The Whimsical Spirit of the Conch Republic - a June TR - Day 4-Part 3 updated 7/17

We've never been to one of the water parks, but they look like fun!

It's so fun when you notice new details about the parks, isn't it? I love when that happens! :goodvibes

The waterparks are fun, but they are more fun with kids. So I suggest you wait until you and Wing nut have some little ones :)

I notice something new every time. That is one the things that makes Disney so great.

Day 3- Part THREE

Next we rode the Peoplemover or in my house “the blue train”.

DSC03682.jpg

I love the blue train. Such a nice leisurely ride through Tomorrowland. You see all of the sights. I love it. Did I say that ? Well …. I do.

I know they are crappy photos, but I thought someone might be interested in seeing them.

DD wanted to ride the Tea Cups, so we headed over there

DSC03697.jpg

The line was pretty long, so we said we would try it later.

So we headed back to see what kind of line the Barnstormer had.

What are these tents going to be ?? I need to check the Fantasyland thread and check.

Some more “over the wall” photos. The Mermaid ride is coming along.

Joining in & all caught up!

I'm really enjoying your TR & all of the great pictures. Sounds like y'all already had some fantastic ADRs!

And I must say that I'm really enjoying the pics of OKW. I was especially excited to see that y'all had stayed in a studio, since that is what we're staying in this fall. Okay, let me ask you a question about OKW. Do we need to request a certain location? It's just the 3 of us (me, DH & our 4 year old DS). We are commando park people, so we probably won't do pool time on our park days. We leave early every morning for Rope Drop and leave as soon as whatever park we're in closes. We don't do any evening EMH's. We will mainly utilize the buses but will have our car if need be. Based on that, is there any location(s) requests you think I should make?

And how are the buses at OKW? Do they take a very long time to get to the parks? Even though we're driving, I still plan on mainly using the buses. And one morning we'll need to take a cab to Poly.

Thanks for your help! And I can't wait to hear more about y'alls trip! :goodvibes

YAY !! Thanks so much for reading and stopping to say hello !!

On our first OKW trip, we stayed waaayyyy in the back in an area called South Point. Building 54, I think. It was way back in there, but very quiet. This trip we stayed in building 17 which was near the front of the resort. Here is a link to the map.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...aType/Resorts/OldKeyWest/old-key-west-map.pdf

Since we only live 7 hours away, we always drive and have our car with us so neither place felt inconvenient. If you would like to be close to the CS restaurant and the gift shop, then I would suggest buildings 11, 12, 13, 14, 62 and 63. Those are all great locations and within an easy walking distance if you will not have a car.

We only took the bus once to Magic Kingdom and since we stayed to watch fireworks the bus was very crowded on the way back and you drop off at all bus stops throughout the resort, so don't get on the bus needing to use the bathroom. But we expected that and it didn't bother us. We drove everywhere else and it was fine.

Thank you so much for the link to that map! I have to call to add our dining plan & will probably put in a room request when I do that. I'm thinking of asking for as close as possible to the main building and on the 1st floor.

I wish our drive was only 7 hours! We'll see how it goes driving. Hopefully, it won't be too bad. I forgot to say one thing earlier - saw that y'all are in South Caroline - my DH & I lived in South Carolina (in the Greenville area) for about 4 years. Also remembered you mentioning that y'all are Gamecocks fans. My DH went to Georgia Tech but I went to LSU. So, I'm a die-hard Tiger fan (so is my little boy & it's DH's #2 team). Looks like the Gamecocks get to come down to Tiger Stadium in October for some football!

Where we will lose, I am sure. The SEC is a super tough conference !!

We are in the Lexington area right outside of Columbia.

Your view will be better if you are on one of the upper floors if that is important to you. We were on the bottom floor the first time and we have a nice view of the bushes. But if that doesn't matter to you, then the bottom floor is good for hauling stuff since there isn't an elevator.

The DVC board has a thread with info and photos. Here's the link:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1375743

It starts in 2007, so I would start from the last page and go backward to get the most current stuff. It is a huge thread. And those people can definitely answer any questions about the buses you might have.

Looks like yall had a lot of fun at the water park. I would love to try them both out someday!

WOW, Space Mountain looks crazy with the lights on! Thank God it's a dark ride or people might get freaked out! (By people, clearly I mean myself.)

