Crabby Trey & A Good Book
I wake up from my nap, which I didn't intend to take, get myself somewhat cleaned up and we head down to Storyteller’s Café. It smelled so amazingly good. Trey was crabbing a little-he always does the first day or so. We were immediately led to our table where we ordered a bottle of wine and waters. Things have to move at a steady pace for Trey or he gets cranky. He was already in a bad mood so we figured we needed to get this meal going asap.
It’s at these times that everything seems to move much slower than usual, although it’s probably just because we have a cranky kid along with us. We get our drinks and that helps him. He’s drinking out of everyone’s water, but I don’t care. It makes him happy and more importantly, quiet. We order our food and wait.
Our food is taking a little long and he starts getting owly. We threaten him with all kinds of punishment, but nothing works. I take LeeAndra to the bathroom and when we get back our food is there. Whew! We dig in, down the wine and we’re outta there! It was very rushed, which was ok, but I wished we would've scheduled that dinner for a little later in the trip because I think Trey would've been happier.
Trey ordered the personal sized pizza, which probably said it on the menu, but we didn't notice -it was make it yourself. They brought out the crust and he put the sauce, cheese and pepperoni's on it. I was a little nervous-I wasn't sure he would like this, but he did ok with it. He ate some of the pepperoni's, which was cute and the rest he put on. The guy came back immediately and told
Trey he was going to cook it now, which Trey liked. LA loved the Mickey Head plate (so did I).
I always order steak when we go out. Buzz eats out a lot so he gets tired of it, but I rarely eat out so that's my meal of choice. Tonight was no exception. I can't remember what Buzz and LA ordered. I was much more focused on Trey and getting him through the dinner. Pictures will follow later (I have a dentist appointment and don't have time right now) The food was excellent.
Trey just doesn't do well the first day/night of vacation. But this was such a short trip, we didn't have the time for much schedule changing. No worries-plenty of good times to come!
We go back to the room and Buzz announces he’s going to go to the bar and see if he can bring me a glass of wine. I love that man!!
LeeAndra decides to go with him.
I take that moment to take my contacts out. Once that is out of my eye, I rub it like crazy until I see the sparks. Ahhhh. That felt so good to get that out of there. Probably shouldn’t have slept with it in my eye earlier in the day but too late.
Pretty soon there’s a knock at the door and Buzz is back with a whole
bottle of wine!! We spend the night watching t.v. and chatting until we all fell asleep around 9. Buzz with Trey. LeeAndra with me.
I’d like to take this moment to tell you all about a book I bought for this trip. On the plane, it’s easiest to read magazines because the kids are bugging me constantly (and I mean that in a nice way) to get things out of their backpacks for them.
I'd rather be the one to unbuckle and dig through backpacks than let them. And it’s easier on my psyche to put down a magazine than have to stop reading a book. So I buy a lot of ones like People, Us, Ok, Star etc. It’s my indulgence twice a year. Other than that, I never read magazines unless I’m at a doctor’s or my mom gives me some she’s read.
I was at
Walmart getting my magazines before we left and I saw the book,
Loving Natalee by Beth Holloway Twitty. Natalee Holloway was the girl who went to Aruba on her high school senior trip and never returned. I thought it looked interesting. I don’t read much on vacations, but I do like to have something to read before I go to bed, so I bought it.
I started this book that night and have to say, I’d highly recommend it. It’s nicely written, easy to read and very touching-hard to put down. It does make a person angry while they’re reading it for Beth, who never got justice for her daughter. I can only imagine how frustrated and shattered she must be with seeking justice for Natalee. Excellent book!! Again, hard to put down! So I was the last one up that night but I didn't stay up too late.
Next up: Our first day in the park!! California Adventure!
