The Woman Report- Update 4/24 Final Thoughts p. 74

that is why I could never do contacts. Poking something in my eye and then having pain sometimes. No thanks.

Is that why there were no pictures??

The restaurant sounds nice. Cheerleaders do not.

uh-oh mean lifeguards, :scared1:

There weren't any pictures b/c Buzz didn't take any. :confused3 There will be some coming up though!

Kids with their PJ's holding the chart is cute. Love kids in PJ's.
Funny what LeeAndra said about the room.:rotfl2:
Ouch about the contacts. I might get lazer surgery one day. Still a little scary to me too.
LOVE the moment on vacation when you actually realize you are on vacation.:cloud9:
Wow, too bad about the Life Guards.popcorn::

I'm thinking about Laser surgery, but I'm a little too scared. :headache:

One of my kids' head was so big at around 6 months that the pediatrician measured both D & I. Apparently we have big heads, too. :sad2: :rotfl:

Yikes! Those big headed kids are sure cute though!

We had a Dr. ordered C-Section because they thought our DS was going to be way over 10lbs. they were very wrong. He just had a BIG head, which is the measurement they use to estimate weight on a sonogram.

I have a friend whose wife gave birth to 2 kids: Each of them 12 pounds some ounces. They did c-sections on both. :scared: And the kids are really big. The boy is 13 and he's over 6 ft tall. I don't know about the girl, but she's really tall for her age too.

Swimming Pool Mayhem Part one
This installment is the beginning of a series of incidents with the life guards. The first one wasn't too much of a big deal, but there is one coming up that got ole' Buzzilla The Hun totally riled up. That's never good. :scared1:

At home we belong to this golf club and they have a pool where we swim. It’s pretty fun-has a slide and stuff. But the life guards they hired last year were crabby and not very nice. The members really griped about them. Apparently Disney’s Grand Californian hired life guards from the same hiring pool (pun intended). :confused3 I’ll talk more about them later because we did have some more serious run ins later on with them. The first day wasn’t too bad.

The pool was pretty busy. We picked out a place to sit down and I saw the life jackets on a shelf. Apparently you just help yourself, unlike OKW where you have to show your room card and all that. Trey does not need one, but he likes them so I help him pick the right size. LeeAndra needs one, but doesn’t like to wear them. I force one on her and tell the kids to go down the slide. There's a life guard at the top. We’re watching them and they get to the top and all of a sudden they turn around and come back down to us. :confused3

“What’s wrong?” I ask. LeeAndra says they can’t go down with life jackets on. Buzz thinks it’s a California rule because they do it all the time in Florida. So I tell them to go back up and take their life jackets off. They got to the top and I could see the life guard talking to them. Pretty soon, they turned around again and came back down to us. LeeAndra told me that the life guard doesn't think they can swim since they had life jackets on and he won't let them go down the slide.

I go back up with them and the life guard asks me if they can swim. He said he saw the life jackets and wondered. I assure him they can (even though LeeAndra isn’t really good at it). It’s not very deep at the bottom. She’ll be ok. He finally lets them go down the slide. LA goes sailing down, dog paddles to the edge and gets out. I considered telling him about Trey’s disability, but in the end, I didn’t. :headache: This guy wasn't mean-but the kids were pretty shook up about being told they couldn't go down the slide.

Trey seemed a little nervous, but he's been on tons of water slides so I tell him to go down and he does. Only half way down he stopped and started screaming!! Oh my gosh-it was embarrassing!! I hurried to the bottom, jumped in to the water and yelled for him that I’d catch him. So he finally came down, screaming all the way. As soon as he got to the bottom he grabbed onto me for dear life. I tried to show him that he could touch the bottom but when I tried to untangle myself from him, he panicked and would scream. He was way taller than the water level, but I couldn't get him to see that-he was just too scared.

I spent about 10 minutes trying to get him to see he could touch the bottom in that part of the pool when the life guard told me we couldn’t swim in that area. Fine. I wasn’t really swimming. I was trying to show Trey he could touch so he could go down the slide. I considered telling her about his special needs, but she didn’t look like she’d care or make an exception for us. She was giving us the evil eye. Now this one was a little mean and later on, she was too.

I get Trey out and tell him no more slide unless he goes down without his jacket. He doesn’t want any part of that so he decides to go down the kiddie slide. Only problem is he sits at the top while other kids are waiting. For a long time. When the other kids tell him to go down the slide, he doesn’t hear them. So he continues to sit until he’s good and ready to slide down. I make him get off that one and tell him he just can’t slide. :headache: Poor kid.

Pretty soon, LeeAndra gets bored of the slide and we play Shark. That was fun and soon, I have her shrieking and laughing when I grab her in the water. We do this for about 45 mins and then I get out. And it’s freezing out of the water!! I wrap up in some towels, try to chat with Buzz, but he’s sleeping. So I watch the kids play while my eye keeps killing me. I definitely think I need that new set of contacts.

We head back up to the room before long and on the way we passed our restaurant where we’d be eating later that night. Storyteller’s Café. It looked good. And smelled even better.

We went back upstairs and I unpacked while Buzz napped. When I finished unpacking, I laid down too, not intending to sleep. Pretty soon, I woke up and it was time get ready for dinner. Our first night’s dinner!!

Next up:
My eye gets relief!!

when was the ninja nesting????? :confused3

Stinky lifeguards.....stink.

More when I have somehting interestng to say.

Poor kids. :headache: Sounds like they were confused, because it was confusing,
and they probably didnt know what to do. Do you think thats what through Trey off? The lifegaurd killing his MoJo?

OMG those lifeguards sound mean and nasty, I know they've got a job to do but really

That's too bad about the kids and the life guards! They don't let kids go off the diving board with life jackets at the YMCA here in NH, but I've never seen a place that won't let kids go down a water slide with one. In fact, when we went to the water slides at Attitash Mountain (NH) last summer they made DS7 wear one because he was below a certain height - even though he can swim really well. :confused3

That's too bad about those life guards. The life jacket thing makes sense tho. Not all slides are safe for life jackets. The YC big slide back in 2003 did not allow any type of floatation device on the way down. And if you couldn't swim, you couldn't go down it. You couldn't even wait at the bottom for your kid. I guess they rehab'd the slide and they allow floaties on that slide now. So, maybe the GC's slide isn't rehab'd yet.

But I would have been embarrassed to by Trey, or should I say one of my kids if it happened, on the slides even while feeling sorry for him, poor kid. Poor you. But not poor sleeping Buzz!

Glad you got some rest before dinner. Looking forward to dinner and maybe some pictures? :flower3:

Poor Trey. :sad2:
Big meanie, icky lifeguard! I guess, CA is carefull about lawsuits.

No wonder they were confused! :headache:

If that's their iron-clad policy, then why on earth wasn't that information posted????

I go back up with them and the life guard asks me if they can swim. He said he saw the life jackets and wondered. I assure him they can (even though LeeAndra isn’t really good at it). Poor dude! That lifeguard threw his mindset off, I'll bet :sad1:

I spent about 10 minutes trying to get him to see he could touch the bottom in that part of the pool when the life guard told me we couldn’t swim in that area. Fine. I wasn’t really swimming. I was trying to show Trey he could touch so he could go down the slide. I considered telling her about his special needs, but she didn’t look like she’d care or make an exception for us. She was giving us the evil eye. Now this one was a little mean and later on, she was too.

Honestly, what is their problem?! I hope you reported her sorry excuse for a Disney employee's butt!

Aww, yep, sounds like that horrible treatment by the lifeguard messed him up some :headache:

Pretty soon, LeeAndra gets bored of the slide and we play Shark. That was fun and soon, I have her shrieking and laughing when I grab her in the water. We do this for about 45 mins and then I get out. And it’s freezing out of the water!! I wrap up in some towels, try to chat with Buzz, but he’s sleeping. OK, Shark is going under the water and grabbing their feet or something, right? :rotfl: He's sleeping AGAIN during all this?! :confused3

We head back up to the room before long and on the way we passed our restaurant where we’d be eating later that night. Storyteller’s Café. It looked good. And smelled even better.

I hope you had a wonderful dinner that night to make up for the crappy pool time!

We went back upstairs and I unpacked while Buzz napped. When I finished unpacking, I laid down too, not intending to sleep. Pretty soon, I woke up and it was time get ready for dinner. Our first night’s dinner!!

Geez, again he's sleeping

Next up:
My eye gets relief!!

Thank goodness! I feel your eyeball pain (I tried wearing contacts for ages, all of the brands hurt my eyes, darnit )

Looking forward to your next installment popcorn::

Boo for the lifeguard.
The next incident is worse?:scared1:
Hope your eye did get better.

I feel sorry for Trey. I feel sorry for you too for having him scream like that. Nice to see Buzz was there to help. :rotfl2:

WAKE UP BUZZ!!!!!

:rotfl2: :lmao:

Aww, poor kids, that must have been really confusing for them. The lifeguards can still do their jobs without being so mean.

Ya know Linnie, I'm sorry. I said poor Trey. But I forgot you. That must have been really stressful for you. :grouphug:

when was the ninja nesting????? :confused3 Stinky lifeguards.....stink.
That occurred after we got home. At the hotel, I just tried to organize us. Tried, that is.

Poor kids. :headache: Sounds like they were confused, because it was confusing,
and they probably didnt know what to do. Do you think thats what through Trey off? The lifegaurd killing his MoJo?

It could have. If anyone "corrects" him, it kills his enthusiasm. It's hard to explain. We were at a birthday party once and the kids were supposed to go take their gifts to the birthday boy. I told Trey to go do it, but another kid snatched it out of his hands and told him he wasn't supposed to. After that, Trey didn't participate-he just stood and looked out the window. I think it hurt his feelings.

OMG those lifeguards sound mean and nasty, I know they've got a job to do but really

It gets worse....

I never have seen one either. Kind of killed Trey's fun.

Glad you got some rest before dinner. Looking forward to dinner and maybe some pictures? :flower3:

Pictures are coming tomorrow!

Poor Trey. :sad2:
Big meanie, icky lifeguard! I guess, CA is carefull about lawsuits.
There was another one that was worse. Made LeeAndra cry.

If that's their iron-clad policy, then why on earth wasn't that information posted????
I didn't see it posted. I guess it could've been.

The pool experience wasn't good. :headache: Until the last day.

I didn't. I probably should -they get worse.
Lisa said:

Well, my version of Shark doesn't involve going under. I don't care much for that! :rotfl: I stayed above the water and grabbed their legs under the water.

Buzz slept a lot on this trip. :sad2:

Poor Trey.
I know! I felt bad for him! Except when he was shrieking. Then all I could think of was to get him off that slide ASAP!!

Boo for the lifeguard.
The next incident is worse?
Hope your eye did get better.

yep! and Yes it did! Finally! There was a problem with my eye...;)

I feel sorry for Trey. I feel sorry for you too for having him scream like that. Nice to see Buzz was there to help. :rotfl2:

WAKE UP BUZZ!!!!!

it's typical of him. The worst part was having to run while wearing my bathing suit. Good grief. I could really hurt something doing that....:rolleyes1

Aww, poor kids, that must have been really confusing for them. The lifeguards can still do their jobs without being so mean.

I think it was. They weren't even nice at all. Buzz let 'em have it later. It was Buzz v. The Lifeguards. Not gud.

Ya know Linnie, I'm sorry. I said poor Trey. But I forgot you. That must have been really stressful for you. :grouphug:

It was! Thank you!! :guilty: Later, I passed the stress on to Buzz.

Ditto to that  I can certainly relate and empathasize about being embarrassed by behaviour :sad2:

I can't believe how LOUD that child can shriek like that. It sounded really bad and everyone at the pool was staring. I like to be low profile so it jangled my nerves. But I got right back up on the horse so to speak and we swam anyway. Even though I wanted to pack up and leave!

The thing about Trey is he looks like a typical child until you talk to him or watch him for awhile. Then you can tell something is going on. So when people (like life guards) tell him something he appears not to listen to them. At our golf club, I make sure I talk to the life guards ahead of time and explain it to them. But we go there all summer. I figured these life guards wouldn't even be back the next day. I've never seen the same life guards at WDW two days in a row. Probably b/c there's so many resorts. Never even thought of that...

Trey has a hard time "hearing" other people's voices. He's very tuned into us, but with new people-he doesn't realize they're talking to him. I didn't explain this to the life guards and in hindsight I probably should have, but this was the only trouble he had. The rest all has to do with LeeAndra.
