We are staying at the WL 8-1 - 8-7!!!

Question - about breakfast in the Whispering Canyon.....do you really need reservations for breakfast? Can you just walk in around 8:00ish?

I realize I need ressies for other table service places.

Does anyone have a preference for breakfast between Roaring Forks and Whispering Canyon?

I've been reading through the thread, a lot of good info and some good pics to boot.

I'm hoping to stay at the WL sometime in the middle of 2010 (maybe May). It's a toss up between the WL or a Fort Wilderness cabin. Gotta say though I'm leaning toward the WL. It looks awesome and though I could probably get a 3 or 4 bedroom house offsite for the same price as the rooms I'll need here, I think the atmosphere of the WL will be worth the price.

I've searched YouTube for some good videos of the lodge, does anyone have any direct links for good video tours?

The Fork's breakfasts were OK, nothing particularly special. The muffins, biscuits and bagels were fresh & tasty, but the eggs & hashbrowns were a little iffy. I'd describe it like a Denny's breakfast - but a bit pricier (the egg, bacon & cheese croissant was 5.99 for just the sandwich).

Can't speak for the Canyon's breakfasts, but if you're on a schedule and planning on getting to the parks early, don't count on quick service. Both times we've been there we waited quite awhile for both a table and food.


The Fork's food is pretty solid, a step above fast food. Their burgers are above average (think Wendy's or In-n-Out), the chicken breast nuggets (not the kid's ones) are like the McDonald's Chicken Selects, the flatbread pizzas are pretty good.

The deli sandwiches are excellent - and it's nice to have a non-fried food option on the menu (I really do appreciate the quick service restaurants in general giving more diverse options - it's easy to get sick of burgers, chicken, and pizza. We enjoyed both Cosmic Ray's and the Tomorrowland Terrace in the MK.)

I was wondering the same thing because although I only have 2 kids one is a restless sleeper and the other a light sleeper. They really wanted separate beds. That being said, I waited to see what the size of the room before deciding about the bed. There is no room in the WL room for a rollaway. We barely had enough room to add a drying rack.

When I booked the room I was told they do have them, but I never asked. You might want to call the Lodge directly and ask. I know you can't have 5 people in room at WL.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to miss the Mickey Waffles we had at CBR last time. I guess Roaring Forks doesn't serve them.

No Mickey Waffles at Roaring Fork. The deli sandwiches are premade. When you ordered, they took a "Slice" and put it on the plate. They are very large. They are behind the counter not in the fridge. DH really liked the turkey and brie.

The deli sandwiches are premade. When you ordered, they took a "Slice" and put it on the plate. They are very large. They are behind the counter not in the fridge. DH really liked the turkey and brie.

Mine was made right in front of me - the fixin's were behind the counter and my server put the sandwich together. Maybe they're pre-made during busy times to be quicker.

I liked the roast beef and blue cheese.

DH says no on the freezer. Although it took a couple of days for the fridge to get things cold, once it did, everything was very cold. No ice though.

I love the geyser. And I'm excited because after discussing things with my husband, I'm throwing together a quick trip to the F&W festival with my mom and my daughters. We were supposed to go to Ireland next year but after realizing that it would cost about a year's college tuition, I just couldn't justify it. My mom said the whole point is to take a trip together and she's never been to WDW. I think she's going to love Epcot and the AK especially. We're doing a split stay between AKL and the WL.
We're got a good package discount and the free dining, so we could only choose the courtyard view with a bunk bed (which Heckle and Jeckle will love - they're 5 and 6). I requested a view of the geyser on the 5th floor. Last year I had a woods view booked and ended up with courtyard view (which was very nice). So who knows what I'll get this time around.

Sorry, they do not.

They do get fairly cold though. We always ship a case of water to the resort and put it in the fridge to chill. We grab one for each of us when we head out in the morning and they stay cold until we finish them off. We then come back for an afternoon break and take two more bottles with us when we head out again.

It looks to me like every room will be fairly convenient to getting around the resort. I guess my question is are there any bad room locations? We want to be fairly close to everything: pool, boat, bus, Roaring Forks, etc., but it doesn't look like anything is all that far.

I agree. We were all the way at the end of the North Wing overlooking the water. Yes, it was quite a walk to the buses, but it was all inside and through the lobby. I could walk through that lobby everyday.

We soon figured that if we took the stairs right outside our room, we were really close to the boats and pool. You'll find the best way around, and you'll love it.

We were in the north wing as well and it wasn't a bad walk at all. As Planning frantic mom stated it was all under one roof. My kids took turns hitting the button for the elevator (4 and 6 yr old) and as far as I am concerned any excuse to walk through the beautiful lobby and maybe a quick stroll through the mercantile is good.

I love the north wing (woods view) - it was quiet and we watched Wishes fireworks from our room window every night The 'bear face' location might be a fairly central location for a room. But I'm not 100% certain on that...

My family's other favorite was to sit on the white sand 'beach' and watch the boats out on the water and just relax-it was so peaceful. We just adore that resort! It was such a comfortable atmosphere that we truly felt as though we were returning 'home' after a day at the park(s).
