I'm hoping the decorations are up too :goodvibes. Just boooked a last minute trip for the kids and I for 4 nights courtyard view :dance3: we are so excited!

Nichole--you were able to get WL!! How exciting!! I know you had said November on FB but what are your dates?

We'll be staying at the WL Nov. 27-Dec.4! I can't WAIT!! It's our 1st time staying at WL!!

We'll be there on 11/28-12/6! It's our first time at WL! We can't wait! We are staying CL. Is there a room I should request? Not sure what the layout is of the hotel. Is there a particular room for fireworks? :goodvibes

We're putting up a string of Christmas Lights on our window during our stay at a Woods View room. Can any of you WL room experts give us an estimate of how big the window is? We want to outline the window so we need a measurement for all 4 sides. Approximate is certainly OK!!!

It is not a window, but a sliding glass door. I am not sure how you would attach the lights and still use the door.

Hmmm. It's our first time in Woods View. We were always Courtyard so we assumed we wouldn't have a balcony in WV...and thus just a window. I think we'll need an extension cord! I have those little suction cup hooks to attach to the glass and string the lights all the way around. Maybe just unplug the lights from the cord if we need to access the balcony. Sound good?

If you are in the Wilderness Lodge proper and not the villas, all rooms have the sliding glass doors. Some open to patio and others the balcony. Your view from the balcony will vary. :) I am not sure about the villas. I would think the larger one/two bedrooms would have windows and sliding doors, but I've never stayed there.

Happy vacation!!

My girlfriend and I wanted to stay here for our first trip to Disney in January together, but it would've been a little too much for us to handle right now, but I do hope we stay here next time we go

I want to definitely go and get a chance to check out the lobby and stuff because it looks REALLY up my alley as a place to be.

We stayed CL at WL the 4th of July week. It was awesome. :cool1: We have stayed at WL before but this was our first time CL. We were very spoiled and we all said we would only stay WL CL for now on. When I put in my room request I asked for courtyard view in the Southern wing. If you are looking at the WL from the courtyard, pool area - we were in the wing on the left. WL is shaped like a U. The pool, courtyard and lake are in the middle part of the U. Our room was fantastic. We were around the corner from the elevators and lounge - but not right next to them. We were able to see the lake, pool and fireworks from our balcony. I would request the same view again. We are going in April and Thanksgiving 2011 and both stays will be WL CL.
Let me know if you have any questions!!
Have fun!

Thanks Debbie! Can I ask for a room request when checking in online? Or do I need to call Disney directly? Never asked for a specific room before. I just ask for Southern wing?

If you booked with Disney I would call them and ask to have your room request added to your reservation. I booked through AAA so I just told my TA and she added it to the reservation. I think my room request is somewhere on this thread or on the CL thread - I got advice from the knowledgeable people here. I will look back and see if I can find it then post what I requested. I didn't ask for a specific room - just the location. We got to WL around noon and they told us the room they blocked off for us wasn't ready - it was still being cleaned. So the concierge cast member took us up to the 7th level and told us we could pick any of the open rooms - he started opening up clean rooms and letting us walk in to look. However, all the rooms he was showing us where on the opposite side of the hall - the view would have been of the woods/villas. I wanted courtyard. While we were doing this the room they originally blocked off for us came up done so the Club Level CM came and got us and took us to that room. It was exactly what we wanted. The CL CM's are awesome, they really work hard to meet all your requests!
I also didn't do the online check in...a lot of people suggested not to do it with a CL room.
Hope this helps!

I looked back through the posts but couldn't find the post I was thinking of...Anyway - I think I requested the south wing courtyard view close to the lounge. If you go further down that hallway, the rooms that are closer to the water may have a better view. I saw a post from back in April where someone said they were all the way down and was able to see the castle and the fireworks. I wanted the convience of being near the lounge!

Preparing for our upcoming vacation next month. We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time and I'm so excited!

Just have a question I'm hoping somebody can help me with......is there a gift shop in Wilderness Lodge and if so, do you know if they sell lanyards? I was hoping to have one with me the first morning we arrive to put my son's GAC card in and it would be helpful if I could pick it up when we check in, before we head over to our first park.

Thanks!

thanks Debbie! I was going to do online check in, but I won't worry about that now. I'm like you, I would rather be near the lounge! I need my coffee in the morning! I'm going to call today and add the room request to my ressie! Thanks so much for your help! :goodvibes

There is a pin lanyard cart in the back of the lobby area and there is a big gift shop right off the check-in desk. Both have lanyards!
Have fun!

time is marching on, vacation getting closer and closer
starts 11/17
4 nights OKW
3 nights VWL
2 nights Dolphon

:cheer2:

I was mapping out directions to the WL and I noticed a road that goes directly from the WL to Fort Wilderness. It is called W. Wilderness Rd. Are you allowed to drive over to FW on this road? The last time we ate at HDDR we had to park outside the FW entance and tale a bus back to Pioneer Hall. This road looks like it goes over by Pioneer Hall.

NO you can't use this road, it is a cast member only road. There is a jogging path, Bus and Boat that you can take there. If you went to the front of Ft W. you would have to take a bus anyway and it would most likely take longer than catching the bus right from WL.

Hope that helps!

Brian

Any word on decorations being up in WL yet? Hoping someone has heard or seen anything.

We are at WL now and there are no Christmas decorations up yet. I can only hope that they go up before Saturday, when we have to go home!
