The Whimsical Spirit of the Conch Republic - a June TR - Day 4-Part 3 updated 7/17

Le Cellier ahhhhhhh yum. It looks so good! I'm going there for the first time (in like, FOUR WEEKS) and I'm excited! Everyone always says such good things about it.

You look so excited about your slushie!! :cutie:

I saw that on your ADR list. I hope you love it as much h as we did.

I love those slushies and lemon-y stuff in general. Especially if booze is involved.

Yay for Grey Goose Slushy time!!! That's the best time of any trip!!! :thumbsup2

Grey Goose slushies are the best. The Parisian Cosmo slushies they have during Food and Wine are better. I know. It is hard to believe, but alas, it is true. I have made Grey Goose slushies at home and they turned out really yummy.

I have to admit, I wasn't too big a fan of the Parisian Cosmo. I mean, I finished the whole thing still, but I definitely like the other two better! :rotfl:

Wait, WHAT??? Do you have a recipe?

Didn't like the Parisian Cosmo Slushie ?? What ?? Does not compute.

We have this blender thingy that someone got us for Christmas called a Kitchen Ninja or something like that. Anyway, it grinds ice down to a perfect slushie consistency. So I just got a can of frozen lemonade and put it in there. About 1 cup of water and 3/4 cup vodka (i used regular, but I am thinking the Grey Goose Citron would be better). Put ice in and "ninja" until is becomes the perfect spoon out slushie consistency. It was really good. And since it has been SUPER hot here - like 118 heat index - they were really refreshing.

Day 2 – Part Seven

Still makin' our way around the "world".
Next up …. Japan.

The kids love the gift shop here. We looked, but didn’t get anything.

Then we got the kids their Kaki Gori.

DSC03582.jpg

DSC03583.jpg

We took a seat in the shade in the America pavilion to rest so they could enjoy their treats.

DSC03584.jpg

DSC03581.jpg

We caught the end of the Voices of Liberty.

DSC03585.jpg

DSC03586.jpg

We headed up the escalator to see The American Adventure.

DSC03587.jpg

DSC03588.jpg

I really enjoyed it and I was so glad I did it. DS took a nap ….. SMH.

We breezed by Italy.

DSC03590.jpg

DSC03592.jpg

DSC03593.jpg

Then Germany …..

DSC03594.jpg

DSC03595.jpg

DSC03596.jpg

DSC03597.jpg

We stopped at Karamell Kuche to burn some snack credits.

DSC03602.jpg

DD got some chocolate and caramel covered marshmellows.

DSC03598.jpg

I got a Salted Chocolate covered caramel. DH had a few bites.

DSC03599.jpg

DH got some VERY cold beer. I just love the beer in the Germany pavilion. It is always so cold and I really like it that way.

DSC03600.jpg

DSC03601.jpg

Day 2 – Part Eight

After our snack, we headed over to the China pavilion. DH had the brilliant idea to run over and get FP’s for Maelstrom. Since the kids were getting tired, we wanted to make sure our wait time was brief.

DSC03603.jpg

I wanted to see the movie there as well. It was starting right when we got there and it did not disappoint. Absolutely breathtaking. I really enjoyed the movies. If you haven’t done it, I strongly recommend.

DSC03604.jpg

DSC03605.jpg

DSC03606.jpg

DSC03607.jpg

DSC03608.jpg

DD still had three dollars left so with a few more from me, she got this.

DSC03609.jpg

Because, you know, apparently there can never be enough stuffed animals.

b19ea3a2.jpg

DSC03610.jpg

Then it was on to Norway.

DSC03611.jpg

DSC03612.jpg

DSC03613.jpg

Here is why DH’s FP idea was so brilliant.

DSC03614.jpg

See all of those people ?? They were in line for the ride. The queue backed up AALLLLL the way out into the main walkway. The longest line I have ever seen for this ride. The wait time said 20 min., but clearly this was incorrect.
Since we had FP’s …. We walked right on.

DSC03615.jpg

We rode, just missed getting trapped in the movie by seconds and took some photos in the gift shop.

DSC03616.jpg

DSC03618.jpg

No one wanted to ride the Mexico ride, so we took a photo

DSC03619.jpg

and headed to the front of the park.

DSC03620.jpg

DSC03621.jpg

DSC03622.jpg

We rode Spaceship Earth.

DSC03623.jpg

And we headed back to the resort.

DS wanted to put his Legos together, but DH, DD and I went to take a dip in the quiet pool. It was just a short walk away. The water was lovely and it was really quiet there. I enjoyed some time in the hot tub as well.

You know what would be cool? If they built a chunnel between the UK and France pavilions. They have the English Channel represented so why not?

Japan is DD's favorite, and no visit is complete unless one consumes a Kaki Gori! Speaking of frozen concoctions, Grand Marnier Slush..gotta try it. I'll make you a deal. If we are in Epcot the same day over Thanksgiving, I'll get the Grey Goose Slush and you get the Grand Marnier, and if you don't love it, we'll switch.

