WL shipping address:

Disney's Wilderness Lodge
901 Timberline Dr.
Lake Buena Vista, FLA 32830

Put something like this on it:
Hold for arrival 12/6/08: Guest Jennifer XXXX/Reservation XXXXXXX/

Depends which service you use as to when you mail it. I think I mailed 6 days before we left. Aim to have it there on the first business day before your arrival so it doesn't get buried. That said, we've used Garden Grocer the past few trips since shipping ended up costing more than their service charge.

(Can I state that I am a little worried about that WL Bakery number being published on the disboards? Many, many people read this thread and it is now google-able. I would hate for them to be inundated with phone calls when Disney clearly prefers you NOT call the bakeries directly. Once the direct line to the GF was published here, the woman responsible was buried by customer phone calls and demands - that is not too strong a word, IMO -and I believe it was directly responsible for her reluctance to help people plan custom cakes anymore. JMO)

I wouldn't worry too much, that number has been "google-able" and on the "Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread" for about 2 1/2 years.

You are right. I've been with that thread since the very beginning (and the one prior too) and the addition of WL Bakery's phone number in the front list must be a relatively new addition. I still think it royally stinks to publicize the bakeries' phone numbers when they don't want to be called directly, but that is why I will never be a mod here, LOL. Sorry I brought it up.

I have heard some podcasters say that you should send the package about 3-5 days in advance and make sure you put your name and reservation # on the package. I am trying garden grocer as I have to pack diapers and baby supplies and the cost would outweigh the delivery fee of $12 for garden grocer.

Wish I could help more.

:thumbsup2 Thanks so much!! It didn't even occur to me that the delievery charge from Garden Grocer would most likely me less then the shipping for me to ship a box! We have an 18 month old so I need diapers etc.

FYI: I just called the WL bakery phone number above after calling the front desk and having my call shuffled around to three people who weren't the right ones at all! The recording answered with "Wilderness Lodge cake order hotline" so apparently it IS the right place to call!

Thanks for posting the info... now I just have to decide whether to order a cake for our friends or chocolate-covered strawberries. All decisions in life should be this difficult! :hippie:

Glad to hear this. It's a question of semantics in the end ... "cake order hotline" can just be someone's voicemail box rather than a direct line into the bakery itself. Have fun deciding - I have to make some "tough" decisions soon as well!

The CM who just called (and was SUPER nice and helpful, btw) is not directly in the Bakery but is the person who handles cake orders for the Lodge. She is backstage in Private Dining.

awesome...thanks for the info. I'll definitely be calling the bakery number...or whatever it is.... this week :thumbsup2

I have a # for the WL bakery. It is 407-824-2090.

I call the resort's main line and ask to be transferred to private dining. We've ordered cakes and treats to be delivered to rooms through private dining and that has worked like a charm. 407-824-3200 If we needed something beyond the usual scope, a CM from the bakery called us back.

Thank you both for the numbers, I will make a note of them and pass them on to my mom bofore we leave.

Any pictures?!

Can anyone tell me about the pool slide? Is it long? Fast? Will kids aged 14, 12, and 10 enjoy it? By looking at the pix it doesn't look like much of anything really.

TIA!
Michelle

I have some pictures of the view from the room and a couple from inside the hotel. I will try to get them on disboards as soon as I can.

The slide is not that long but I think they will like the pool, the stream dumps out into the pool and the ducks love swimming in the pool.:santa:

I must say it's not really much of anything. Not long and not really fast...but my 9 YO loved it! I went down it a few times, too. I would say it's like most other "hotel slides"...if that makes sense.

What view was your room? Standard, woods view, etc.?

Thanks so much!:goodvibes
