You have already received some great advise about room location, but if you would please visit page 1 on this thread and read the second post I have written a small review on each room type located at the Lodge.

There is so much information on page 1 that after you read the first few post you will be as informed as most WL Vets because so many of use have shared the information.

Have fun planing and I hope you and your daughter will have a MAGICAL stay at the Lodge.

Okay read through the info (thanks Beckie..I had read the first post but not the subsequent one w/ the specific room info!)...

I'm thinking of requesting an Inner Courtyard View off Lobby (Bear Room) or any other Inner Courtyard View room on the 4th or 5th floors (I would prefer to have an unobstructed balcony view).

Does that sound right?

It was difficult to tell from the room map... are their elevators in the main part of the building or just out on the wings?

...and one more question (for now!) what is the best way to get to MK for an early breakfast at CRT?

Wow !

Thanks SO much, MAGICinMYHEART ! What an informative first page !!

You must have a very 'magical heart', indeed.

That was a LOT of effort on your part, and it's much appreciated.

I think those requests sound good! :thumbsup2 At least on the south wing there are elevators in the main lobby area and then there is also another set further down the wing. Only stairs at the ends. I haven' ever gotten a room in the north wing so I can't say for certain on that.

What time is your breakfast reservation?

Have a great time!!! :goodvibes

::yes:: Yes your request would be be great for an unobstructed balcony view on the 4th or 5th floors.

There are three elevator banks for guest to use at Wilderness Lodge the main elevators are located in the Lobby on the right, with the 2nd and 3rd elevator banks located half-way down each wing. On the map they are located or indicated by an
X that should help you locate them.

To arrive at Magic Kingdom for an early ADR @ CRT you have several options.

1.) The small resort Blue Flag Motor Launchs start operating @ 6:45am you may take the boat over to the Contemporary Resort then either:
a.) From the Contemporary Lobby take the Resort Monorail back around to the Magic Kingdom.
b.) Walk from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom using the walkway that is to the south side of the resort. (This option is quicker than taking the monorail around in my opinion.)
2.) Take the Direct Bus from the Lodge to the Magic Kingdom. Buses start running at 7:00am and would be the quickest/fastest way to the Magic Kingdom.

*note: Transportation for the Red Flag Motor Launches/Motor Cruisers starts approximately 1/2 hour before Park opening if the Magic Kingdom has an EMH for your dates you maybe able to just take the Red Flag Boat to the Magic Kingdom.

I called on the 1st to book the MVMCP and asked the CM when you can book the Sliegh Ride from WL, she stated it should be soon but she was not sure of the date they are available for sale, and that I should just keep calling back cause it should be soon. Anyone have any additional info?

Thank you, but as I have posted many times the information we have has been gathered over many years and many DIS-Members have helped compile all the information.

Just added a few new photo's this morning to page 1, that MassJester took last week.

I do try and keep everything updated and note any major changes during the year.

So everyone planning a trip should always check the first page for updates. Over the years we Vets have found things change overnight. :confused3

Thanks I appreciate it

Very nice!! We have horses ourselves and love riding. I've been horse crazy since I was little and always wanted to do the ride at FW. I still plan on doing it someday even though the horses are mostly on automatic - I can get my fill of excitement on my own - too much sometimes! :rotfl: I just need to fulfill my childhood dream. And we always make a trip over to visit the draft horses at the stable - if the CM's have time they're always willing to tell you about those horses too. :goodvibes

Yes, I was going to mention this, too. When I did the trail ride it was right after I had been to MNSSHP, so I was asking about the horse that carries the Headless Horseman. The guide was telling me about him, and then was telling me which stall he was in over in the main stable, so that I could go see him. I didn't have time, but it definitely sounds like there's no problem going over there to see those horses, too. I think the main stable is over by the entrance to FW? Somone correct me if I'm wrong.

Our TA could only get us the pin code discount for a Courtyard View. Can anyone help me w/ the different kinds of Courtyard View rooms available and what I could put down for a room request? Or are there no "bad" Courtyard View rooms and I just shouldn't request anything specific?

I had a CY room when I stayed at WL, but I got the first floor, so I didn't have a balcony and didn't really have a view. So I would say that's the main thing, try not to get a first floor room.

We don't own our own horses, but for the amount of money we spend so my daughter can ride and show...we may as well do :)

Since we are staying at the WL it will be an easy trip over to FW to visit the stables even if we don't ride.

Thanks!

...:thumbsup2 VERY cool!
Thank you too kimmar!!!

Wilderness Lodge Holiday Sleigh Rides 2007

...I love this pic....I wish we had made ressies to do this while at WDW last Christmas....:guilty: (...or, can you only do this if you are guest of WL?? I can't remember...:confused3 )

Kimmar
Anyone can make reservations for the Sleigh Ride you don't have to be a guest staying at the Lodge. Most make an ADR for WCC then do the Sleigh Ride but even that isn't necessary.

...wouldn't have worked out anyhoo....that was not a very good night for us...:guilty:

Hey WL'ers!

When do the Christmas decorations come down? My wife missed our last
trip to Disney in Dec 07, and she really wants to see the Christmas
decorations/music, but its going to be tight for us in Dec.

Do they stay up the first week of Jan.?
Any does anyone know if they still have the castle lighting in Jan as well?

Hey guys!

Our upcoming trip is our 4th at the WL, and I have a courtyard room booked. I love having a room overlooking the lobby.

Question is, I would love to also have a king bed, but I don't know if there are any kings that over look the lobby. Anyone have the inside track?

Thanks, Angela :thumbsup2

Okay... my room request is in (Inner Courtyard View off Lobby or any other Inner Courtyard View room on the 4th or 5th floors) for my trip w/ dd for her birthday in July. Our TA added it to our reservation.

Of course now dd has been looking at pictures and would love it if we got a bunkbed room. Our reservation is for just a Courtyard View...NOT w/ bunkbeds... but it seems that some people put bunkbeds on their reservations as requests? Can this be done?

I don't think my pin code was valid for CY view w/ bunkbeds so I can't go that route.

Can/Should I add bunk beds to the reservation request or should I just wait until we get there? We are checking in at about 10am or so if that makes a difference.

Thanks...you all have been SO helpful!

We are leaving in less than a month and have a few questions. Sorry if any of these have already been answered, but it would take forever for me to go through each page to check.

1. We have an ADR at 1900 Park Fare for 6 p.m. our first night there and instead of getting their by bus I was wanting to take a boat over to the CR and monorail over to the GF. What boat will we be taking and what time would you recommend we be at the dock for this route?
Even though not a monorail resort, do you know how their stops are from the CR?

2. I see the boat for the MK starts opporating 1/2 hour before opening, so I guess we will need to take the direct bus for our 8:05 a.m. ADR at Crystal Palace? What time should we be at the bus area?

3. I have seen the WL picture thread and saw some pictures of the pool area at different times and some show tons of people at the pool area. Since we will be there the end of this month and it will be pretty warm I'm sure the pool will be popular. Is there a good time to use the pool when it is less crowded?

4. Is there a recommened time to be on the beach to watch the water parade? I know it starts at 9:35 p.m. but how soon should we be there to see it?

5. How long of a walk from WL to Ft. Wil? We will be going to the sing-a-long one evening. Should we take the boat?

6. When traveling back to WL from MK during the day (afternoon time) what is the best route? Will the direct bus still be running? Boat (how often does it come and go)? Or walk to CR and boat from their?

7. If we wait till the end of the AK parade (4:30ish) and then take the bus back to WL will we be back to the resort in time to go up to our rooms for a little while before our 5:55 p.m. ADR at WCC? Assuming we catch the bust right away and it's a direct trip to our resort I don't see a problem but was just curious.

8. What are the chances my parents will be able to get a king bed room that is not handicapped? I'm thinking not good, since the rooms are already limited and we are coming in the middle of memorial day weekend :sad1:

9. DME question for WL guest: from the time your plane lands, about how long does it take to get to the WL on average? Our plane is scheduled to land at noonish. Will we be at the lodge by 2 p.m. at least? No plans for parks first day in. Just wanted to get settled in our rooms, check out the resort since it will be all our first times there and relax before taking off for dinner at 1900 Park Fare.

TIA for any help with all my questions.

Tom
I have stayed at the Lodge many times during December but never in January. So I don't know the schedule as to when they remove the decoractions at the Lodge, I do know that they will be up for a few days in January.

GOOD LUCK
Beckie
