The Whimsical Spirit of the Conch Republic - a June TR - Day 4-Part 3 updated 7/17

That whole Highland Games setup looks amazing. I wish it would still be around when I go! I think they're taking it down mid-July though. :(

Have yall seen Brave yet? I LOVED IT.

Bummer that they are taking it down.

Yes, we saw it and loved it. Merida's hair was so amazing. I just loved how it had a life of its own.

I know my response to your response to this question will be, "oh too bad. We'll be there the week before/after you," but I'll ask anyway...when in Sept. are you going?

We are going Sept 7- 14 ...........fingers crossed on your answer .......

I just love it when they add the special touches. I mean, obviously they are plugging the movie, but wow....they really make it fun for the kids (and us big kids too):thumbsup2

We really loved this little extra. The CM's were so friendly and excited about it. Very enjoyable experience.

Day 2 – Part FOUR

We were finished just in time for our lunch ADR for:

DSC03503.jpg

We checked in right at 11:30 AM and the lobby was crowded. The CM’s came out to sing and after a short while we were all seated.

DSC03504.jpg

I love this little cabin. Do you think they would let me live there ?? These gardens are just beautiful.

We were seated and ordered drinks. And then the wonderful pretzel bread
came (angels singing)

DSC03516.jpg

DH ordered that famous

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - Made with Moosehead Beer and Bacon Cup $5.49 Bowl $6.99

DSC03515.jpg

I ordered a cup.

This is the best soup ever !! We used the pretzel bread to sop it up. There wasn’t a morsel left. Not even a tiny smackerel .

Our super picky DD ordered plain noodles with cheese.

DSC03517.jpg

Sigh …..

DS ordered the burger

Le Cellier House Burger - roasted mushrooms, smoked bacon, maple barbecue, Black Diamond Cheddar, and crispy onions, and french fries $14.99
Just beef, bun and cheese
.
DSC03518.jpg

Those fries were sooo good. Not as big as steak fries, but bigger than the shoestrings fries. Crispy on the outside, but nice fluffy on the inside. Perfect …..

DH and I split the Mushroom Filet

DSC03519.jpg

This was amazing. You could cut the filet with your fork. And the risotto was good, not as salty as some people have described, but it was salty. Not unedible though. Loved the mushrooms, too. We very much enjoyed this entrée.

For dessert. DS ordered a sundae

DSC03522.jpg

I got a chocolate martini. Because well … it seemed good at the time.

DSC03521.jpg

DSC03520.jpg

And it was. Delicious !!

DD got the Chocolate Moose

DSC03523.jpg

DH got some chocolate brownie cheesecake thing that was very tasty.

DSC03524.jpg

This meal was one of the favorites of our trip.

DSC03525.jpg

When we were done, the kids wanted to go back over and do the Brave exhibit again. It is all they talked about during lunch.

That mushroom filet is good. We haven't been to Le Cellier in several years. Need to make a point to go back there.

It was super yummy. I want some of soup and pretzel bread right now !!!

Day Two – Part FIVE

The kids wanted to the Brave thing again, so I settled the check while DH took them over.

I met them back at World Showcase and we commenced to touring the countries. Obviously, Canada would be our first one.

DSC03536.jpg

I let everyone know that one my biggest priorities was seeing the movies in the countries that I haven't seen yet. Specifically, O'Canada, Impressions d' France, american Adventure and China. So first up was O Canada.

O Canada! is an 18-minute, 360-degree film that captures the country's grandeur at the Canada Pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot theme park.
Discover the beauty of a great land with the sweeping sights and spectacular sounds of this Circle-Vision 360°-filmed presentation. You are in the center of the action, surrounded by the stunning variety of America's neighbor to the north, from its wide open spaces abundant with wildlife to its sparkling cities and harbors to its magnificent mountains and shores.

Canadian native Martin Short narrates this film homage to the country well known and celebrated for its hockey, an iconic horse-mounted police force and some of the best-loved comedians and actors in modern years.

And I have to say, I was so pleasantly surprised. The 360° was amazing and the scenery was simply beautiful. We all very much enjoyed this movie. DS said, “that movie makes me want to go there.” And it really did.

Then we moved on to the UK.

I LOVE that Yellow Submarine stuff! Do you remember the Yellow Submarine animated show from back in the day? I booked a trip for this upcoming weekend for us last night. I'm hoping there will be some Olympic and/or Queen's Jubilee stuff at the UK pavilion left. Not holding my breath though.

We love O Canada also. It is a really well done movie. And just think, if you went on the AK cruise, you'd get to visit Vancouver. ;)

We saw the one in France last October, and a couple sitting behind us had a discussion for a good five minutes over why they were starting the movie in Cabo San Lucas. It was hilarious. I wanted to turn around and point out that unlike the Cabo arch, the arch we were looking at on screen was white. It does bear an uncanny resemblance to the Cabo arch outside of the color though.

Isn't that garden at the back of the UK pavilion so peaceful. I really want to go hear the band that performs back there one day. We've just heard them in passing.

Jealous about your last minute trip !!! And since it is 106 here with a heat index of 118 ......and only 92 at Disney right now, I would much rather be there.

I do rememeber that animation of the yellow submarine.

I would love to do the AK cruise. But the Western Caribbean is $3000 cheaper and that is without airfare. It is just too much for us right now.

We didn't get to see the France one. The movie wasn't working when we went. Next time. When have you been to Cabo ????

I do love that garden. It can be quite peaceful back there.

Your meal at Le Cellier looks great! I think a chocolate martini sounds like the perfect dessert! :thumbsup2

I love all of the little shops in the UK pavilion - the Yellow Submarine items are so cute! :goodvibes

I was tempted to buy the ice cube tray ......

Yeah, the "change" in the departure port to Vancouver has really messed with my plan. The airfare increases significantly. I tried seeing if I could do it cheaper by flying to Vancouver from Los Angeles. That flight is almost as expensive as flying from Atlanta. Crazy! With all the entertainment work that occurs in Vancouver, you'd think you could find a pretty cheap flight. I'm thinking about going in 2014 instead. My mom is may be doing one of those western train tours next summer with a little travel club in her town anyway. Oh well, we'll see what kind of deals come along and make a decision. I really wanted to go to Disneyland and the increase in airfare has pretty much made that impossible. :(

Lisa and Roger have been to Cabo. I saw pics they took of the arch there.

Better luck next time with the France movie.

I want to go to Disneyland, too. And since they've been showing the Cars Land commercials on the Disney channel, DD says she really wants to go.. The one plus about going to Disneyland is that we can use DVC. I'll have to check on how many points the 2br units are. Maybe we can all go.

The air fare is killing us on the AK trip, too. Especially since we have 4 to buy and not just two.

The Brave thing looked like fun !:thumbsup2

It's those little fun breaks in the day that makes the trips extra special. My guys love it when we come across little games and such. One time they spent a half hour playing hop scotch ! :goodvibes

I agree. It IS the little things that definitely make it special. That is why Disney is da bomb !!
