Hi- I am wondering if there is a microwave in the quick service food place? My kids like the mac and cheese cups and I would like to pack some if there is a microwave available. Thanks!

Yes, there is a microwave in the dining section of the RCC.

DH and I are staying at Wilderness Lodge the second weekend in December. This thread has done nothing but excite us even more than we already were....if that was possible....:rotfl2:
Is there anything else we should know before going? This is the best place for information so ya'll please inform me!:goodvibes
Thanks, J:wizard:

Ok, the pool is really important to my family. That includes - places to sit, some shade available, drinks at the pool (and some food), the pool itself (is it crowded???), and the slide. And any info on the hot tub? Is there an additional 'quiet' pool or is there a deep end on the main pool?

Thanks for any info!

The pool is a nice small wonderful place to gather! As far as the slide being all that and a bag of chips..it really isn't that great but it's still a slide!!

In the main pool area, there are not a lot of shaded areas. Getting a table with an umbrella would be your best bet but over at the Villas Pool (no slide) there are more shaded areas.

The pool can get crowded because it's a smaller area than other pools, esp. in the summer!! The hot tubs at the main pool are nice but the hot tub at the villas pool tends to be less crowded.

Guests from FW used to hop the boat over to WL to "crash" the pool but now that they have redone their pool at FL with a slide, kid area, and hot tub, I'm going to be curious to see if it is less crowded when we're there in Dec.

The food is good. We always get one adult drink from the bar. My Ddad LOVES that they sell the WDW popcorn at the bar. Roaring forks is also close by so you'll see people get lunch and bring it to the pool area.

They do have towels at the pool for use. I'm not sure about the villas pool though???

The main pool has a bit of a deep end but no bigger than 6 ft I think? The little stream that starts in the lobby ends up in the pool so that's pretty cool!!

I hope that helps a bit! If you are looking for a 100% pool adventure YC/BC might be more for you but I'm sure you won't be upset with WL...just get there somewhat early to get a good spot!

I'll be staying there the same weekend!!! The only advice I can give you is that if you want a specific room request I would make it before the trip. It might not be granted but you can try! For example: we're booked courtyard view with bunk bed so I called and requested an Inner CY view of the main pool on an upper floor (we don't want a lower floor room).

That is really the only thing I can think of that you would need to do before coming!!

We are doing a split stay at VWL/WL. We'll have free internet in the room at VWL--can someone give me the info on internet at WL? My understanding is that you can pay $10-12/day to plug in in the room. I had heard that their was WiFi in the lobby--is that true, and how do they charge for that? (Any more specifics on where to access it?) Can you access it as long as you have paid for the day in your room?
TIA! :)

I don't believe they have WiFi in the lobby. I know they do at CSR but I don't believe so at WL lobby. You pay $9.95 a day (24 hour long period) and you will hook up via the ethernet cord that is in the closet (in a bag). When you log on, it will charge your room account and you'll see it on the statement when you check out. We have used the internet before and it is a decent connection. If you are looking to do heavy business you might not be thrilled but to check email, etc. it will be fine! Enjoy!

Does anyone know when the Wilderness Lodge put up their Christmas decorations? We will be there from November 6th through the 14th. Are we going to be too early to see that magnificent lobby all decked out for the season?

I am wondering about this as we are planning a trip for early November next year.

We just got back yesterday from 8 days at WL. It was great. We took everyones advice and got North Building, Otter Pond, 5th floor. We had a bunk bed room. My girls 3 and 5 loved it. We also had a great view of the fireworks!!

This was hubbys first trip to the lodge, I had been before and he really enjoyed it. He said that if we went back and stayed on property he would want to stay there. The transportation was the best. We rarely waited for anything. We did not have an issue with mousekeeping. And the food at RF was fine.

Someone asked about a microwave and yes they do have one at the RF.

Thanks for the information! I have stayed at BC before and I didn't really like Stormalong Bay - gasp, I know! I liked their quiet pool better - go figure :)

I regret not getting the disney photographer -that is stationed in the lobby -to have a family picture taken outside on the grounds.
I did have him take one picture of my family standing on the little bridge over the water inside the lobby. But I would have loved a picture of all of us sitting on the rocking chairs that are just outside of the villas. You'll see them if you walk over there. I'll have to plan that one out on our next visit.

That is a great idea! Is that something you have to book in advance or are the photographers around the area like they are at the parks?

We are wondering this as well. We check-in Nov. 21 and leave Nov. 29.

The Christmas decorations start going up around the week of Thanksgiving. What is really neat is when you go to bed, and wake up to that huge Christmas Tree in the lobby. What a great Sight.:santa:

About the photographer in the lobby, when I asked about it, was told that they do the lobby pictures and will put them on your photopass, however if you wanted more than that there was an additional charge. With two not always cooperative ones I was not willing to pay the additional charge only to get pictures with them not looking or smiling. I believe the charge was $70 and they did a half hour session in various spots.

We are going to WL for the first time Nov 15-22. I understand there are no mickey waffles served there. DD loves them. Which quick service is the closest and approximately how long would it take to get there? The other question I have is about tipping mousekeeping. How much is typical per day?Counting the days till WL

Not sure about the QS question. I know that if you eat breakfast at Chef Mickey or Ohana they are included in the meal so hopefully someone else can help with that.

Tipping is typically 1 dollar per person per day. So for my family (4 of us) it's 4 dollars a day x 5 days so $20 total for my family. It's good to tip daily bc you might have wonderful service for a few days and then not bc that mousekeeper is on his/her weekend so it's always good to tip daily! You can involve your kids and make mousekeeping envelopes!