You really should try them, they are A-MAZ-ING !!!!

I thought that was super cool, too. It was the only time where I thought the Peoplemover was moving too fast :rotfl::rotfl2: I couldn't get enough photos !!

I see that we are Twitter friends now - YAY !! Not that I post that much, but maybe I will now since I am following more peeps.

"Paging Mr. Morrow. Mr. Tom Morrow..." OH how I love the TTC!!!! :lovestruc Seriously one of my favorite Disney rides!!

It is ours, too !! We have to ride every time we go. And I am glad they brought at least part of the spiel back. I just love it !!:lovestruc

Who knows...y'all may come into Tiger Stadium & stomp us. But, I sure hope not! :lmao:

I know where Lexington is! Such a small world.....

Thank you for all of your OKW help. I really appreciate it. I'd rather have the nice view on a higher floor but I'm worried about not having an elevator. Guess I'll ask my DH what he'd prefer. After all, he'll be the one carrying the luggage & our son if he's asleep up the stairs. :rotfl:

What are these tents going to be ?? I need to check the Fantasyland thread and check.

The tents at Dumbo? That is the tent for the new "queue". Very cool! If it hasn't happened already, I'm sure there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth by children who do not want to leave the waiting area to go ride Dumbo. Can't say as I blame them.

Or are you talking about the refitted tents from Toontown? I think one of them is supposed to be, shocker, a gift shop. Not sure about the other...maybe a meet and greet area. Wait..that seems vaguely familiar. Hmmmm...

DD loves BB too. I prefer TL- if I must go to a waterpark that is. Not a fan of them in general. Now if they'd let me do that zip line thing, I'd be all for BB. We met some lovely people whilst sharing a "toboggan" on Teamboat Springs. It was couple from Germany who, like us, had schlepped up all those stairs only to find out that you had to have four in your tube/raft/toboggan thingy. Happily we all met up at the top, and had a lovely time swooshing down the watery slopes of Mount Gushmore.

I love me some Peoplemover. Actually we have adopted your "blue train" name around here. You might want to think about copyrighting that..charging royalties and licenses fees. You can use the money to buy your home and Golden Oaks. Aaaannyyway- such a relaxing ride! As long as it doesn't break down on you that is. We've been on it when Space was down and all the lights were on. People were still on the ride. I can't imagine having to walk down that one! The Peoplemover was bad enough.

I hope we will find out the DD got to ride the teacup later on during the trip. I missed out on the teacups this last go around. I have a hole in my heart from it. Tear.

The tents I am talking about are way across from Dumbo, so I think you are right about the gift shop and meet and greet.

I have to say that I am not a huge fan of the water parks either, but that is because I am so old and fat. If I were in better shape, I might enjoy them more. But the kids like them and they are fun to watch, so we will go. My kids like BB better, but I prefer TL as well. I just like the theming better and the water coasters are big fun !!

I love the blue train, too. We HAVE to ride it every time we go. I think it would be cool to be evacuated from a ride. You know, see some behind the scenes stuff.

You know I am not a tea cup fan, but I love that you are so that my kids can ride with you :rotfl::rotfl2:

Day 3 – Part FOUR

The splash area was open and let me tell you, that is a serious splash pad.

Water was everywhere.

A note to parents. If you think your kid can’t resist this, bring a change of clothes. Some of those people were SOAKED. It did look like a fun way to cool off on a hot day though.

The line for the Barnstormer was about 20 minutes and DD really wanted to ride, so we hopped in line.

One of favorite photos .... EVER !!! And really, isn't THIS why we go to Disney in the first place ?? To see the joy on our children's faces ??

I have really enjoyed reading your trip report... I noticed ya'll have on South Carolina shirts.. We are from SC too. We are in Prosperity. Where are ya'll? We are going to Disney in September!

Love the update! So many great pictures!

I can't wait to see Storybook Circus. It just looks so cute!

Funny you talk about the splash area. In my last update on my PTR, I was talking about how I will need to distract my 4 year old from that area. :lmao: I can definitely see a meltdown happening right about then. But, I plan to bribe him with promises of riding race cars & Buzz Lightyear. Let's hope it works! :rotfl2:
