Flying verses driving to port

We have driven from NC a few times, usually for a combo WDW/Cruise. Port Canaveral from NC is possible (630 miles for us), although we still prefer to fly in the night before and use Disney transfer from MCO. Since we had every warning light on our car go off the time we drove directly to PC from NC (turned out to be nothing, but couldn't fully assess that until after a week long Fantasy cruise!) we're a little apprehensive about driving again. Flying for NYE on the Fantasy this year.

We tried driving back from Ft. Lauderdale last year when we did a WDW-Magic cruise in June-July. NC to Orlando was fine. Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale is no problem. Ft. Lauderdale back to NC was awful. Amazing how much that extra couple of hours adds to the driving grind. Found reasonable direct flights for the Destiny next year so we're flying.

Squeezing in a cruise around the school schedule is also getting tighter as our DD ages, which makes driving from NC less feasible.

We'll drive to FLL for our cruise in Mar 2026. But we will break it up. We drive from NC to FLL. The first day the goal is to get about 4hr or less away from the port. We are typically looking at a total of 12hrs due to back roads
