Anyone else concerned about all the flight cancellations?

I'm starting to wonder if it's foolish thinking I can fly into SNA next Saturday and then get a flight out again on Tuesday the 18th. I REALLY don't want to cancel this trip! But It's so tricky not knowing what will happen with flights. They could have long delays or even be canceled. From what I've read things will only get worse as the week goes on. As much as I love Disneyland I don't want to get stuck there lol.

Has anyone had issues flying in and out of SNA or other Southern California airports?

Do you think there's any chance the resort hotels will have a more flexible cancellation policy during a time like this, or stick to their 4 day window? I have to cancel by Tuesday in order not to pay my first night, but honestly I'm considering just doing that if I have to in order to buy myself a few more days before I have to cancel the whole trip.

we don’t fly until the 20th but I’m concerned, or actually more so…aware and paying attention.

We are flying out of a very small airport (ACV), into LAX.
My husband thought he read somewhere that they will let us know 1 day prior?
If our flight is cancelled we will likely hop in the car that day and drive the 11-12 hrs in 2 parts

As far as I have seen only major airports are effected so your departing airport may be the issue not SNA.
Although SNA is not among the airports targeted by the FAA for flight reductions, airlines have made it clear that they are prioritizing international flights and flights going through their major hubs. Hence flights to smaller airports such as SNA could be jeopardized. And of course, changed to planned flights cause a domino effect when a plane doesn't end up where it was originally supposed to be.

I just looked at FlightRadar24 and saw several cancelled arrivals for SNA in the next little while.

Bottom line: all bets are off except for the prioritized flights.

These seem to be originating from major airports. That could be some of it. What I was saying is flying from a small airport like Sanford instead of Orlando to Santa Ana may not result in cancellations. I could be wrong though.

Yes, the ripple effect is what I think could cause the most issues. My home airport is on the list, too. They had 18 cancellations today and a number of delays. If I have delays before I leave home that isn't as big of an issue, but if I'm delayed or cancelled in CA I'd have to scramble for a hotel, shuttle, new flight etc.

I wish they could tell us a few days ahead of time if they are cancelling or not, but it seems like people are hearing same-day about if their flights are affected.

I’m concerned too, flying Sunday from the East Coast, so not able to drive. My worry is making it then being stuck on the return home. Both ways I connect through an airport on the list. My route today went as scheduled, but the airlines are not yet at the 10% reduction. I believe the airlines are giving notice for the most part, which helps…just really hoping to make it! And then try to put it out of mind and enjoy the Parks during the trip. Hope it all works out for your trip!

I've been considering the alternative of driving down, but then it means I'd also have to drive back! That takes nearly a whole day each way. I think I'd more likely cancel the trip altogether :guilty:
Me, too. Ugh! I want us all to be able to go. Still hoping we can.

Kind of. It involves a bus and getting into the station at 2 am
Driving is about 8 hours each way, which means adding extra days to the trip. And that's under ideal conditions. And driving straight through.

Same. We were considering a last minute trip in December but are holding off booking to see if they resolve the shutdown (which I just read they have hopefully resolved it today). It would be a super short trip and we don’t want to risk being cancelled or delayed.

My home airport in PA isn't on the list but my connecting airport is. As of 7 hours ago there were 26 cancelled flights (13 inbound and 13 outbound) at my home airport today, about 6% of all flights. Update - now up to 36 cancellations or 8%.

Flying into Santa Ana on Wednesday. I'm hoping the odds are with me since I start with an early morning flight. Lots of later flights if mine is cancelled.

Edited to add link to see cancelled flights - you can filter by airport:
