The 'Wonder'ful Mexican Riviera with a nut (allergy) Full report w/pics!

also why does the dinner menu show Smoothie of the Day - $3.95 ? Do you have to pay for anything non-alcoholic ?

Yes, specialty coffees and smoothies do cost extra. They require preparation and therefore DCL charges for them just like an alcoholic beverage.

Unbelievable a smoothie takes extra time and effort that anything else served :confused3

Smoothie is the next best thing after sliced bread to be invented by humans.

If you have your navigators handy, can you tell me, were there any matinees for the stage shows during at Sea Days? Thank You EGP

Yes, Dreams was at 2:00 on Cabo day 2, Toy Story was at 2:00 on a sea day and The Golden Mickeys was at 2:00 on a sea day.

Stinker
nice pix... about the pillow case.. did you give them a plain white pillow case? I see the princess embroided on them? Did DCL do the embroidery ?

I bought the pillowcases at http://www.janlynn.com/detail.cfm?ID=8443 DS's was Pirates of the Caribbean and DD's was princesses. These would make a great FE gift!

Nice Cabo pictures. Thank you for continuing to provide the wonderful food porn and menu pics! Cool FE, BTW.

Silly question: did you happen to notice if they had Krispy Kreme donuts at any of the restaurants?

Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't notice KK specifically, but they did have pastries all around the ship...maybe someone else can help answer this question.

I was reading your report and having tea in my FE MR travel mug, Great gift.
Thanks again!

You are very welcome:goodvibes We had a great FE group- all the gifts were amazing! We really did have a wonderful time and I am already counting the days until the next one!

Whatever camera you were using, your photos are great! Were those pics of the rock arches taken from the boat? Is it docked that close or do you have super magnification power (LOL) on your lens?

Thanks, the camera was my anniversary gift and I really have no idea how to use it yet:rolleyes: The boat was anchored between Los Arcos and the port area/beach, but I did use the camera's regular zoom lens for some of the pics.

Yes, I can. My teenagers had Krispy Kreme donuts several days. They said they even saw the Krispy Kreme box. I stuck with the oatmeal in view of all of the foods I ended up eating the rest of the day. For the oatmeal, they had several kinds of fruit and some yogurt to go with it and it was at a different food bar on the side after you got your drinks.

They had other pastries also that they tried along with the donuts. We are the ones who always ate late at Beach Blanket, they never got up early enough to make it to Tritons for breakfast. Beach Blanket always had enough bacon, eggs, and other hot breakfast items to keep them happy.

Now my 13 year old was even looking up cruises last night to try to "find me" a cruise we could take on the Disney Dream.

I'm loving this trip report! Very funny and informative!

Thanks for posting your experience- makes me more excited for our upcoming MR.

Stinkerbell, do you happen to have a pic of the room service breakfast menu? I saw the one with the items for the rest of the day and I know breakfast is just "continental", but I'd love to see the choices that you do have.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks! This will make my two girls very happy. Well... OK, it will make me happy, too.

Love your trip report! Thanks for sharing!!! I must say the Don Julio Resposado sideline story is the best. You should consider writing for a travel mag. We leave in a few short weeks! I think I will buy some tequila on board. :)

So, I'm sure this is posted somewhere but what about bringing alcohol on embarkation day? Is there a policy on bringing wine for dinner or liquor for the room?

You are allowed to bring your own alcohol, but it must be in a carry-on and not checked. You may also bring a bottle or glass of wine to dinner, although I believe they charge a corking fee for the bottle.

This morning was our scheduled character breakfast in Parrot Cay a.k.a Mickey’s Island Jam.
IMGP3059.jpg

GG had Mickey's surf(chocolate chip pancakes with fresh fruit) and BASS had Goofy's Spanish skillet(scrambled eggs, potatoes, peppers and bacon).
IMGP3102.jpg

I am a big fan of character dining, you get to sit down and enjoy your meal while the characters come to you! We were greeted by Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and the chipmunks.

The servers even made cute hats out of napkins for the kids

TIP: IMO this is one thing that you don’t want to miss, especially if you haven't seen the characters due to the lines onboard. Character meals at the parks cost at least $100.00 for a family of four and this one is included with the cruise.

After breakfast the kids asked to go back to the clubs (no argument from us!), so we granted their wish and then headed up to deck 9.

It was really too chilly to swim and the quiet cove was totally empty as a result.

IMGP3293.jpg

We decided to hit up one of our favorite spots- The Cove Cafe.

IMGP3298-1.jpg

Now, this will really upset some people (I saw a recent thread on the topic) but, there were quite a few kids wandering around the cove area all week. I personally saw 2 kids on separate occasions sitting at the Cove Cafe bar and there were several instances of kids in the cove pool and hot tub area. I would not bring my kids through here, but honestly as long as I’m not responsible for- or chasing after the children, they don’t bother me.

Divot and I enjoyed our coffee, played some board games and had an interesting conversation with some officers who stopped by...Leisure was the order for the day and although there were lots of activities going on around the ship, we chose to enjoy each other’s company and relax (something that’s very rare for us).

This is what happened to a child after climbing out of the pool-way too cold for swimming!
IMGP3306.jpg

We ran into Donald at the gazebo on deck 9 and he was gracious to pose for me.

IMGP3211.jpg

The kids decided that lunch should be from Pinnocchio's and Goofy’s- we carried it back to the room for them as it was still windy and chilly out on deck.
IMGP3225.jpg

We were really enjoying our quiet lunch routine, so after the kids finished eating, they happily went back to the club and we went to the seafood buffet at Parrot Cay.

Part 2 of Final Day at Sea coming up...

Stinker...again nice pix... what time do you get back to LA on day 7? I thought its 7 am in the morning.. you seem to have gotten enough time for a lot of things on day 7...

would you mind sharing with me how they move the clocks around for the different time zones. I'm just curious for booking excursions. Do they move the clocks forward for Cabo and PV? IF the ships arrives in PV at 7:30 according to our documents, is that local time or Disney time? Thanks so much! And I'm really enjoying reading your report. Gets me really excited. Just wishing the weather in Mexico this time of year could be a bit warmer...
