I am so sorry for your loss:hug: I hope you and your family have a magical time, and I am sure your mom will be watching over all of you and sharing in your joy. This is our first trip to Disney, but I am sure that you could find something, big or small, to perhaps do in her honor. Maybe make a special wish at a wishing fountain?

I love looking at all the pictures as well! We aren't going until April, so make sure and take lots of pictures to bring back here :)

My Dad and I travelled to Disneyworld the Christmas after my Mom passed in 1989. Dad passed this past Summer. We are here now and it is very theraputic. Getting to share this pl e with our 5 yr old for the first time and remembering my time back in 72 with both my parents is bittersweet but also comforting. I am sorry for you loss and wish you well --->

Thank you both! I appreciate all the wonderful posters on Dis. :goodvibes

While a part of me is not really looking forward to the trip a bigger part of me remembers the wonderful times there with my mom and I'm looking forward to going back and seeing her face in my mind with a large grin that was only reserved for Disney. :) This was one place that I knew for sure that my mom was truly happy.

Learning that others have traveled after losing a loved one and finding that it was therapeutic is giving me hope. My mom was not only my one and only parent, but she was also my friend. I plan on going back to Disney with an open mind and open heart. :goodvibes

Thank you all again. And as far as honoring my mom, you bet! My mom "claimed" the terra cotta army in the China pavilion in the World Showcase. If they are still there, I'll take a picture for her. :rotfl: And I will definitely take pictures of the WL to share with you all.

Hello everyone,
I am currently booked at the WL in a woods view room for our upcoming trip. I am thinking of switching to a studio room in the villas but I cant seem to find any recent pics, can anyone help? I checked on allears but the photos seem really dated.

HunnyJar - So sorry for your loss. I hope you have a wonderful trip, and are able to remember all the wonderful times you had with your mom.

WooHoo - Just booked our 1st stay at the WL!! I'm so excited!! From all the pictures, I think this might end up being our favorite yet (we've stayed at Contemporary and the Poly). I can't wait until April gets here!

 I love these boards.

We had a standard view booked for 8/1 to 8/14. Now with the extension of the %off rates until 8/14 [instead of 6/2] we were able to upgrade and still save $$.

We now have Courtyard with Bunk Beds booked for our vacation.

We were blessed with an upgrade in 2006 to Courtyard w/bunk beds and in 2008 we paid for the courtyard and were given the EXACT same room with bunk beds.

I'm so glad we will have the bunk beds again with boys. :)

Where did you find they extended the % off until August? I'm booked for the 15th and would change if the price is right.

Thanks

How sweet! I just saved $1231.00 by changing our trip.

We were staying WL/CL Aug 9-14.
Changedd to WL/CL Aug 8-14 gained an extra night too!

Who's your Disney Mommy?!?!?

What's the surest way to secure a cab? Are they usually found waiting out front or should you call for one? If calling, what amount of lead time would you give them before expecting them out front?

We always called the cab company and they were there within' 5-10 minutes waiting for us. I am not sure if there are always cabs waiting since we only used the front door when we called specifically for a cab. Ask the front desk for the cab company name when you check in.

Hi everyone! We are planning to spend this Thanksgiving at WDW and I have my heart set on Wilderness Lodge. I have spent the better part of this morning comparing packages, and I believe that staying in a deluxe room on the club level, with the dining package, will be a good fit for us. We were going to do Treehouse Villas at SSR, with deluxe dining, but I really want to do WL. We will be DH and I, our 2 daughters (15 and 9) and my mother-in-law. I tried to get into the Villas, but they said they were already booked.

Here is my question - does anyone know how comfortable (or uncomfortable) the sofa bed is? I'm trying to decide if we should try to book the adjoining room or not. I'm thinking we probably will have to..any suggestions?

Hi, all ~ was reading through all the info on the first page and wondering if anyone knows of a map (or other info) with HC VWL Studio room locations?

Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Hi! I stayed at the WL in January 2010 and fell in love with it!!! We are planning a trip back in December 2010. Our standard room, while just fine inside, was on top of the restaurant loading area and the trucks were in and out all night. Luckily, I brought a sound machine so it was not too bad. But, we are trying to avoid this next time.

I have heard that the lodge has very few Standards that overlook the lobby. Is this true and does anyone have specific room numbers to request? TIA :goodvibes

As I posted in another thread, we originally booked a May trip to CBR, but have recently decided that we think we want to upgrade to WL with our 40% pin! We're thinking we'd just go standard room - from reading this thread, it seems like the way to go with that is request an upper room (5 or 6) in the North Area, with the hope that you might catch a glimpse of some fireworks from your balcony. Also, seems that being on the higher floors protects against any potential sound worries. Can someone speak to if this is correct? Going to call this weekend to make my change and just want to be informed to make a good request!!

Thanks everyone - this is an awesome thread with tons of info. Definitely helped sway us to "upgrade"!

I can't speak for all the resorts; we have only stayed at the YC and WL. Both of these resorts always had a cab or two sitting outside. I would check with the front desk when checking in. With all the cabs zipping around WDW, I couldn't imagine it would be a long wait for a cab if a call was placed.

Hi all! Okay I have two questions that might seem silly, but where better to ask then here with the experts! We are staying at WL in August, and have never been there before. So two questions:

1. Where in WL can the refillable mugs be refilled? And what are the hours for the locations?

2. Is Humphrey the bear a stand alone carved bear or is he the bottom bear on the Disney character totem pole that we have seen in pictures posted here? :confused3 We fully intend to stand by tradition and rub his nose when we get there!

Thanks in advance!

1-Roaring Forks for sure. Don't know about the outside location by the pool. Don't know the hours, but it was always open when I went down at 7 am.

2-Bottom of totem pole.

Thanks for the drink information.

Thanks for identifying Humphrey! I didn't want to look silly trying to find him, and since telling my kids about him from this thread, they are both looking forward to making some magic.

Not sure if the current mugs will be the same, but when we went in 2008, it was really difficult to get rid of the coffee taste/smell in the mugs. We thankfully kept using the same two for the coffee and the kids used theirs for the other kinds. Poweraid and coffee just don't mix. This time we will only use the one mug. DH can go get his own after I finish. :rotfl2:

It was been several years since we have stayed in a Deluxe Room, at that time the sofa beds were fine. The rooms were refurbished a few years ago, with new sofas. If you want you could book the adjoining room but I think it would be a unnesessary expense. You would be paying for accommodations for 10 guest.(Six guest in the deluxeroom, four in the adjoinging room) :confused3

I always try too book standard view room as my first choice, after staying in every room from standard to concierge I enjoy any room at the Lodge so views aren't that important to me. When I book a Standard View I request North Wing, 6th floor, near the elevator.

I have been on my balcony and heard the delivery trucks. (only the beeping sound while the trucks were in reverse) While in my room with the door closed I didn't hear any external noise coming from the loading docks. The views of the fireworks and the castle at night more than make up for the beeping.