I really like the China movie too. Gotta keep DD out of it for a while though. Not in the mood to hear the begging and pleading to go on the school trip to China. As much as I'd like to send my child to a foriegn land half-way around the world without me (not!), I can't reconcile the expenditure. That money would pay for both of us to go to Disneyland (and then some). Disneyland...China...Disneyland...China. I think we all know which option wins that debate. ;)

I agree. A chunnel would be cool.

The kids really love the Kaki Gori. I need to try the Gran Marnier one. But I always get the lemon. I'm game though. Sounds like a good plan.

I am 100% with you on not sending your child to a foreign country period. There s no way I would do that. Ever.

Looks like you guys had a great time wandering around the World Showcase! I love Kaki Gori, but I haven't had it in years! Too many awesome treats to decide from!

Good work narrowly escaping being trapped in the Norway movie! Have you ever been stuck on the little island at the end of the ride, because the doors to the theater are closed and you have to wait for the movie to end? THAT is the worst! :rotfl:

Yes, we have !! And then after that we got stuck in the movie. It was like they were trying to hold us prisoner. Since then, as soon as the ride is over .... we make a run for it !!! That movie is BAD. But I will say that I really enjoyed the Canada, American and Chinese movies. I am so glad we took the time to do those this trip. Hopefully, we will get to catch the France one next trip.

Day 2 – Part NINE

After a swim and some rest, we got ready for our ADR at Cape May Café

DSC03625.jpg

DSC03626.jpg

DSC03628.jpg

I would so love to stay at this resort one day.

DSC03630.jpg

DSC03631.jpg

We grabbed a buzzer and waited ……. And waited. At least a half an hour.

Finally, we were seated.

They have these little 1900 era bathing suits for children in frames.

DSC03634.jpg

Décor

DSC03635.jpg

DD requested this ADR specifically because she likes the food here. We all like it, so it is always a good meal for us. DD likes the macaroni and cheese.

DSC03636.jpg

And I do admit, It is really good mac and cheese.

I ordered a Magical Star cocktail.

DSC03637.jpg

You can’t see my blinking ice cube in this photo. But it was there and it made me happy.

DH really loves the seafood they have here.

DSC03638.jpg

DS loves the mac and cheese, too.

DSC03639.jpg

All of us love the dessert buffet.

DSC03640.jpg

The oreo bon-bons are the yummiest.

DSC03641.jpg

I loved all of these things, oreo bon-bon, key lime tart, raspberry cheesecake and some kind of cake.

We all very much enjoyed our meal here. Will definitely make it back.
I settled the tab while DH took the kids over to the gift shop.

The next day was Father’s Day so the kids and I were looking at t-shirts when DH snuck up on us. I asked if he wanted a shirt and he said no that he wanted this:

DSC03644.jpg

So we got it. DD talked me into getting these crocs.

DSC03643.jpg

The Mickey heads on either side light up. That is what sold it on me. I love those light up shoes and so does DD. And DS has been wanting this game for a couple of years now, so I bought it for them.

DSC03642.jpg

We have played it a couple of times and it is fun. The theme of the game makes it really fun.

After shopping, we headed back to the car and back to OKW to get some rest. Something to note, we needed to get back by 9:00 PM because our team, the South Carolina Gamecocks, was playing baseball in the college world series. Ironically, it was against Florida. We have won the CWS the last two years in a row. Since several of our really good players have graduated, we weren’t sure they would make it to the CWS, but they did and they made it to the final, but lost to Arizona. We were still proud of them. Arizona had a great team and really deserved to win.

OH THE BEACH CLUB.

Hahaha I love the mug! That Life game looks like a lot of fun too.

LOVE that mug! Great Father's Day gift. Can't believe you had to wait 30 minutes to get seated at Cape May. Bummer. At least there is cool stuff to look at to occupy your time. Although the smell of the BC lobby does get to me pretty quick.

It is fun, but it can take a while. I Soooo Wang to stay at the Beach Club ones day

We had to wait that losing last time we went, when you guys came with us. It was hard to wait, though, we were starving.

OK. About the smell. Does that mean you LIKE the smell ??? 'Cuz I remember liking the smell.

We really waited that long? I remember waiting, but not that long. Of course there was all the Christmas stuff to see, so I probably had no sense of how long we waited.

I like the smell, but it is potent. It doesn't take long for a headache to start.

I love those Oreo Bon-Bon's!!! They're one of my favorite desserts!

All of your souvenirs are so cute! The HM Life game looks really fun!

And your DD was there to entertain my kids, so there was minimal whining. Perfume-y smells give me a headache, too.

The Oreo bon bon's are so yummy. I live that Life game. Instead of a car being your game piece, you have a doom buggy. So cool.

June 17, 2012 – Father’s Day - Day 3 – Part ONE

Blizzard Beach

One of the main selling points on this trip was the fact that we had water park annuals passes from our last tip that were about to expire. So we HAD to use them, right ?? We only had time for one water park on this trip and the kids chose Blizzard Beach.

They have a ski lift that takes you up to the top. The line gets really backed up during the day, so you want to hit this early. If not, as much as I hate to say it, it is quicker to climb the stairs. Exhausting, but quicker.

DSC03654.jpg

During our Spring Break trip, we got to be friends with a family from North Carolina. They were on our same cruise and she organized our Dismeet for the Dissers on our cruise. We seemed to see them everywhere and got to know them. So she (kyirish here on the boards) was taking a last minute trip with her family this same weekend. When I posted our plans for this day on our FB page, she contacted me and let us know that they were going to be at Blizzard Beach this same morning and asked if we wanted to reserve a place near them to sit and I said of course !!! We agreed that the first ones to get here would grab a place for everyone. She and her family got to the park before us and reserved us an AWESOME spot right next to the ski patrol area.
It was under a shelter and they had several chairs. It was the best spot ever and we really appreciated them reserving it for us. We really enjoyed their company throughout the day. It was fun to hang out with them and talk about Disney stuff. DH took a pan of our view

DSC03655.jpg

It felt like we were right in the middle of all of the action, but back far enough so everyone wasn’t walking all over us. Perfect spot !! Thanks so much kyirish for reserving this spot for us.

DD loves the Ski Patrol area. It is designed more for big kids and she really likes the challenge of the training area. It has some pretty tame, but fun, slides and a zip line that kids love.

DD and I rode the slides a couple of times and then I rested while she played. These are photos I found on the internet.

After that, DH put the camera away, so aside from a photo kyirish took of DD, I am just posting stock photos from the internet from here on out.
DS went to ride Summit Plummet. Here’s a description:

Summit Plummet is a thrilling, high-speed waterslide with a 12-story drop at Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park.
Not afraid of heights? Take the plunge if you dare!
This premier waterslide attraction for big kids, teens and adults is not for the faint of heart. At a "chilling" 120 feet high, this sky-scraping ski jump of a thrill ride down the slopes of Mount Gushmore is one of the world's tallest and fastest free-fall body slide.

The adrenalin-pumping vertical drop will send "chills" up your spine as you plunge down the 360-foot long flume and through a darkened tunnel at speeds from 50 to 60 miles per hour. A digital readout at the bottom displays each rider's speed.

summitplummit.jpg

So he was the only one in our group that rode this, but kyirish’s family rode it. We decide to make our way up to the family raft ride which is Teamboat Springs

TSPRINGS_1_998.jpg

The line wasn’t bad so we took the ski lift up.

CHAIR_1_998.jpg

When we got up to the top, we noticed that the line wasn’t moving. After about 10 minutes or so, people started getting out of line. We considered it ourselves, but after about ten minutes more, they finally got it going. Teamboat Springs is a great ride. There is this huge raft that everyone piles into and the ride is really long and fun. You need at least four people in your group to ride in a raft with just your group. We only had three, so they paired us up with another couple. It was fine though, they were lots of fun.
Kyirish and her family waited for us at the bottom and she took this photo of DD. She had a waterproof camera.

600434_10151836113465357_668629048_n.jpg

This gives you a pretty good idea of how big the raft is. Really fun slide.
After that we went back to our seats and DD went to play in the Ski Patrol area. We were waiting for DS to show back up. Kyirish and her clan went off to ride some slides, while we chilled and people watched.

After about an hour or so, we were beginning to wonder where DS had gone off to. Kyirish’s DH told us he had seen him with a couple of girls. At first, I thought he was just kidding but he wasn’t. That little stinker had run of with a couple of other girls his age and was riding everything with them. This was fine with me, but he didn’t check in with us first, so we didn’t know where he was. We finally ran him down and fussed at him a little for not checking in. And then we teased him about the girls. Turns out he had ridden just about all of the slides with them and had a great time.

Day 3 – Part TWO

With all of us back together now we headed over to the Runoff Rapids which are really fun tube slides. You can ride alone or with another person.

RUNOFF_1_998.jpg

We rode those slides a few times and then the kids wanted to go over to the toboggan slides.

SNST_1_998_v2.jpg

blizzardbeach28.jpg

The kids love them, but I don’t like them because you ride on your belly and lean on your elbows the whole time. And have chronic tendonitis in my right elbow, so I opted out. DH doesn’t really like them either, so we waited at the bottom for them to come down. After that, it was almost 1:00 PM and we had plans to go to Magic Kingdom that night, so we went back to the resort to get some lunch and rest.

We just went over to Goods To Go at OKW to get our food and bring it back to our room.

I got the turkey wrap.

DSC03665.jpg

This was quite tasty and a change from the normal fare, so I really enjoyed it.
DH got a burger

DSC03666.jpg

And each of the kids got chicken tenders.

DSC03667.jpg

For dessert, each of the kids got a Mickey ice cream bar and DH and I each got some key lime pie.

DSC03669.jpg

Which was really good.

DD really wanted this cookie, so I burned a snack credit to get her one.

DSC03668.jpg

We rested a while and straightened up a little. And about 3:00 PM we headed over to the bus stop to catch a bus to Magic Kingdom.

I never really noticed this decoration in the concrete before until then.

Maybe because we always go at rope drop and there are always people standing on it.

DSC03674.jpg

The parade was just ending and it was really crowded.
