Hi All!

We just returned from a 7 day stay at WL CL. I want to thank everyone for this thread. We learned a lot before we left and enjoyed our stay very much. It was our first stay at the lodge and we loved it. We booked the bounce back offer for 2010. It's our new favorite resort.

To answer your question, from our stay the 7th floor it was empty. Even the concierge said it was empty. Very few childern. Mostly older couples.

All of the club rooms are on the 7th floor in two wings. The club desk is in the middle of the hotel when you step off the elevator. Seems to me the wings are split 50-50 on each side. We were down the left hall all the way on the end. About a two minute walk, no big deal. We requested a bunk bed room and got it with a perfect view of the castle. We watched wishes from our balcony every night.

Cons...

Solid balconies. Did not like the fact you could not see over when seated.

Mousekeeping lost DD favorite stuffed animal. Must have been tossed in the laundry. Never to be seen again. I had half of the hotel searching for it. I had a backup at home. My Mom Fedex it to the hotel the next morning. We told DD Tink flew home to NY and got it then brought it back to WDW, pixie dust and all. The hotel paid for everything!

Roaring Fork. What the heck is that place? Really 6 sandwiches and burgers? The choices stunk and the place is way, way too small.

Pool did get busy in the afternoons, I'm split on this, was it too small, no. Could it be bigger, yes!

Trout bar closed too early! Hello I need a good stiff drink after chasing the mouse all day.

Pros...

Concierge staff. Hotel staff.

Loved Whispering Canyon. Never had a bad meal or server.

The special yellow KTWC. Everyone looks at you when you use it in the elevator to get to the 7th floor. Kids kept asking my DD what it was like up there. She said, magical.

Old Faithful Club, nice slection of foods and beverages. I wish it would stay open until 11 instead of 10.

Nice selection in the shop.

Any questions, just ask.

Thanks for the info! I'm glad to hear it sounds like I don't need to rush to my reservations just yet. I'm really torn between staying at the Poly for the first time (which I've always dreamed of) or staying CL at WL. DD12 loves the WL, and she would be thrilled to stay there again.......especially CL. We just stayed concierge at AKL and loved it.

Hi Everyone
I just flew back today from the WL and I really couldn't wait to log on to tell you all just how fabulous the WL resort is. We had a great great time. This place is so memorable. I don't know where to begin to tell you about my experience. I have about 250 pics to upload (don't worry, I wont do that all here.) But I will upload shots from my room as soon as I get the kids to bed and I have a moment to myself.

Everyone at the WL is wonderful. They are truly dedicated to catering to thier guests. I felt so comfortable there. I miss it so much already.

I'm ready to field any questions you might have about anything - Roaring Forks, Whispering Canyon Cafe, the mercantile, the game room, the laundry room, the pool, the movie on the beach, the Cub's Den, the ferry to MK, the bus to EPCOT.... I can't think of anything else.
But my memories are still fresh so feel free to ask me anything. :goodvibes

We will be @ WL 11/29-12/05 and planning to try for the movie on the beach on Friday 12/04, I know here in Indy the first week of Dec it starts getting dark at 5p, I am hoping that the movie will have a later start tho? SO my question to you is what time did the movie start? And really any other details about the movie would be great! Thanks!

Just got back yesterday and according to the September Recreation Activities flyer the movie starts at 8:00pm (Sept 1-15) and 7:30pm (Sept 16-30). Sorry I cannot confirm the start time for your trip. We missed the movie all 8 nights of our stay due to rain, not being home or just too tired! Also the Electrical Water Pageant comes by the WL at 9:35pm which is a must see. When you check in at WL you will receive a large folder and in it will be the Recreation Activities flyer.

I'm glad you had a great time, and got the bunkbed room that your DD wanted so badly! I totally agree with you on Roaring Fork....that's the one big negative of the WL. Fortunately, it's easy to get to the Poly and CR for better CS choices. I noticed that the pool bar closed early too, but I thought maybe that's just b/c we were there in Dec, when it was too cold to be in the pool after 5ish anyway.

We were ther in that first week of Dec. back in 2007, and the movies started between 7 & 7:30. Honestly, we didn'y see any...went over to the campfire at Fort Wilderness though, which was great!!!

Does anyone have a picture or a list of the events that take place at the resort for kids?

I'd also like to hear more about the movie on the beach. I never got to the one at the GF (when we stayed at the Poly this year) but last year at Beach Club, we went to the movie for half the nights we were there - it was a blast! At BC, they had a campfire where you could buy marshmallows or smores kits (or just toast your own) and our bag of marshmallows lasted all the nights we went. It was on the beach right behind Stormalong Bay (the main pool) so it wasn't a far walk or anything. And it was really fun to watch the movie and mellow out with a drink from the pool bar (which was nearby) and we could see the fireworks from Epcot and HS. So...did anyone go to the movie at WL and can give any details?

That's AMAZING ... not that the hotel paid for the shipping, but that you had a backup! Apparently this has happened before? :rotfl:

As for the pool bar, I agree 100% I don't drink except for rare occasions, and one of those is being on vacation in Disney. Seems like the pool bar was closed more than half of the time I saw it. If not there, where in WL can one get a margarita to go?

This afternoon, I booked the WL!!!!!! I'm so excited. My daughter had a couple of friends over and I asked them if they wanted to go and they said yes!!!

Are you sure that you want to be 15 again? I don't think that even a Disney World trip is worth that.:rotfl:

When I made the reservation, I requested an inner courtyard off the lobby on the 4th or 5th floor. Did I request the right thing for a bear face room?

Also, I've booked a courtyard view with bunk beds. Is there a room like that in the bear face section? If there isn't, please let me know because I'll change to a room w'out bunk beds. I really want to try to get a bear face room. Thanks so much!

There is a lounge inside the lobby near the entrance to Artist Point; I don't remember the name of it though.

Hi, Territory Lounge will serve any drinks in plastic cups to go. Just let them know. They are located near Artist Point. They open around 4:30pm and stay open until at least 11pm or maybe midnight if they are busy.

Don't worry, there are 3 Bear Face Bunk Bed Rooms available.

Good to know - I've never ventured up that way & will have to make a point of it during our Dec trip. A great time to roam and see the lodge lights anyway. Thank you zipuzee & TheLodgeLady :)

Good point!!! Although...If I was 15 I would have so many less stresses and responsibilities!!!

I think you have a good request as far as getting a Bear Face room! Good luck, and have fun!

Does anyone know how many sq. feet the Deluxe Room is??? I need to know if this room compares in size to 2 of the regular courtyard view rooms.

Also...Does anyone have pictures of this room?????

THANKS!!!
Angela

I'm sure this was answered somewhere but can't find it via search....are there separate parking fees for cars you bring to the resort or is that included in the room rate?

The deluxe rooms are 500 sq ft. It would be smaller than 2 rooms. That sq ft would be 680 sq ft as each room is 340 sq ft.
I don't have any pictures. There's a layout on the first page of this thread.
