The WL/DCL/BCV Extravaganza! Trip Report - UPDATE 1/29 NOT FINISHING THIS

I've been good!! Time has been flying by. I can't believe Thanksgiving is in about 2 weeks!! Are you a Twilight fan too? I'm by no means one of those obsessed people, but I do like to watch the movies and I'm excited for the one that's coming out!! So I've got that to look forward to.

And I think I changed my 2011 cruise plans to a 4 day Caribbean instead of the 7 day just because I REALLY want to go on the new ship! :rotfl: Virtual portholes and a water coaster? Yes, please!!

How have you been? Don't you just hate when you're busy at work? I mean, what are people thinking?!

If you do a 4 night, book it for Sept or Oct 2011. That's when Joe and I are planning to go!!! It would be so awesome if we could all meet up. :)

Thanksgiving is so close, it's crazy!! Then Christmas! :scared1: I don't even want to think about that yet.

Yup, I'm a Twilight fan. I read all the books but I'm not obsessed. I just thought they were ok and am going to see the movies because I read the books. That and Taylor Lautner aka Jacob is a total cutie. I shouldn't say that because he's like 17 lol but he is! I'm Team Jacob all the way. I can't really stand Bella or Edward. :rotfl:

I've been ok. I have a few things to do at work today but I'm putting them off lol. I should get on it because knowing my luck, we'll be busy since there is only two of us here and I won't get around to doing anything!

I have all the cruise pictures uploaded so hopefully I can update today!

Before I start this TR post, I just want to put in that we purchased our airfare for our Feb trip! We got a good deal, around $180 round trip out of Atlantic City. Our inbound flight departs at 11:08 am and gets in at 1:30. The first day will probably be non-park and we'll go to DTD since we didn't get to do it this past trip. Our flight coming home is a late one so we'll have a decent last day and park hop a bit. It departs at 9:25 pm and gets in at 11:42. I was on the phone with Disney this morning and set up Magical Express and also requested a Toy Story building for our room. :)

On with the TR! I last left you with the end of our Epcot Day and first portion of our trip. It was time to set sail! FINALLY! :yay:

We had a breakfast ADR at WCC this day but I still wasn't feeling that great so we decided to skip it. We used our remaining TS credits to order room service so Joe wouldn't be starving. He was nice enough to share some of his breakfast with me. I think he had waffles with strawberries on top. Yummy.

After I showered and started getting ready to go down to the lobby to catch our bus, I felt much better. We had to be in the lobby at 11:15 and our bus was to be there at 11:45. Our DCL rep met us in the lobby right on time and there was another couple waiting as well. We filled out some paperwork (you have to sign a doc swearing up and down you don't have symptoms of swine flu) and I went outside to get some fresh air. Outside I saw Ranger Stan! I had a nice little chat with him, what a nice man! He kept asking if I knew people from the DIS but there are so many of us, I don't know everybody! :rotfl: Our bus was just about ready to leave at that point so I said goodbye to Ranger Stan and went inside to help Joe with the luggage. Soon we were on the bus, with a pitstop to POR, and then we were on our way!

DSCN0861.jpg

They show you a cute video just like on the ME bus except this one is longer since the drive is about twice the distance. It was all about DCL and the ships. About an hour later, we saw this!

DSCN0868.jpg

DSCN0869.jpg

DSCN0870.jpg

The bus also plays Disney tunes and IASW kept coming on. Joe made up his own version. Can't wait to show you all the video of that but I don't have it uploaded yet. Video post at the end of the TR, promise!

Check-in was relatively quick and painless. Until we got to this.

DSCN0873.jpg

We stared at this for over an hour. Just as we got in line to board, they stopped the boarding process. Apparently it was some kind of security breech. But they never made an announcement, they just let us stand there. People were NOT happy, myself being one of them. So far, I was not impressed with DCL. I was also annoyed because we were supposed to have a DIS meet onboard, everyone else was already on, and we were going to miss it! Grrrrr....

I wandered off for a bit to snap a couple pictures.

DSCN0874.jpg

DSCN0875.jpg

Finally, the doors opened and we were able to board! Yay! They took our picture before we boarded in the next room but at that point, I just wanted to get on the ship! They announced us and soon we were walking into the lobby of the Wonder! WOOHOO!! Since it was already past 1:30, we went to check out our stateroom and drop the stuff off that we were carrying. I'll have pictures of the room in a later post. We then headed upstairs to get some lunch at Beach Blanket Buffet. YUM! I forget what I had but it was quite a variety!

On the way back from lunch, we ran into fellow DISers and tablemates Karen, Gary, Lainey, and Greg on deck 9! We sat down for a bit and chatted until it was time for the lifeboat drill. Boy, was it HOT! We couldn't wait for it to be done with and it took longer than usual compared to other cruise lines we've been on. We looked awesome in our life vests.

DSCN0877.jpg

I also snapped this while we were waiting for more people to join our lifeboat group.

DSCN0876.jpg

The cruise port is GORGEOUS especially when you compare it to the NYC one. *shudder*

We dropped off our lifevests in a hurry and made our way back up to deck 9 & 10 for the Sailaway Party. I was beyond excited at this point and all past anxiety and annoyance was gone. We were ready to set sail!!!

Coming up:
Sailaway Party
Dinner at Animator's Palate

Woohoo! You are on the ship! I am dying to hear what you think. I have gotten mixed reviews of the DCL. We are in the process of planning a vacation on the new Dream! So, I am kind of all about DCL right now :cool1:

I love your DH's pirate bandanna. So cute! When are you planning on updating again? No pressure!! popcorn::

YAY! You're on the Wonder! :goodvibes I can't wait to hear all about it! I'm glad your frustration was off by the time you got all settled in. I would have been frustrated too. We're looking at going on a cruise in a year and a half, and I'm trying to figure out who we want to sail with... Can't wait to read more!! :thumbsup2

i think i've still got all the text messages on my phone:
whats taking so long
still here
been over an hour
what the hell is going on......

:rotfl:
glad you got on in the end though :)

I can't wait to be able to sail on the Dream! It looks amazing. When are you going?? We were looking at late 2011.

I'm updating very soon!!!

I was beyond frustrated lol. I think I may have jinxed myself because we had planned DCL trips before but they always fell through. When we were on the bus on the way there I was like 'Watch, we won't be able to get on the ship or something.' Almost! :scared1:

I've sailed with DCL, RCCL, and NCL. All are great! NCL gets kind of a bad rep sometimes but honestly, you do everything on your own time. There is no set dining times or people to sit with. Some people love it and some hate it. We loved it! I can't wait to sail on Norwegian Epic because of the Blue Man Group!!! They're amazing.

I was texting you guys non stop lol. I was so annoyed!!!

When I last left you, we were heading to the Sailaway Party. There were a LOT of people already up there so we made our way up to Deck 10, toward the right side of the stage. Don't ask me if it was starboard or portside because I couldn't tell ya lol. The show was really cute. Lots of high energy songs with the CMs at first...

DSCN0878.jpg

And then the stars of the show arrived!

DSCN0880.jpg

DSCN0881.jpg

DSCN0884.jpg

We all counted down until we heard that wonderful horn, When You Wish Upon a Star! We were finally ready to set sail! We'd been waiting for this for over and year and there we were, ready to go!! :yay:

Just as a side note, what's really cute is that they continue with the 'When You Wish Upon a Star' theme. Not only does the horn make that sound but whenever the cruise director or any staff has to make an announcement, it is preceded by the notes to 'When You Wish Upon a Star.' Love it!

The party continued for a bit and some dads were pulled up onstage to be magically transformed into...The Village People! Can you guess what song they did?

DSCN0885.jpg

DSCN0886.jpg

Then we realized we were moving! We ran to the side of the ship and saw these fabulous people waving us off!

DSCN0887.jpg

DSCN0888.jpg

Adorable! They all have a little routine they do in unison and they blew us kisses. Such a nice touch! Very Disney. ;)

After the party, we made our way back to our room to get ready for the show and dinner.

Here's a quick shot of our cabin door. I was clueless when it came to making magnets and I have an ancient printer anyway so my DIS cruisemates were nice enough to make us some!

Oh I'll have to look into it! I think I'm going to ask people on my tr...4night on the DREAM or originally planned 7night on the Magic? Decisions, decisions!! :confused3

It is scary how late in the year it has gotten...oh man!!

I'm the same way with you on Twilight. I didn't mind Edward but Bella was so annoying. I think they will be nice to watch all the movies and see what they do with them. I'm the same way with Harry Potter. Yes, I'm a fan but I'm not going to get their at midnight or dress up or do anything crazy like that. I just like it, without any obsession!!

You know, I always approve when you Dis instead of work!! :rotfl:

Sounds like you had quite the time getting on the ship. I would've been so annoyed too!! I'm glad you were all happy again at the Sail Away party! I hear that is the one thing that blows every other line out of the water! Everything else can be debateable, but the sail away party is Disney's hand-down!! I can't wait to experience it for myself!! Can't wait to read more about it!! I'm so excited!!

4 night DREAM! Brand new ship, can't beat it!

I actually did go see the new HP movie at midnight. :rotfl: I'm really into Harry Potter. I don't dress up or anything but I am always super excited when one of those movies comes out. I was disappointed with HBP though. I felt they could have done more with it.

As for Twilight, I am TEAM JACOB all the way. If Bella doesn't want him, I'll take him! ;) Our RCCL rep actually calls me Bella. He says I remind him of her. Okey doke...:confused3

The Sailaway Party was a lot of fun! Definitely a great way to kick off a cruise!

I didn't think I'd have time to do another update today but it's incredibly slow so away we go!

I left off with us going to our room to get ready for dinner. We had the later dinner rotation, so the show was always first. Tonight it was the Golden Mickeys! When you walk toward the theatre, it's set up like papa-paparazzi (I heart Lady Gaga) and they pretend to snap your picture as you're walking by. We got a lot of 'Oh what a cute/gorgeous/beautiful couple!' as we made our way toward the theatre. Who wouldn't love that? ;)

We got seats right in the middle, about halfway back. Self pic!

DSCN0890.jpg

I didn't take any pictures of the show because I like to enjoy watching things rather than watching through a camera lens. It was really cute with musical numbers from a lot of Disney's animated films. The Cruella Deville number was GREAT! At the end, Mickey himself makes an appearance of course!

The detail and energy they put into these shows are amazing. They are head and shoulders above any other cruise line in that category! We enjoyed every single one of them but more about the other two later!

After the show, we walked around for a bit on one of the decks and then stopped back in the room so I could tame my hair. The wind was whipping it around! We then headed to dinner.

We were really excited to eat at Animator's Palate and happy that we got to do this on our first night. It was really neat but that being said, I think I was expecting more. A few pictures at a time faded in and out of color over the course of the meal with everything eventually turning to color at the end of the meal. I was expecting to be blown away by it but I wasn't. It was neat, like I said. Different but nothing extraordinary. The food was wonderful though. :thumbsup2

Some pictures I took from our table.

The best part of our meal this night was this little kid that was running around. He was dressed in black and white so he blended in perfectly. I forget his name, maybe one of my DIS cruisemates will remind me, but it was hysterical to watch. We felt bad that we were laughing about it but he wanted to get away from his mom and he scooted right between our table and the wall and off he went! She spent a good 20 minutes walking around with this angry expression on her face as he kept running around the restaurant, blending into the background. Craziness! Eventually she just waited by the entrance and nabbed him on another lap around.

I guess someone in our party mentioned past and upcoming birthdays as well as celebrating an anniversary and honeymoon and we all got cakes! On top of the dessert we had ordered. Man, were we stuffed! Most of the cake stayed in our fridge for the entire trip :rotfl: but it was nice to have it.

DSCN0906.jpg

DSCN0908.jpg

After dinner we all parted ways and Joe and I stopped by Wavebands for a drink. They were having a 70s party and we watched a Gloria Gaynor contest. The woman who won did a really awesome job working that boa!! :rotfl: We walked around the ship for a bit where I managed to snap a pic of this pretty princess in front of Triton's.

DSCN0909.jpg

It had been a long day so after exploring the Wonder for a bit longer, we headed back to our stateroom to go to sleep. Tomorrow was another busy day!

Coming up:
Nassau
Atlantis
Toy Story: The Musical
Parrot Cay
Pirates IN the Caribbean Party

Oh wow! What great updates! I love that it's so family-focused! I'm sure kids (and grown ups ;) ) LOVE it! The shows/dinner sound great! And that is SO hilarious about the little boy! :rotfl: Too bad she finally caught him!

Awww man you are making me really want to go on a cruise now. The sail away party sounds like a blast.

ironic thing was that the kid was called Chase!!! :rotfl:

Yes, you are right!! Do you have dates yet or are you just still thinking fall? I was also maybe thinking May. There is a 5day one then!

Oh how funny that you were there at midnight!! I very rarely go to movies at midnight!! I think the last one I saw at midnight was "The Dark Knight" and thats only because my friends were going then!! Are you disappointed with differences between the books and the movies or what? The most recent movie thats out (6th?) was actually the last book I read and I never even finished that book, so it worked out. Maybe I will have to go back and read the books again just for good measure!

You know, I really like Edward and Jacob. I would take either, but I'd much rather cuddle with Jacob! Really, all of them annoy me at some point, but then again, even the people I love in real life do sometimes too! :rotfl: Thats funny that you're RCCL rep says you remind him of Bella. Don't you not even like her? I don't remember if you do or not. We'll just go with don't because thats what I think I remember. If it makes you feel any better, the movie character multiple people have said I remind them of is Dory from Finding Nemo! :lmao: Which is odd because I have a really good memory!! But I am sort of a spaz. :yay: :rotfl:

I can't wait for "paparazzi night". I would love that!! Sounds fun!! I bet you just ate up everyone saying how cute you guys were!

Okay...I am remembering your review of Animator's Palate. (Oh and PS I JUST got the name a clever eating reference to go along with the painting aspects too :rotfl2:). I was expecting something truly extraordinary! I am going to just think of it being "neat" because I don't want to be let down by my crazy high expectations. So that helps!!

The shows were FANTASTIC! I can't say enough good things about them. It is family focused but there are a lot of fun things for grown ups too :) There is an adults only pool and the bars in the Route 66 area are 18 and up. Even Castaway cay has an adults only beach!

Awww man you are making me really want to go on a cruise now. The sail away party sounds like a blast.

The sailaway party was a great way to kick off the cruise! Really puts you in the mood to celebrate!

YES! I couldn't think of it! :lmao: Thanks, Karen!

No, we don't have exact dates set yet. We're thinking of the fall because we loved going around that time this year, with the Food and Wine Festival. Plus my birthday is in early Oct and I've never gotten to celebrate my birthday there and Joe has been during his bday (Jan) twice! It's my turn! LOL. We'll probably wait until they have the land & sea packages available because we were talking about going all out since we'll have so much time to save!

I just felt they could have done better with HBP. They cut a lot of cool parts out of the book and Dumbledore's death scene was just..ok, I guess. It wasn't as good as it could have been. I don't like that they had Harry just standing underneath, not doing a thing about it. In the book, he tries to fight back but Dumbledore casts a spell on him so he can't move and puts the invisibility cloak over him. They just made Harry look like a wimp in HBP. I hope the last two movies are better because the 7th book is awesome.

No, I don't like Bella. She has a serious 'I'm not good enough' complex. I guess he thinks I look like her? I don't know, I don't see it! :confused3 I guess I sound a little bit like her. Whatev, our RCCL is creepy anyway. :rotfl:

LOL @ Dory!! Do you tell everyone to 'just keep swimming!' She's one of my favorite Pixar characters ever though...I think she's tied for first place with Dug! :rotfl2: 'I have just met you and I love you!'

I guess I was just expecting more out of AP. It was nice when everything was in color but I expected to be blown away by it and I totally wasn't! Oh well. Maybe they enhanced it on the Dream's version.

Oh you guys totally have to go for your birthday then! That'd be so awesome!! I don't think I'll ever go during my birthday. It's during spring break and/or Easter and so its probably super busy, so I'd much rather go during an off time!! It'll be so nice to go all out though!! That's really the only way to do it, I think!

Yeah, Harry definitely did look like a wimp during that scene. I remember thinking "why isn't he doing anything?!" but also thinking he was just scared! (I would've been!) But he's in Gryffindor (sp?!)!! Doesn't that mean he's supposed to be courageous? You would've thought he was in Hufflepuff or something! :rotfl2: I think I may go read all the books again. I think you just convinced me. Or at least like 5 through 7. (I've read 1-4 many times and remember them pretty well!) What I like about HP is that I can read them over and over again! I read all the Twilight series and was so enthralled the first time through, but then I tried to read them again and I just couldn't do it.

I agree about Bella. I just think she was boring. I really think Edward just liked her initially because he couldn't read her thoughts and that was different for him and more challenging. But I bet if he could read her thoughts, he wouldn't be with her!! :lmao: Hmm I don't really think you look like her either!! But I don't know. Its okay...creepy people's opinions aren't really important!!

I don't tell people to just keep swimming! Maybe I should start. I think its because I just go from thought to thought so quickly and am so easily distracted. Oh and I love Dug too!! He is great!!

I hope AP is enhanced on the Dream! I just can't wait for everything on there!

I'd love to be there for my birthday! MNSSHP, Food and Wine, and a Disney Cruise?? Perfect! I think we're going to price out how much it would be to stay in a deluxe. Last year they ran a travel agent offer around that time and I was able to get into WL for a pretty good deal. I would be very tempted to stay there again but I want to try out different resorts. I think I'd go for AKL or maybe even the Poly. I'd love to be so close to MK again. It all depends on the price!

I was re-reading the HP series until I got my new laptop. Then all was forgotten. :rotfl: I read 6 before the movie came out to refresh my memory and then the 7th since I had read that. Then I decided 'WTH, I'll just read the others over again too' I made it through the first 3 and started the 4th and then my shiny new laptop arrived. :lmao: It's been untouched since.

I wasn't enthralled by the Twilight series at all. Except New Moon, I flew through that mainly because it was all about JACOB. I had to practically force my way through Breaking Dawn. It was like I was reading it but not taking anything in because Bella is just not interesting to me. I couldn't wait to get to Jacob's section! Can you tell I'm a total Jacob fan? :rotfl:

I think MNSSHP, F&W, plus a cruise is perfect for you!! Top it off with a Poly stay and you'd be set!! I hope they have another deal going for you!! That'd just be so perfect!!

That's so funny about your new laptop taking away from your HP reading time!! I think I always get distracted about halfway through the series too! That's probably why I know books 1 through 4 the best!! :rotfl:

Bella is really uninteresting!! I'm telling you, she's boring!! If Edward could read her mind, he'd leave her when she found out how boring she was!! You and Jacob  That's so funny! I like him too!! I bet you'll be the girl screaming in the theater when they show him with his shirt off :rotfl2:

I checked prices for 2010 to get a comparison for 2011. The Contemporary was less expensive then the Poly, BLT was cheaper than the Contemporary itself so that may be a possibility. I'm hoping there will be free dining or maybe even a Travel Agent Appreciation Offer again so I can take advantage of that!

Um, yes I probably will be. :rotfl: He was on Leno last night and they played the reaction on the radio. People were screaming their heads off for that boy. Grown women too. So I guess I'm not the only one who likes them young! :lmao:
