I don't recall this being asked here...and I couldn't find it on page 1...but, does anyone know what date, or approx date, they start decorating for Christmas? Is my early November trip too early to catch any of this?

I don't think there is an exact date that they go up, but it should be during your stay.

:hyper: :cool1:  :yay: :woohoo: :dance3: I hadn't even thought about this possiblity until someone, on a random thread, mentioned they love my trip dates because of Christmas decorations. YAHOO! I'm so looking forward to seeing WL decked out!!!

I already psoted this but this is a WL specific question: is there laundry facilities on every floor??
I think I read that somewhere but remember it being by pool/snack bar area in 2003

There is only one laundry and it on the first floor near Roaring Forks.

Ok gang....I leave 2 weeks from tonight for the WL and SSR. I am so excited. I can't believe its here. I planned this last September! The time feels like its flown by.

If anyone has anything they like for me to find an answer for while I'm there....post it...I'll try to find an answer for it. I remember staying at the lodge 2 months after it opened in 1994 and I'm still just as excited right now. I cannot describe the feeling that I get when I walk thru those massive doors. (even a total stranger couldn't comprehend it)

I am getting my box ready to ship down later today and have a question. Should I address the box this way:

Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort
HOLD FOR: Amy, CHECK IN DATE 6/5/08
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Florida. 32830

And then put the "hold for" info in a couple of different places on the box?

I am trying to plan a suprise trip for my husband this coming Jan/Feb. The wilderness lodge is his favorite resort. He knows we plan on taking our family trip but he thinks it is just going to be in a standard room. I plan on suprising him with a concierge level room and hopefully some fun activities. I need some advice/help planning this trip for him. Can anyone suggest any family activities around/near the resort that my husband might enjoy? Also can anyone suggest what room we should request? We have only stayed concierge level once in room 7117 (we got a suprise upgrade from standard view). I liked the room we had because it gave us a good view of silver creek and courtyard...also we could see the fireworks from the MK above the buildings across from us. Second question is can I arrange to have the room decorated and have a package delivered from disney florist ahead of time, so when we walk in it is already done? I also would like to have a cake delivered..any advice? Last question is what dates do you think would be better Jan 25-30th or Feb 1st-6th. I just found out the superbowl will be Feb 1st not sure if this impacts the crowds in disney or not? Like I said any advice would be very helpful, my husband is so deserving of this and and I cant wait to suprise him! :)

I don't think it's necessary to put the "hold for" on more than one place..I never have

I always put it as:

Disney's Wilderness Lodge
(Name on Reservation)
Reservation #
Arriving On: MM/DD/YY
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Enjoy your upcoming trip!

I just booked our trip last night. Dec 7-14 Courtyard view!

I'm so excited I can't stand it. I've wanted to try WL for years. I had it booked last year with the 40% code and then DH said if we had 40% off he wanted to be on the monorail again. So I called back and got GF. Which was wonderful. But I'm really looking forward to trying WL this time.

I don't feel qualified to answer everything..but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in on a few things.

First, that's very sweet of you to plan this surprise. What a good wife! :)

As for activities..you could rent a boat right at the resort. I'm not sure how much that costs, but I believe page 1 of this thread has the info.

It's not at Wilderness Lodge, but just a short bus or boat ride to Ft Wilderness and you can enjoy the free campfire and movie there one evening. I see you have a 2 year old, and he might enjoy that. You could also so the Hoop Dee Do review there one evening.

As for the cake, check out the cake thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1173219

From what I understand, you can have a cake delivered at WCC or Artist's Point if you are eating there. You might also be able to order one by calling Private Dining a week or 2 in advance..but I'm not sure on that. I also read in that thread that you can order a cake at the Boardwalk Bakery and have a runner at WL go pick it up for you. Again, I'm not sure on that but..I thought I had read that.

One more thing, I read elsewhere that they will start having the Photo Pass Photo Shoots at WL starting this summer/fall. We did the one at GF last trip and it was wonderful and only takes 20 minutes. That might be a nice way for your family to remember the trip!

Happy planning! :)

Thanks! Now to get the box taped up and ready to ship! It looks like it will get there Tuesday afternoon if it goes out today.

We just did it for 4 nights. Was it worth it? Hmmm that's a personal decision. It's more of a value the more people in the room. For breakfast you get some danishes, cold cereal, mini bagels, fruit , yogurt and your drinks..they had a cappuccino machine which made the coffee better. I felt this in itself was worth it. Just to not have to deal with crowds and the time it takes to eat out. When we first arrived the lounge was closed so we went to Roaring forks for a snack. Just a couple of cookies and some chocolate milk cost us like $18!
The snacks could have been better: gold fish , cookies , gummi bears. Not much there. Other places were better.
Dinner time was ok....a soup and one entree with cheeses, crackers, veggies and dip, wine and beer.
After dinner was one hot dessert, cookies, and a few snacks. After dinner cordials and wine...

We enjoyed it all and felt it was worth it, but after 4 days we were ready for a change~The weird thing about this lounge was that they closed the doors between the serving times. We stayed at CR and AKL which were open all day with coffee, soda, water, and teas....

QUOTE=Lou-Ann;25346987]Just wondering if anyone has done the conscierge thing since it was redone and if you would reccommend it and why/why not. Is it worth the extra? What ias the current extra? What do you get for this? thanks guys. We took a tour many years ago before it was done over but have never stayed higher than the 6th floor. #0th Anniversary is coming up and i am trying to figure out what to do.[/QUOTE]

OK..one of you going down soon, I need help (Unless somebody already knows the answer)

There is a song that comes on the bus when you're heading to WL from the parks and I need to know the name. It's the very first "Western" type song that comes up. My husband and I hum it to each other, but I haven't been able to find out what the name of it is. If someone knows it, I'd love to know the name of it. If no one knows, if someone could possibly try to find out, I'd love you forever! Thanks so much!! :)

Hi!

This is very last minute, but I wanted to have this figured out to avoid catastrophe.

We want to go to EMH (morning) in the Magic Kingdom during our trip, and we do NOT want to take the bus. It seems like I read a post somewhere that said we would have to take a boat to the Contemporary and then ride the monorail over to get there for the extra hour. Am I getting this right? There are no direct boats to the Magic Kingdom for EMH(morning)?

TIA!

The bus ride to the MK is about three minutes long. Five max. It stops right by the ticket entrance. However, if you are really opposed to the bus you can take the boat directly to the MK. It's a pleasant ride but longer than taking the bus.

As you are leaving soon it will be helpful to go back and read page 1 again to refresh all the transportation information.

Ok Vets, another transportation question. After checking in on our first day, DS wants to hit the ESPN Club. My best bet would be to go to MK (either bus or boat) and get the bus to the BW, correct?

Correct :thumbsup2

I would take the bus, you'll be very close to the BW bus stop when you arrive at the Magic Kingdom.

If you were also going to be at EPCOT you could also exit through International Gateway and have a nice boat ride or even walk to the Boardwalk. (This would require using a day of your admission.)

Hi Beckie.

We are leaving tonight. I did actually read the main page about transportation before I posted my question. I usually try to find my answers in the archives before I post since I am sure that it is annoying for people to answer the same questions over and over again. I didn't see anything mentioned specifically about boats traveling to the MK for the opening of EMH (morning). It just said that the red boats run to MK 1/2 hour before MK opens. It wasn't clear whether this was 1/2 before EMH or just regular park opening time.

To confuse me further, I thought that I read a post at some point saying that the boats didn't run to MK in time for EMH (morning), so one would have to take a boat to the Contemporary (since they run before EMH) and take the monorail over to MK.

Do you happen to know for certain that we could take a red flag boat directly to MK for EMH (morning). I have three EXTREMELY EXCITED children who may be a little short on patience when it comes to getting to the MK. It won't be real fun if I get us all stranded at a resort or have us hopping boats for an hour.

Someone already posted about the bus not taking long. But our past experience with buses (granted, it was many years ago and at a value resort) was that you wait a rather long time for them to arrive, you don't necessarily get on the bus when it does arrive if there are a lot of people waiting before you, and then the bus makes a lot of stops when you do get on it.

So, if you have a clear answer to my boat question that will be so helpful. Thanks for all your hard work that you have put into this thread. I have been following it for months now, and I know that it must take a considerable amount of your time to help all of us with questions.

Yes ::yes:: the boats start running 1/2 half hour before the opening time of the Magic Kingdom, rather it's EMH (morning) or regular scheduled hours. The boats also continue to run 1 1/2 hour after the Magic Kingdom closes rather regular closing time, EMH (evening) MNSSHP, MVMCP or Pirate & Princess Party.

The direct bus from Wilderness Lodge departs from Bus Stop #1 and has never been crowded going or coming from the Magic Kingdom. (if the boats are running) Remember the boat service may be stopped during severe weather conditions or fog.

I meant to just reread the transportation information to refresh your memory not as a criticism to your question.
