From page 1, second post...I normally don't bother with any particular room requests, but since I'm traveling alone this time I'd prefer not to have a ground floor room with sliders out to a patio. It just makes me feel less safe. I currently have a standard view room booked for WL. Do any of the standard view rooms walk out on ground level? It looked like, from what I've seen, that they are all at least on the 2nd floor, but I wanted to be sure. Depending on the grounds, I've seen 2nd floor rooms still walking out on flat ground.
I must say it's not really much of anything. Not long and not really fast...but my 9 YO loved it! I went down it a few times, too. I would say it's like most other "hotel slides"...if that makes sense.
Just got back from 4 nights at the lodge! Roaring forks was busy any time after 8 for breakfast and picked up again at lunch time. Cast members moved the line along and things went smoothly. food was good too!
we were given a 1st floor room first and we just were not happy with it, with a quick call to the front desk we were moved to a room on the third floor.
Mousekeeping was great, except for the one day when the timing was just wrong and we had to call for them to clean the room when we went to dinner.
decorations were great
transportation was smooth and both the buses and boats were running in a timely manor.
Whispering Canyon Cafe dinner was the least liked dinner of the week, we were put in the "annex" the area in front of the pin cart and we missed all the antics inside which made the waitress throwing straws at us in an empty area seem silly. food was dry and meat not great quality.
service awsome.
any questions you can send my way. i have some photos to post as soon as i can get organized.
Oh man... I am dissapointed to hear about Whispering Canyon Cafe. What do others think? Is it worth going to?
From page 1, second post...
STANDARD VIEW: Rooms have 2 Queen Beds, and are located on Floors 4, 5 & 6. On the North (MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and lookout to roof peaks.
There are no Standard View Rooms that are located on the ground floor only 4th floor or higher. So you will be OK.

My 5 year old and 2 year old nephews are still talking about the waterslide from our trip back in September.
And what time does Roaring Forks close? Do they stop serving hot food earlier? DH arrives later than we do, and I want to pick up a sandwich for him before they close. I don't suppose there's anywhere I can microwave his food when he arrives? His flight flies in at 1020 pm and he's taking Magical Express, so I'm not expecting him until after 1130 or so.
Thanks!
First time at WDW and stayed at WL. We just loved it! We were in room 6068 (Woods view) We had a room that overlooked the lobby area (& awesome Christmas tree) and with our outside view, we watched the MK fireworks every night. We didn't have to ask for the turndown service. It was done every night we were there (except a couple times when we were in the room and turned down the service but were able to keep the chocolate mints! lol)
I'm sure my pictures will look like everyone else's but I will post them when I get them uploaded on the net!
Thanks for the wonderful update! We'll be checking into the WL on 1/24 for 8 glorious magical nights!I can't wait ----
We will be checking on the 24th also! What time are you checking in? I asked a CM about doing the online check in and he told me that I have a better chance of getting my room request if I don't do the online check in. Anyone heard anything about this?
