with honor points. You can get the PvE gear with Justice points.

Since the new patch, you can trade honor points for justice points, so if you like to do battlegrounds and such, you can use the honor points to get PvE boa's. I think the ratio is something like 375 honor gives you 250 justice points.

But other than doing the dungeons to get the justice points or doing the battlegrounds and trading your honor points for justice points, I don't think you can get the boa's from the heirloom vendor.

There are a few other boa's out there though.

If your guild is a level 10 and you are honored (I believe) with them, you can get a boa back for gold. If your guild is a level 20 and you are honored (it may be revered for this one, not sure), you can buy a boa helmet for gold.

Also, on Saturdays, there's the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza thing. If you are lucky enough to win that competition (which means fishing up X number of this weeks special fishies and heading back to the quest giver first), you can get a boa ring which gives a 5% xp bonus.

Those are the only possible ways I know of to get heirloom gear.

Then I need JP because I don't PvP... thanks.

Our guild is almost level 16. and I am about to hit honored. Like 15% more to go... so I will have a look.

TY

Another dumb question: what does BOA mean? Bind on Armor?
Also: I love Vent. I like talking to the people I'm playing with otherwise its so lonely. Of course bec I am soloing right now I am not using it. Do some of you not like it bec maybe people on it are rude and don't stick to the task at hand?
I can see where that would get annoying.
