The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of deluxe rooms at WL. We are thinking about booking a deluxe with a 2queen or king connecting room. The two bedroom villas would be about $1000 less, but I'd love to do club level.

UGH....decisions decisions decisions.
I, too was unable to find any photos a couple of weeks ago so I PM'ed someone who had posted that they had stayed in one. Unfortunately, she didn't have any photos. I tried to switch from a regular WL/CL room to a Deluxe room, but it wasn't bookable with the military discount so I switched to a BC Deluxe room.

I can tell you that they are about 500 sq. ft. Vs. 340 sq. ft. for a regular CL room and they are not located on the 7th (CL) floor.

Here is a little info:

Junior Suites (Deluxe rooms) provide 500 square feet and two rooms: a kitchen/living room with a pull-out couch, wet bar, table and chairs, and mini refrigerator; and a bedroom with two queen beds. The rooms are separated by french doors.

Thanks for the update. I am off to try and find some pics. I am trying to decide between the two. Although I have loads of time as we aren't going until July 2012.

Hope you finished your midterm. I am anxious to hear if you had a Courtyard View room off the lobby and what you think of that location.

I love Artist Point and hope you have a wonderful dinner there.

I've got a week before we check in at WL.

I 'yahooed' the query a while back when I was debating between a villa or a deluxe room and was able to find some photos. (I don't 'google' :lmao:). So try looking for 'deluxe room' or 'junior suite' at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and you should find some!

Thanks so much I found them on another discussion board after "yahooing"! They look just like the layout and exactly what I want!

So excited, I was able to get the upgrade to CL for my May reservation using the spring room discount. I'm guessing that we probably will end up cancelling some of our breakfast adr's and just eat a light breakfast at the hotel club lounge, and looking forward to the afternoon & evening selections too. We aren't on the ddp this trip, anyway, but will still be using a number of adr's too, though this will likely cut down on the desserts etc that we pay for so will probably end up being LESS expensive than regular room and buying desserts/breakfasts, etc.

We have Standard CL booked for Labor Day weekend with a bounceback rate.

2 Adults & 2 kids.

We saw the pictures of the 7th floor balconies and since this is a resort only weekend, ugh! We wanna be able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view!!

So, I emailed IPO with my concerns and asked if we could have a 6th floor room, at CL rates, with CL access.

No. :(

They suggested Deluxe CL room - however there are none available with our rate - apparently they usually are not included in the bounceback rate. :(

New suggestion was ask at checkin if we can keep our CL rate/access but have a room on 6th floor.

Has anyone ever done this and had any luck?

Our other issue is kids are 16yo boy & 11yo girl and would probably both sleep on the floor before sharing a bed so we have a bunkbed request.

Suggestions?:confused3

I must admit, when we stay CL at WL I hate the balonies on the 7th floor. We always get the same room (luck of the draw) with a castle view which is awesome, but the balcony feels like a black hole.

Thank you so much! Exactly what I want....and your family is lovely! I can't wait for this trip...we decided to go to Montreal this summer but as you can see I am already planning for our summer of 2012 trip. My whole family thinks I am off the wall (more than ususal!)

You're welcome, and while that family is lovely, they're not my photos (or my family)!

You're not off the wall. You can never plan too far in advance for a WDW vacation;).

Hi everyone! We just upgraded to WL for June 26th-July 2nd! I'm so very excited to be staying here for the first time...Now to go back and the read the previous pages or go to to the photo thread. :coffee:

Has anyone stayed in the Honeymoon Suite? DH and I booked that for a one night reservation in May! We were going to stay at Boardwalk but we got a better rate at WL and our DVC points reservation starts the following day at the WL, so we figured it would be easier and cheaper :)

So if anyone has stayed there before I would love a review or pictures.

P.S. DH and I have been married for 3 years now, so no it's not our honeymoon but we are going to be celebrating my college graduation and our new house we just bought. We didn't get to celebrate our anniversary this past year, so it'll be a celebration for that too.

Anyone there now or been there recently know if the gift shop is still selling resort specific merchandise. I know WDW as a whole is moving away from this, but I wondered if this resort still had some.

Our next trip will be our first time staying at WL.....and on CL! I'm really excited but I still have a couple of questions.
1. One day we have a 7am ADR @ Chef Mickey's. What will be the best way for us to get there? I understand the boat that goes to CR doesn't begin running until 645am, so that would probably be no good. So, should we do one of the early morning character breakfast buses or do a cab? Would the bus take us to CR or just to MK? Also, can we even take a cab if we have a 3yr old, since we wouldn't have a car seat? Don't mean to sound ignorant, I've just never done cabs with a little person along for the ride.

2. The night we arrive, we have a 5:40pm ADR @ Kona Cafe. I figured we would take the boat to MK. From MK, would it be best to take the monorail to Poly or a boat? Also, about what time should we leave WL to make our 5:40 ADR?

3. This is the 1st time that we will be going in the spring. We normally go in Nov or Dec. We will be there April 30th - May 5th. For anyone who has gone around this time, how are the crowds?

Thanks so much for any advice/input! I am beyond excited for our 1st WL/CL stay. I'm even more excited for it than our cruise on the Dream! :cool1:

As of Feb. 2011 they had some. I got a wilderness lodge hoodie sweatshirt. They had t's, polos, magnets, mugs, stationary and of course the Mickey totem pole for sale.

In December they had WL sweat jackets, sweatpants, mugs, photo holders, magnets, hats and key chains.

It seems the WL and the Poly have the most resort specific merchandise while the other resorts have little to none. The CR, for example has none. When I asked the BVG store mgr. about this, she said they'd love to have some and keep asking for it, but they never get any.

We were there late November (last yr) and all the Christmas/Holiday things were out in the WL gift shop - there was a few things with WL logo. :) Other items did not have WL logo, but represented the rustic sort of cabin decor. Hope this helps! :)

How are the paths around WL for running? I heard there is a path between FW and WL. How long is it? My son runs Track and it would be nice if he could run while we are there. I thought I would rent a bike and go with him. He runs distance so it is the only way I can keep up to him.

The path from WL through FTW is great. It's paved and has a great "woods view." The path starts near the bus stop at WL and continues across a street to FTW. You can continue on foot or on bike all the way through FTW on their sidewalks, but you will have to cross one or two streets to continue on them.

The bike barn and the front desk have a map you can take with you.
