The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Yep, I requested it via fax a couple days before we got there.

May I be a little redundant and ask you more about your room? Were you located above the WCC at all, or away from it? Did you notice any noise, and how did you phrase your faxed request? The last time I stayed at WL was four years ago, and I hadn't found the DIS, so didn't even think of room requests. I know I liked where we were, but I have no idea where that was. :lmao:

Room was Standard View Room, but I booked on the 5th floor so we could see the MK fireworks (and we did have a very clear view). We even had a nice view of the Contemporary, so I was REAL pleased with our standard view rooms.

Not sure if i would shell out the extra $$ for courtyard since I was so happy with the Standard view.

almost sounds like they upgraded you to a woodsview room instead of giving you a standard view room....

since I posted a couple weeks ago with questions about this resort, I just wanted to update everyone on our recent stay. The WL is just plain AWESOME of a resort.

We were a little thrown-off the first day given we only stayed in moderates, and weren't used to having everything under one roof (used to walking to the main building and food courts). But we really grew to like the deluxe set-up were everything is under one roof, including our rooms.

Sad part is now I'm hooked on WL and will be paying more for our hotel stays from now on!!! Good thing I have an AP pass though.....

....oh no, another 'goner'....;) ...sound like you had a wonderful time...can't wait for pix....

Yep, unfortunately I won't be able to settle for anything less than the WL for my upcoming stays. In all my years of reading the DIS, I've always read that once you stay in deluxes, there will be no turning back to moderates----and that is very true.

So what you're telling me is that after two-three years of staying value-mod that once I stay in the WL this year my wallet is done for?:lmao:

I think this is a price I'm willing to pay...let's just hope it doesn't affect DS' college fund! :rotfl2:

I am so looking forward to our upcoming trip. I have experienced a little buyers remorse...but I know that will all go away once I walk through those doors. :::sigh:::

I am so looking forward to walking through those big front doors again!!! Awwwwww, what a feeling!!
I couldn't have said it better!:goodvibes

Just wondering if anyone has done the conscierge thing since it was redone and if you would reccommend it and why/why not. Is it worth the extra? What ias the current extra? What do you get for this? thanks guys. We took a tour many years ago before it was done over but have never stayed higher than the 6th floor. #0th Anniversary is coming up and i am trying to figure out what to do.

I haven't felt that way yet. we love Pop and will be there in 10.5 days for my birthday. I haven't stayed at a Moderate yet, but I plan to someday, maybe next Spring. I do love WL tough and I am glad that I am going to get a chance to stay there again. I think it really has to do with what mood I am in. In June we aren't in the room much and we will have a child traveling with us, in December, we do appreciate the room more and even though said child will be with us again, she will really appreciate WL as much as we do. In fact I am going to take her over there while we are there in 10.5 days so she can see where we are staying. Her mom, brother, sister and aunt will be at Pop and, so she thinks she is the cat's meow, staying with the adults.

That's great about "staying with the adults." It'll make her feel so special. :goodvibes And I know what you mean about different trips calling for different resorts. We've done a variety in the past, and after two years at a value, I just felt this year was the year to take the bull by the horns, so to speak. I'm really looking forward to our "splurge" free dining at WL.:thumbsup2

Yeah, she loves being with the adults. She will be with us at Pop in June and she is looking forward to that. She likes feeling like one of the adults, since she has to help with her little brother and sister so much. We splurged and stayed at WL last August for DH's birthday and we fell in love so we decided the we would stay there in Dec since it is so beautifully decorated and it is easier for mom to get around.

I've heard it's gorgeous during the holidyas. When in Dec are you going?

It is jawdoppingly beautiful. We enjoyed sitting in the lobby just enjoying the decorations when we ate there in Dec 2006. We are going Dec 13-21.

We just returned from a 9 night stay at Wilderness Lodge. Arrived the 14th and checked out the 23rd. Time goes by way too fast! We had booked a courtyard room, requesting an inner courtyard view and away from the lobby. Boy did we get it! We got room 5165, the last "regular" room all the way down one of the wings of the Lodge. Those were some long hallways after being in the parks all day and night! :rotfl2: It was a fabulous view and I was so sad to have to leave. We did get to be the Flag Family one day, and the only reason I even knew to ask about it was because of the DIS. So, thank you to all who ever mentioned it here and in other threads. It was a wonderful experience.

Will post many pictures once I get them developed. :wizard:

 We started out in deluxes...! I attempted to get DH into a moderate for this upcoming trip, but it was a no-go, he's a Deluxe Snob already! ;) All well, good thing I don't mind!!!!! :rotfl2: And besides, if we were in a moderate this time, we wouldn't be staying at the WL now would we?! :cool1:

I don't recall this being asked here...and I couldn't find it on page 1...but, does anyone know what date, or approx date, they start decorating for Christmas? Is my early November trip too early to catch any of this?
