PIO~ Georgeous pictures. I don't know what the dessert pic was, but I know it's topped with macarons. I've decided I want to make those!

Nan~ I hope your blah's go away soon. And I saw the pic of the Grumpy Ol' Troll cake on FB. :lmao: Awesome!

Glynis~ How are you feeling?

Brandi~ How are YOU feeling?

Well, no work for me today. They closed the road between home and work so I got an unexpected day off. I spent it relaxing.

I did make some rice pudding since it's cold and rainy outside. :lovestruc

We had fried fish, fries and homemade tartar sauce for dinner. Yummy!!!

Back to work tomorrow and I'm finally going grocery shopping. We have all of our meals planned for the next week and we've got some good food coming up! :cool1:

Y'all have a great Thursday!

An Eton Mess? Rumour has it that in the English college of Eton, the cooks made a meringue for dessert. Someone, the meringue ended up on the floor or a table just before it was due to be brought out. Rather than not serving dessert, the cooks salvaged as much of the meringue as possible.

They then added jelly, fruit and nuts to it, served it up in cups and called it an Eton Mess.

We had a big lot of jelly underneath that had strawberries added to it, decided to add the macaroons and topped it with whipped cream mixed with crumbled up meringue and stawberries. We then bejewelled it with pomegranate (and its juice). You can make any variation of the Eton Mess; providing there is meringue, cream, jelly and fruit.

:sad2:Dinner was Mickey D's

I took Mr A to the doctor since he was still feeling bad. I feel sooo bad I thought he was playing up the cough a bit much. Well his has a 105 temp and bronchitis. Yeah I am a baaad Mom

The dr wants him to stay home until Monday they swabbed him for Whooping cough since that is making the rounds here. Who knew you could still get it even with an immunization.

I am off to clean up abit and take care of the sicky

Morning, everyone! :surfweb:

What a day yesterday. Ugh. I was doing really good until I was at lunch with my friend. I started feeling sick. I got home and proceeded to have the worst afternoon of my life. Ugh, ugh, ugh. I would chalk it up to Aunt Flo, sometimes she does this to me. But I had fried corn at my mom's house on Sunday and have been having "issues" ever since. I was allergic to corn as a young child and thought I'd pretty much grown out of it. Apparently not. I rarely eat it so I never think about it, but buddy I'm crossing it off my list to eat. Ugh, again.

Oh, FYI, that's what my Facebook post was about. It's much nicer to but "bug" as a status than, "Pray for me, I have raging diarrhea." LOL!!! Sorry, I know that's gross.

Thankfully I am feeling much better this morning. I didn't get to go to church last night (just playing it safe). Today I am making chili, per Scott's request.

Everyone have a great day!

Lindsay~ Girl, I hope you're feeling better! But, you must be if you're going for chili today! :lmao:

Back to work for me today. Somehow, Thursday snuck up.

I have to shop before I come home today so I'll be picking something up for dinner.

Y'all have a great day!

I honestly don't know if I will eat any of it. It freezes nicely so I may just my portion away for another day :)

Oh no! I hope he feels better soon! Poor guy.

Nancy, I saw the troll cake on facebook too--so funny!

The DIS has been running so slow for me lately! I wasn't even able to get on yesterday--I as able to log in but couldn't do anything from there, ugh. So I have not been uploading food pics. I have been taking them though and will post some once the DIS runs better for me.

Dinner last night was Singapore noodles--well my Nanatized version of them anyway! I subbed some bacon I had already cooked in the fridge for the traditional roast pork, and added some egg. I also "made" potstickers (aka I bought frozen potstickers and cooked them haha).

WFD: I had been planning on making chicken enchiladas, but I think I am going to get home later than originally anticipated. If that is the case, maybe a BELT.

Brandi- Nola calls Buddy "Grumpy Old Troll" like the troll in Dora. SHe told me that Dora had one so she wanted her own Troll. :lmao:The girls were going to come for a piece of cake so Marisa had the baker write Grumpy Old Troll on it :rotfl2:

The woman I worked with was :confused3 How can you work in a Chinese Restaurant, work with chefs from different parts of Asia, and then refuse to eat the food? Really????? We had three meals a day cooked for us, and like you, I liked some things others not so much. Bitter melon is something I tried once and never will touch again! Saturday night was "American" food night and that was interesting! Our head cook Nanatized everything so there was no such thing as dinner without ginger ;) I loved it!

The cake sounds great, the story makes something you all will cherish for a long time!

Bitter Melon was one thing David and I never ate again. We tried to like it, but it just was not going to happen.

hope everyone is doing well today...

The DIS is driving me crazy and not making it any easier for me to catch up!

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Morning, everyone. The results are in... I have bronchitis. Some strong meds and hopefully I'll feel back to normal, soon... whatever normal is these days!

Lindsay - I hope you feel much better. Sorry about yesterday!

Dinner last night did not turn out to be pancakes. Instead, I threw together the baked cream cheese spaghetti. We all love it, and it's easy to keep those ingredients on hand.

Tonight is my Scouts Blue and Gold banquet, so I will be going there for dinner. Our theme is the Chinese New Year. We are having sesame chicken and fried rice. Basic, but filling. Back here at the house, I'll probably have something easy for the kids to eat. Haven't figured out what, yet, but it will be something Jacob can dish up. He'll be in charge while Katie is at play practice, and Alan is meeting with his new boss. Cross your fingers that all is well with the new boss.

Have a great day, all!

Hi everyone I am going to try this again. Yesterday I went to post my post and it never showed up and then it was just to hard to get back in. Sorry.

Janice ~ Poor Mr. A. Sure hope he feels better soon. And Mom, don't beat yourself up to bad - we have ALL been there, done that!!

Jen ~ Happy Thursday - just one more day till the weekend. Hope you are staying dry. The news really has shown a lot of your rain and flooding.

Lindasy ~ Sure hope you are feeling better today. No more corn for you young lady.

Nan ~ I loved the Cake. I just knew "The Old Grumpy Troll" had to be about Buddy. :rotfl2: God love the man!!

Becky ~ I totally so agree with you about the DIS running so slow. I just gave up yesterday and today isn't a whole lot better. What's up with that??

Brandi ~ Tomorrow is Dr. day. Sure hope all goes well and you get your walking cast.

Glynis ~ Oh sweetie, I so hope you start feeling better. Have fun tonight at your Blue and Gold Banquet. I have everything crossed for Alan and his new boss.

I got a call yesterday at about 2:30 that Ethan was sick and could I go get him. Poor little scoot looked like something the cat drug in. Elizabeth was able to get him into the doctor so I went over and watched Liam. He was awake for about an hour and we talked about his day. Then he went back to sleep so I got some good cuddle time in. Ethan has an upper respitory infection. Nothing they can do but let it run its course, but of course we worry about Liam getting RSV. So they are keeping the boys away from each other as much as they can.

I have boot camp tonight and Doug is tearing the lathe down in the bedroom tonight. We lead such exciting lives. Patethic thing is - is I am really excited. That makes it even worse. :confused3

WFDT ~ Subway. I am picking them up from work, so they will be ready when I get home at 6:45 from class.

Make it a great day everyone. Cross your fingers this goes through.

Hi everyone happy Thursday!!! WFD tonight Lasagna and Garlic Bread.. I am also making a Yellow Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting for our hockey team dinner on Friday night and some Chocolate Chip Cookies for a fundraiser on Saturday.

Marilyn - Did you have to replace the waterheater? I hope not and if so, I hope it isn't too expensive.

We're having that looked at next week. It's not an emergency situation just yet. It still works but it seems to not be heating properly. On Saturday all 4 of us took showers and it would go from hot, to cold, to warm, again and again with no water running anywhere else in the house.

This week we had to have the roof repaired and the ceiling in the bedroom fixed. On Saturday my DM went upstairs into the guest room and noticed water damage to the ceiling in several spots. There were shingles damaged on the roof around a exhaust pipe. We had snow/ice on Friday night and it had accumulated around the pipe. The repairman came Monday morning to look at it and cleared the accumulation and even the gutters to be safe. The repaired the roof yesterday and will be back next week to fix the ceiling.

Luckily we live in a townhouse condominium and pay monthly dues which covers the cost of repairs to the outside of the house. :thumbsup2 And consiquently any damage caused by something that happens like any roof leaks.

Take it easy and feel better soon! Bronchitis is nothing to mess around with.

Good evening y'all!

Today was a great day at work! And tomorrow is Friday! :cool1:

I went shopping and stocked up for the next few weeks. Then I went and picked up Church's chicken for dinner...by UncleR's request. This was my first Church's chicken...and YUMMY! :woohoo: Salty yumminess.

Of course, I don't eat meat on the bone, so I had to pull mine off the bone. :lmao:

I think I'm going to make some dessert later. We'll see.

Hope y'all have a great evening and tomorrow!

Glynis Hopefully you feel better soon.

Brandy How is your foot?

Lindsay Hopefully you are feeling better now.

WFD is a chicken divan casserole

Time to give the sicky his med's

Morning, all!

I am feeling better, my stomach just still feels a little shell-shocked, if you will. I am trying to eat carefully, just in case it wasn't the corn. I hate this, you guys. It really knocks me off my feet (no pun intended) and leaves me really low for about a week or so. I am afraid to leave the house, afraid to eat out, etc. Ugh. I know deep down that I will be fine, this happens so rarely. But boy, when it does, I'm knocked down a peg.

I made an awesome pot of chili yesterday, looked at and worried the spiciness might make me have a round 2. So I called Amanda and asked her if she was interested in some dinner/lunch for today, and she was. I pulled out enough chili for Scott's dinner yesterday and today and gave the rest to them :) Waste not, right? She was glad to have it.

I have been thinking about making homemade chicken stock. I use it some form at LEAST once a week, so I thought it might be a good idea. I was going to use the Barefoot Contessa recipe. Could those of you who make your own stock take a look at it and tell me if you think it would be good? I am planning on cleaning out my freezer so I will have plenty of room to store.

My only concern is that I don't know if I can heft a stockpot that has 3 chickens in it so it can be strained. And and all help appreciated!

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Just take it easy. And I totally understand about being wary after tummy troubles.
