The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

So I'll be lurking over this thread and devouring any info I can get my hands on about the resort. I can't wait to go back and enjoy everything there is to offer.

So again, Hi Everyone!

Welcome. I hope we can provide the info you need!

The food at Whispering Canyon is fine, nothing special. I always laugh when people post that food at any Disney restaurant was "inedible". We've been eating at Disney for many years and that is just ridiculous.

The worst of Disney dining is on par with chain restaurants (Fridays, Applebees, etc.), which is obviously fine if that's what you're looking for on that particular day. I'd put Whispering Canyon in that category, as far as food goes. It's a fun place though.

The best of Disney dining can be quite good - you'll even find some very refined dishes on some menus if you look past the obligatory steak or mahi-mahi dish, which every restaurant seems to have. Artist Point is definitely one of these places.

Anyway, have fun at Whispering Canyon. I promise you won't gag! :-)

Thanks! I don't mind the chain restaurant type food :) I do have ADRs for both restaurants so we'll see which one wins out - DH will be the final decision maker since I eat like four bites of food and them I'm done :)

Taking notes for my december trip. :-) My little princess be 9 months by then. :woohoo:

How is that little Princess doing? Is she about 3 weeks old already? Made me smile when I read one of your posts where you wrote "the family". :goodvibes

Bet it won't be easy leaving for the conference...and not even checking in to WL first. :sad2: At least you'll be there for a couple of nights after the conference.:thumbsup2

She is 2 1/2 weeks... still mixing up days and nights. :rotfl: Getting her on a feeding schedule helped a lot. I'm actually looking forward to the conference so I can get some sleep. I'm just afraid I'll miss something, or she'll grow a lot next week:scared1:.

Can anyone tell me about the noise levels in the Courtyard view rooms off the lobby. I think that would be an excellent view to request, but wonder if the Lobby noise is too much.

Thanks

She will look so different when you get back! They grow and change so quickly, but you have lots of exciting weeks to come when you'll be there for all the "firsts". These little ones change our lives in an instant - nothing is ever the same again. (When you do get back your wife will need sleep, so it will be nice one of you could get caught up! ;))

Hope you have a great week - maybe CSR will be a nice surprise.:goodvibes Will you go to the parks after the conference in the evenings? :woohoo:

Hi everyone! We just paid off our trip yesterday and have about 45 days till we're at WL for the very first time! :cool1:

I booked a courtyard view with a 35% off pin code and got an awesome deal. I'm so excited and can't wait to see the beautiful lodge in person! :cloud9:

She will mix up her days/nights for a while...but she will learn to sleep at night and so won't you!

You will be amazed at how much she will grow in the week you are gone!!! However, the rest you get will be so helpful to your system! Enjoy those precious infant days...they fly by!

I have an AP, so I can pick and choose. Since work is paying for meals, I'm trying a couple restaurants I have not tried before. Artist's Point is one of them :cool1:

I'm hoping CSR is a nice surprise, but I know my heart will always be at WL! ;)

I requested one for the first time next week so...Fingers Crossed!!!

I've heard that the noise is not really an issue from the lobby. I know I've sat in the lobby and studied for my classes and really was not bothered by the noise.

I had more issues with the noise from the pool in a room down the end of the south wing. But that was just during a nap in the afternoon.

I'm enjoying every minute I get to see her! I know this week is going to be hard. But I'm planning on making the best of it.

This is one of those times when an AP is priceless!!

Artist's Point - nice! :cheer2:

Can we expect any live updates? :surfweb: :) (I'd not be looking forward to CSR either....one of the resorts where we'd least want to stay...and AS...in 30 yrs of visits, we've stayed everywhere else numerous times). Now that WL, esp. the Villas, is now one of my faves, I can certainly understand how much you're looking forward to the Conference ending and moving over there. :teeth: Fingers crossed for an upgrade! :goodvibes (hoping one to day to get lucky and stay in one of the CY rooms with the full lake view).

Are you freaking kidding me?! We leave TODAY for Disney and WL and I have done something to my lower back? I had to roll out of bed?! No! No! No!

Oh, no!! Hoping it was just the way you slept and it will be better once you're up and about. :goodvibes (In November I had to unexpectedly rent a wheelchair after our first day! Still had a great time, so try not to worry and a bad back at WDW is better than being stuck at home!:thumbsup2).

Oh no! I hope it is just stiff and you can work the kinks out quickly!
Have a wonderful trip! :wizard:

10 days for us until our first stay at WL!!:banana:
(I attempted to use online check-in for the first time... added the requested info fairly quickly, but when I clicked "submit" I got a screen that said my session timed out :confused3 Will wait and see if I get a confirmation, and if not, try again later/tomorrow)

We arrive at WL on the same day. I am going to try online check-in later today. ::cool1:

Got a midterm to finish first. :scared1:

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of deluxe rooms at WL. We are thinking about booking a deluxe with a 2queen or king connecting room. The two bedroom villas would be about $1000 less, but I'd love to do club level.

UGH....decisions decisions decisions.

Brian

Hope you finished your midterm. I am anxious to hear if you had a Courtyard View room off the lobby and what you think of that location.

I love Artist Point and hope you have a wonderful dinner there.
