Jinx reporting!

Now THIS is a helpful thread! When August and I go to the World in 2010 we plan on spending the last couple days of our vacation here at the Wilderness Lodge. August is PSYCHED. Upon viewing all of the deluxe resorts her heart was absolutely set on this one.

I've heard things like the rooms being kind of shabby, but that doesn't bother us. We aren't too picky about things like that. But I've heard some negative things about the CM's being rude or cold....that does concern me a little. :scared: I just don't want rudeness on my vacation. And I'd like to feel welcome and at home at my resort of choice.

Does anyone have any first hand accounts of different experiences with WL CM's? Thanks!

Shabby rooms? I've never seen one. :) You'll find a lot of people who adore the lodge because even the bed posts are well-themed! It's a beautiful, cozy place.

As for the CMs...I don't recall a lot of interaction with WL CMs on past trips, outside of checking in, which was without issues. They were also quick to respond when I called about a guest smoking near the smaller pool (not even close to a smoking area).

Ah! Then perhaps I'm just being paranoid. I just find it hard to believe. Every CM I've ever encountered was so friendly! Thank you!

I wouldn't worry about the CM's being cold or rude!! We have stayed at the WL 8 times in the past 4 years and the Cm's we have encountered there are some of the best in our opinion!!! It is one of the many many reasons we continue to return to the WL!!! :goodvibes

Okay, I'm relieved. You have revived my confidence. We're so excited to stay at WL we could just bust!! :hyper: ....we never thought we would stay at a Deluxe, so this is like a dream come true. Still, it's very far in the future. So I shouldn't speak so soon.

Thanks for your help, everyone! We'll be returning to this thread frequently! :goodvibes

CM were very friendly to us. One CM even stopped us to offer to take our picture in front of the totem pole outside the mercantile. It turned out to be my favorite picture of the trip. Every trip is different, but every CM I have encountered at WL has been pleasant.

Stayed at WL Jan 2009. CMs were very friendly.
Check in - great
Concierge - Wonderful A ++++ - tips on anything and everything to make our stay easier
Roaring Forks - Good - check out girls were stressed, dining room area were helpful (even took our trays for us).
Whispering Canyon Creek - very friendly.
Mechantile - extremely friendly and accomodating
Pin Trading Stand - DH got stuck talking here too many times.
Photopass desk- this was our one bad encounter. We were second in wait to get some service. I think the guy was stressed, he asked us to come back! Maybe the current woman asking questions was going to be a long time:confused3 . This got DH miffed because he wanted to book a resort shoot and have our photos previewed as we had pre-purchased the cd. We didn't get the resort shoot because of this, honestly we were the ones that lost out not disney. We did our own shoot with our own camera at the GF and I love those photos!

btw-our experience is most likely typical for any resort.
Would we stay there again - yes (after we have tried all the resorts)
Would we recommend it to our friends and families- yes
WL was my most desired resort stay based on marketing material. After touring other resorts on this trip I now want to try all the others!

as far as the rooms being shabby, my experience this past year was the exact opposite. We stayed at the Beach Club, POR and the WL this past year and only the room at the BC was below standards in my opinion.

The boats at WL are great and we never waited more than 5 mins at any time. As far as the buses go, the bus to Epcot was about a 20 min wait. All other buses were never more than 10.

I'm so excited im beside myself!! :cool1: I just booked our may trip at the WL with the passholder discount!! There is a catch though. The standard room we have booked with 2 queen beds, is not available the friday & saturday night of our trip. The only thing available was a courtyard view/bunk beds. We dont want the bunk beds but this was our only option. We are splitting our stay May 10th-15th in a standard room and than 15th-17th in the bunk bed room. Im hoping that between now and the trip something opens up so we can just stay in one room the entire time, but what are the odds of checking in on the 10th and telling them we don't want bunk beds and maybe staying in the same room?? I'd rather the bunk beds go to a family that wants them anyway, its me (22) and my brother (17) we'll make do if we must, but has anybody had experience with this?

Nicole,

Congratulations!!

From The Lodge point of view, they would prefer to keep you in the same room if they possible can. Keeps housekeeping costs down.

Anyway, what I would suggest you doing is make sure you call reservations back and ask them to "link" your two reservations together and that, if possible, you are kept in the same room the entire trip. Also ask them to put a request in that would keep you in a room with two queen beds and that you prefer not to have bunks. What might happen is that you will either stay in the standard room or with some pixie dust they can upgrade you to either a woods view or a regular courtyard view room. I would think the later as you are paying more for the second part of your trip.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip.

Thanks for your help! I just got off the phone with CRO and the CM said linking the rooms together wouldn't be something they could do, it would be done at check in. Its called a "continuing stay" any thoughts?

It should be noted from now that it is a continuing stay. They changed the term a year or so ago from linking to continuing. Call back and make sure that the continuing part is on there now.

Thank you! Ill have to call! Does this mean we will only have 1 KTTW card or will we still have to go back down to the front desk on friday and check in/check out/get new cards?

Most likely you'll still have to go back down and change cards. We did this last nov at POR with 2 rooms. The rate had changed midway through so we had to check in and out. Thankfully they now calculate each night on the same bill instead of changing reservations for different prices! Maybe they will upgrade you when you check in and you won't have to bother. Fingers crossed!
