The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I have a standard view for Christmas. We probably won't be in the room much. We'll be at the parks or wandering around the resort eating! Staying at a deluxe with no discounts is pushing the budget limit so it has to be standard and I couldn't resist WL for the holidays. But just curious, how bad are standard views?

There are 39 rooms in the north wing(floors 4-6) that overlook the service area. They are basically wood view with glimpses of the monorail through the trees. They re not bad rooms but I always request a high floor so I have a better view.

There are also 10 rooms that are on the 4th floor that have views of the roofs of the merchantile and arcade. Someone said the nic part of these rooms is that they open up to the lobby and there are rocking chairs that overlook the lobby.

Many people get upgraded from standard so hopefully you will get some pixie dust.

It never hurts to call CRO and see if there is a pin or anything attached to your address. They don't look for them on their own.

I have a hard time not seeing this thread on page 1 so I'm posting to bump it up!

And to see my ticker...

And I can't wait to go to WL!!!

Booked yesterday with the 40% off pin discount (yesterday was the last day to get the discount). So excited! We've never stayed deluxe. We arrive Dec 17 and will stay until the 23rd. Hoping it's not too crowded. We'll be celebrating my b-day while there, as well. Can't wait! Now I have to start thinking about dining!

Does anyone know if you have a better chance of getting your room requests if you check in online? The only request we have is an upper floor, can you place that on your request when checking in online? Lastly, if you do not like your room location, can you ask to be moved? Thoughts and Suggestions?

Ok, I just changed our August booking with the platinum plan from AKL to WL... all of you who are WL fans, please tell me why this was a good choice.:cutie:

(I made the change when I realized the majority of our excursions are at the Contemporary, Fort Wilderness, and MK!)

Also, I need help!

We have a Backstage Magic tour @ Epcot and have to be there by 8:45 - the park doesn't open until 11 so I understand that means busses don't start running until 10? How do we get there?:confused3

Also, on another day, we have an 8:05 b'fast ressie at the castle and MK doesn't open until 9am - meaning busses start running at 8:30? How do we get to MK? Or are we better off just to switch our ressie to Whispering Canyon?

Are platinum guests given access to the concierge lounge?

I see there is a trail to FW... if we get bikes and bike to the horseback riding, how long would it take?

What is available for watercraft at WL? Is itonly for use on Bay Lake or can we also get to the FW canals?

And last but not least... the platinum plan also includes spa treatments - what's not to be missed?

Ok, one more thing... anything else at WL that we shouldn't miss?

Thank you for any help/suggestions/advice you can offer!!!

Hi,

We have our first visit from Australia to WDW coming up in August, and are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for Eight nights...

I have finished booking all our lunches and dinners at the Parks and Downtown Disney, we planned to just have breakfast at Whispering Canyon every morning before we head out for the day, is it really necessary to reserve a table for breakfast as well, or is it easy enough to just turn up... All the available times for Whispering Canyon if we reserve are after 9:00AM, and we want to be on the way to a park by then...

Any inside help would be greatly appreciated..

Do you want to have a sit-down breakfast every day? Roaring Forks offers quick service, cereals, yogurt bar, hot meals (pancakes, scrambled eggs). Check out the menu under the dining link above or at AllEars. The last time we went- you did need an ADR for tables at Whispering Canyon for breakfast, or you had to wait a while.

I'm so excited!!!! Dh surprised me yesterday when he said he'd like us to stay at WL for 2 nights before we head home from WDW this fall! I can't believe it! We're staying at CBR for most of the trip, but dh knows I've always wanted to stay at WL too. Sooo excited!! I haven't read this thread yet, but I can't wait to get started. I think we're just in a standard room. Any tips/suggestions would be great! :goodvibes

I guess we're having a month of celebrating... at the hospital right now waiting for my daughter to be delivered.

Just checking in to say hi!

Anyone heard if the hot tubs are back up?

Brian

That is exciting! Congratulations!! princess:

Can't answer all of your questions but the Character buses start running early; we caught one at 7AM last trip for breakfast at Crystal Palace

Why is this a good choice?
For us it's the boat ride to MK, FW, & CR, the boat ride to CR to catch the monorail, the bus to MK is less than 10 min, close proximity to FW, CR, Poly, GF for dining options, & even being in the middle of all of this you still have a feeling of being "away" from the hustle & bustle of DW. Two pools, three hot tubs, a relaxed atmosphere & one of the coziest lobbies in DW. :)

We were in room 5034 and had a great view of the castle and fireworks :) Of course if you looked directly to the left you saw a service entrance, but the straight-ahead view was fabulous. The rest of the family had 5032 and could not see the castle due to the way the trees grew. We just lucked out.

We were in room 5042 a couple of years ago; during the day you looked out over the smokehouse but at night you could lay in bed and see the high fireworks at the MK; we don't normally spend much time in the room but it was nice to see the fireworks a couple of nights

Thank you so much!!! One less worry!!!

We're actually considering adding on a second room-only ressie for Saturday night - maybe Club Level? - to just enjoy the resort. :)

EPCOT opens at 9 most days. The world showcase section opens at 11:00. They run buses from WL that go to the different parks early for character breakfasts. You can catch that bus or the EPCOT bus which usually starts before 8.

Keep the Castle ADR. Buses to MK start early. We caught a bus at 7:30 last time for our 8am ADR. We had plenty of time. You could also catch the Contemporary boat which starts at 6:45am and walk over to the MK from there. Nice morning walk.

Unfortunately I don't believe they do, but have not experienced this personally.

I see there is a trail to FW... if we get bikes and bike to the horseback riding, how long would it take?
I've walked the trail it only takes about 15 minutes to walk to the settlement at Ft Wilderness. I'm sure you could rent bikes and do it. Sounds fun.

What is available for watercraft at WL? Is itonly for use on Bay Lake or can we also get to the FW canals?
You can't get into the FW canals from Bay Lake.

I have not done any spa treatments so hopefully someone else can let you know about that.

If you are going to do a day at the resort, club level is a nice addition to that. We did that once and just did nothing almost all day. It was nice to have the lounge open for snacks and things all day.

Have a great trip!
