It sorta looks like the fourth floor fireplace because the one on the next floor has the window behind it and lets in a lot of light....thanks for posting. I never get tired of the Lodge

You are welcome and I believe the fireplace with the windows is this one. Easier to shoot at night.:thumbsup2

I just heard from a friend who spoke to a cast member about staying at the WL in Oct. They said there was a lot of construction going on there, maybe they might select a different resort. That was news to me, we are staying there in Oct. and no one told us anything about it. Anyone know?

If the rumor of construction is true, any chance it's done by December?

Please can anyone tell me whether these rumours are true? :scared1: and if they are, will the construction be done by the end of Nov?

:sad1:

What a great thread! We are leaving WDW today, :( , but are already planning next years trip. Booked a bounce back for next year at AKL, but are seriously considering WL as well. (we have never stayed at either).

Going to spend time over the next few days reading here, and the AKL thread, and maybe switch resorts. They both look great, but the transportation options at WL are really tempting me!

Great thread, nice job everyone...

We are actually doing WDW in November, staying at Poly. We have always stayed at Poly, but we have always wondered about WL. I actually got us ressies at Whispering Canyon, and planned to wander WL to check it out...

with all the talk of bounceback offers, seriously considering for 2010...

So have any of you stayed Poly, and if so, can you tell me the pros/cons of WL compared to Poly? My family does love Poly, but we have always been curious and after looking at this thread and the photo one, Now i'm really curious :surfweb:

Just back from frist time stay at WL! Great resort, nicely themed.

I have stayed at:

POP
AS Music
AS Sports
Contemporary
Poly
WL

I still love Contemp most....but WL is so awesome. It was nice being able to boat over to MK. Even the direct bus there was nice. Bus service to the other parks were fine as well with either a stop at FW or GF after our stop. Buses on the way back were not as great but nothing to really complain about. Just seemed like more buses at other resorts. The bus location at the parks were closer to the gates so that was nice.

As for Poly or WL. I'd honestly go with Poly....there is something about being on the monorail line that is exciting, easy and fun. WL is worth a stay atleast once though!

Ranger Stan is awesome!

I Love both, for different reasons....Part of my love for the Poly, is that I remember staying there as a kid, back in the 70's so it feels the most "Disney" of ALL the resorts to me, and DH & I got married in HI, so it feels romantic to us, but those are both purely personal reasons. The Poly is great because it is on the Monorail, and IMHO, nothing beats sitting in a hammock at the Poly, gazing across the lagoon at the castle.

BUT the WL feels like it's in it's own little world, yet you are a quick boar ride away from the actuion of the MK. The 2 big plusses for us are the bunk beds (kids love them) and the price...you still have great amenities, great service, but save quite a bit. We felt like we recieved the best service, and the best mousekeeping at WL.I know mousekeepers are totally the luck of the draw, but she was so friendly when we saw her in the halls, and would talk to the kids, and would leave towel animals every day. At Christmas time, WL is a no-brainer....nothing puts you in the spirit more than that beautiful lobby. I also like the fact that it is all under one roof, and is a smaller resort.

If money were no object, I'd probably pick the Poly any other time of year, but I really feel like the WL is a better value for the $$$.

Poly is my first "love". For the same reasons as Piglets Mommy. Staying there in the 70's when it was just the Poly and CR was something special.

I now love the WL. If money were no object I would probably pick the Poly.... but the lobby of the WL can't be beat. Everything under one roof is a big plus. Bunk beds are awesome... and the price is a good deal less.

I feel the same way! Everytime we took the monorail last time we stayed at the Poly, I kept pointing out WL to my husband. I really want to try it out! Since Poly doesn't have a hot tub, my husband has requested that our next resort does and I am bummed because I do love the Poly's location but I am hoping to try WL.

I'm with you - waiting to see what the next 'offer' will be (hopefully, cross fingers, knock on wood, ....)

Thanks everyone for giving their thoughts on the two resorts!!

We're thinking of trying to book a concierge room for May 29- May 31, 2010. Do these rooms go so fast that I need to go ahead and book now? Also, I saw on the first page where the concierge lounge is on the 7th floor- are all of the CL rooms on that floor? Are there some that are super far to the elevators, or are they all pretty conveniently located? Sorry for all the questions....
Thanks,
Erin

Hello,
I am getting SO excited, first stay at VWL in 19 more days :cool1: whoo hoo

anyway, I am wondering about opinions of the 5th floor in the villas. I have a 2 BR dedicated room and have requested a room close to the elevator, on a high floor and lake or pool view. I have read that the 5th floor has a closed in balcony BUT high ceilings. I can see us sitting outside and don't know if the balcony is a big negative. Anyone have pictures of these type rooms?? Thanks for any input or pictures :goodvibes

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the great info on this thread. We are going to be staying at the WL in early December, and all the information has allowed us to plan, pick, and get really excited about the trip.

Just wanted to say that we have not ever stayed concierge, so we can't answer your question. We hope you get your answer. You are not being ignored! Someone will come forward with your information. :thumbsup2

Hi All!

We just returned from a 7 day stay at WL CL. I want to thank everyone for this thread. We learned a lot before we left and enjoyed our stay very much. It was our first stay at the lodge and we loved it. We booked the bounce back offer for 2010. It's our new favorite resort.

To answer your question, from our stay the 7th floor it was empty. Even the concierge said it was empty. Very few childern. Mostly older couples.

All of the club rooms are on the 7th floor in two wings. The club desk is in the middle of the hotel when you step off the elevator. Seems to me the wings are split 50-50 on each side. We were down the left hall all the way on the end. About a two minute walk, no big deal. We requested a bunk bed room and got it with a perfect view of the castle. We watched wishes from our balcony every night.

Cons...

Solid balconies. Did not like the fact you could not see over when seated.

Mousekeeping lost DD favorite stuffed animal. Must have been tossed in the laundry. Never to be seen again. I had half of the hotel searching for it. I had a backup at home. My Mom Fedex it to the hotel the next morning. We told DD Tink flew home to NY and got it then brought it back to WDW, pixie dust and all. The hotel paid for everything!

Roaring Fork. What the heck is that place? Really 6 sandwiches and burgers? The choices stunk and the place is way, way too small.

Pool did get busy in the afternoons, I'm split on this, was it too small, no. Could it be bigger, yes!

Trout bar closed too early! Hello I need a good stiff drink after chasing the mouse all day.

Pros...

Concierge staff. Hotel staff.

Loved Whispering Canyon. Never had a bad meal or server.

The special yellow KTWC. Everyone looks at you when you use it in the elevator to get to the 7th floor. Kids kept asking my DD what it was like up there. She said, magical.

Old Faithful Club, nice slection of foods and beverages. I wish it would stay open until 11 instead of 10.

Nice selection in the shop.

Any questions, just ask.

Thanks for the love! I was starting to wonder if I had something hanging out my nose or a B.O. issue :lmao:
