The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Honestly, I can't think of anything bad about the Wilderness Lodge. If I could change just one thing, I would make Artist Point more like a really good steak house. They have made the meals to stranglely fancy.:confused3

Anyone stay CL lately?

I'm looking for a "menu" of evening offerings.

What time are drinks served? I've read 5 pm to 10 pm, is that accurate?

have to say that I so agree to the idea of a steak house. they could still do their salmon etc, but most of the offerings are just too fancy schmancy IMHO.

A surprise CL stay for DH! :)

Now, please tell me that he can grab a beer at the club on the way to the pool. Or, are the only drinks available non-alcoholic?

Well, I just upgraded from a family suite at ASMu to a junior suite/deluxe room at WL! I'd been hesitant to do it, until dh told me that this our big trip and we should stay where we want. WL it is! We toured through the lobby last May, and it sure was gorgeous. I've seen pics of the Christmas decorations there, and I'm just too excited about being there to see them in person ... every single day!!

I'm about 149 or 148 days out (trying to remember), arriving down there on 29 Nov. Should I wait a few days to see if IPO contacts me, or should I go ahead and contact them? And ... As far as itinerary planning ... I'm not sure which park we're going to do which day because the schedules aren't out yet. We'll be on the basic DDP; do you think park hours will be out before the dining window opens up? I'd like to take advantage of the morning EMH, and some of our ADRs will depend on which park we're in. We've already got our MVMCP tickets, so at least that's done ...

Oh, yeah, and about CL ... Is turn-down service provided automatically, or is it something you have to request? And, as for the booze in the lounge, is it complementary, or is it like a bar and we have to pay for it? I know, silly question, but dh wants to know ... really, he does (it's not me)!

Just popping in to say hello, and subscribe, as I think we will be doing our first stay at the WL for our trip next year. Just returned from a 9 day stay at CSR, and want to try out something new!

I figure reading this thread, and all the others, over a year in advance, should give me enough time to plan this next trip! :lmao:

The beer and wine come out at 5pm with the appetizers. Just ask the cast members and they will get him one.

We were there a couple weeks ago and they had chicken, chicken, chicken (only kidding). :lmao:

No really, they had chicken with two kinds of potatoes, sausage and peppers, pulled pork, etc. Dishes like that.

Yes, drinks are served at 5pm until 10pm.

Hello and congratulations!!

You will have a great time.

The IPO should contact you at around 100 days out. If they don't, just send off an email. But, they have been very good lately.

I would start to research now, so that you have all your ADR and event reservation ideas ready.

Yes, turndown service is automatically given to all CL guests. The "booze" in the loungs is complementary, they will have several kinds of wine, beer and cordials!! And, that was not a silly question.

ENJOY, ENJOY!!

I totally respect all your feelings , but sorry, I have to disagree. It is about time that Disney is giving the Chef's at Artist Point the freedom to CREATE! It has been way too long that they have held them back. This will bring them into the realm of the TOP Signatures Restaurants like Flying Fish, Cali Grill, etc. Those Chef's have always had freedom to create and it shows in their cuisine.

I wish that AP would bring back some of the items they served when they first opened. Elk, rabbit, ostrich. But, they had to dumb down because of the masses. The only way to get these now are when AP has their special events.

With their new manager bring in fresh ideas, I think he will bring sophistication back to this restaurant, the way it used to be. :goodvibes

I can totally understand your feelings and appreciate them as well. I just wish they would include some plainer offerrings as well.

I totally agree with you. They should include both! The funny thing is that I think Artist Point has one of the smallest menues as far as choice. I think that Flying Fish has double the entrees of AP.

Have a wonderful and safe 4th!

Hello! We are staying in a 2-bedroom WL Villa in September and can hardly wait...this is our first time staying there! It will be hubby and myself, his parents, and our 3.5 year old. We are not DVC members, we just wanted this room due to its size and having our own washer/dryer, etc.

First question - can we request bed railings from mousekeeping for the couch pullout bed? That is where DD will sleep, but she's used to having the bed railings.

Second question - are we allowed to use the CL lounge/services? I ask only because I'm pretty sure a 2-bedroom Villa is a lot more expensive than a CL room.

I'm not 100% sure on the bed rails, as I have never actually stayed over in the Villas, but I *think* you can request them.

As far as the Club Lounge, you would not be able to do that. None of the DVC rooms have CL access, just the CL floor at the Lodge.

I have question about contacting the IPO office at WL. My husband and I had a reservation for a courtyard room for 9/12/09 - 9/19/09 and just decided to upgrade it to club level last weekend.:)

Since we are getting near our arrival date and I hadn't heard from IPO at all after we booked, I sent off an email yesterday with a few questions and also requests. We are celebrating our first anniversary on this trip so I wanted to have them help me with a surprise in the room and so on.

I did get the automatic email saying they received my email and would respond within 24 hours of receipt, however I didn't get any other response yet from them today.

I'm wondering if this is common. Does it being the weekend now have anything to with it? I'm really excited for this trip and this is our first time staying club level so I want it to be extra special. I'm just a little disappointed that they haven't responded yet because I'm really excited to hear what their responses will be.:yay:

Any info would be much appreciated. I am so glad to have found this thread. The info at the beginning is really helpful and we love Wilderness Lodge!

We're staying WL CL for the first time in August. Any time I email them I have a response in minutes. Try calling. They're super nice!!

I was reading a post on another thread about the "H" word... dare I saw it... hurricanes.

We're going in August, if one was to hit how does the lodge handle it?

Is there food available? Etc?

Let's hope none of us every have to find out!

Okay, thank you I will try that. I just didn't want to be pushy if they are maybe really busy or something.
