Lindsay - Let's see. Here's my partial list:

*clean kitchen... again (why do my kids think they have to eat?)
*vacuum the basement... again (why do my kids think they can drag their toys out?)
*Make 2 or 3 pies
*wash Thanksgiving dishes
*find Thanksgiving tablecloth
*take Timmy for Christmas pictures

All of that, and more, while watching Jacob throw up! Yes, another one bit the dust last night! I'm hoping that's it! All the girls have been sick, and now Jacob! I'm hopeful that Timmy will be spared, as we've kept him in our room to separate him from the sickies! Keep your fingers crossed and a prayer in your hearts for me!

Nancy - Your pie night sounds wonderful!!! My Alan is always trying to figure out how to get some savory pies on pie night. So far, no one wants to eat anything savory!

Jen - Have fun today while getting your dad! I can't wait to see mine on Wednesday, so I'll be thinking about you today!

Well, I'm hopeful that Jacob will stop throwing up at some point! He started about 9 last night, and it has gone on all night long. I'm starting to worry about dehydration. Keeping an eye on it, and ready to get him to the doctor if needed!

If all goes well, we'll attend pie night #1 tonight at my SIL's house.

Ohhhhh, Glynis. I hope people stop puking in that house of yours! :eek:

That's my least favorite type of sickness.

And "why do my kids think they have to eat?" made me :rotfl:

Morning, all! *stretch*

Today begins a busy week for all of us! I am trying to get my to-do lists done this morning. Care to share what all you have to get done? I need some motivation!

Monday

  • Pull out my dishes I use for Thanksgiving breakfast and get them in the dishwasher. On that note, pull out any other holiday items and get them ready, like the linen napkins.
  • In the spirit of above, pull out any side dish platters/bowls I need. Since I cook lunch for us instead of dinner, I don't serve food on the table often. I need to decide what I'm going to serve my fruit and bacon on/in. I've got plenty of options, I just want to make the decisions BEFORE Thursday morning. ;) I live by a mantra of, "what I do know I don't have to do later."
  • Get laundry done. I'm not going to have time after today to do much washing outside of towels*. It's just the end of last week's clothes and what we wore over the weekend.
  • Decide what I'm going to take to my mom's house. Everyone is coming to dinner there lives within walking distance except me. To make life easier, I always bring something cold or room temperature, like deviled eggs, or dessert. This year I am taking dessert. There will be an apple stack cake and cherry delight (which is like a cool whip/cherry cheesecake thingy, will post a recipe later) so I need to bring something chocolate. I think I will make congo bars or a derby pie. I just need to decide :)
  • Make a pot of vegetable soup.
I THINK that's my list for today. Sorry to bore you all with that, but seeing it on the computer like that helps me get mentally organized. Feel free to share what all you have to accomplish.

I hope you all have a great day!

*Ok, confession time. I have a bit of a "thing" about clean towels. That is one bit of laundry I find absolute joy in doing. When I wash towels, I also include pajamas. I don't know why, but there is nothing better to me than getting out of a nice hot shower, drying off in soft, clean, fluffy towels, and putting on fresh pjs. I don't know. I chalk it up to the simple joys in life. I make time to do that often. It isn't a chore to me like washing the rest of the clothes, lol. I know, I'm a total freak on a leash :rotfl2:

Lindsay, Your list sounds doable... And I love fresh towels..

For me my little thing I love for my sheets to be cool, when I get in, something about a cool pillow.

yummy, this looks so good.... I am jealous.

Lindsay - I'm not preparing for Thanksgiving; but rather Christmas.

This weekend....I got out the Christmas tree and the inside decorations. My tree is up! And as you can see, I've also started Christmas shopping and wrapping.

2011November21067.jpg

I also got my Bourbon Fruit cakes made. I will post the recipe and more pictures in the next week when I get some time.

IMG_0617.jpg

I also got into the garden....been growing vegetables and the garden needed a good weeding. I've got some corn...

2011November14Misc074.jpg

I've also been working on the final couple of shots for the photoscavenger hunt....If anyone would have said that I'd be using real berries to get a shot of Berry Wreath 2 months ago and that I'd be spending some time doing this layout, I would have said they had rocks in their head!

IMG_0631.jpg

My final task that I've started is my Christmas cards. I've succumbed to the ease of writing a generic letter and printing out copies rather than writing a personal message (with the same news) in each card. So, I've completed the letter and formatted it so that it prints out properly on the special Christmas paper that I've bought.

DS was sick this weekend and we took him to the doctor today. He has a virus and is experiencing bouts of giddiness. Headache and a temperature are also symptoms of this virus. He threw up today....in a nicely cleaned bathroom!!

princess::upsidedow

PIO - you have so much going on, I can never keep all that up...

Your Tree is beautiful, I will drag everything out, Friday after Thanksgiving. DH will be watching the Texas A&M vs u.t. game on TV and I will put up the tree hopefully...

Those fruit cakes look wonderful, anything with Bourbon in it has to be good. :rolleyes1

I like to start my cards the weekend after Thanksgiving and get them out the first week in December, BUT this year has a wrench thrown in it....

I leave Sunday after Thanksgiving for a conference in Orlando, and I fly back on Friday the 2nd of December, then I fly out on Sunday the 4th to Colorado Spring, CO and return on the 7th...

So all of plans have now been pushed back 2 weeks....

UGHHHH.

I hope DS gets to feeling better soon.

This one is for you Lindsay!

TO DO list for the week.

Wash the outside trim and screen slides.
Wash windows inside and out
Check Thanksgiving linens
Put out the outdoor decorations
clean the front porch
Clean the front closet and return all the stuff that does not belong to me
Give the house one more clean before Wednesday
Check the Christmas bed linens to make sure that they are fresh
Clean and sanitize 60 bottles
Bottle and label 2 batches of wine

Complete the Thanksgiving menu
Shop for perishables for Thanksgiving

Work on Tuesday and Wednesday

That is a serious list....

What is the wine making????? :rolleyes1

Lindsay – Looks like you’ve got it under control!

PIO – Your tree is beautiful! I hope your DS gets well soon.:hug:

Jen – Enjoy your time with Dad!

Glynis – I’m so sorry Jacob is now sick. Hopefully he will feel better and y’all can attend pie night. Enjoy your time with your Dad!

Nan – I had to chuckle at the Whoopie & Pizza pies.:rotfl:

I'm going to put a pot of white beans on to cook today for dinner tonight then I need to squeeze in a mani/pedi. Turkey needs to get in the brine and the rest of the day will be prepping/chopping for the remaining dishes. Hoping to get some gym time in too!

Have a great day everyone!

Glynis,

Hope everyone is on the mend now, I know you are ready for it to be over. :hug:

Well, the barf fest continues with Jacob! He just can't keep anything down, and now he's running a fever. He's been complaining about sharp pain in the appendix area, and while I don't think it's appendicitis, I'd feel a lot more relieved to get it checked out before the doctor's office is closed for the holiday. So, we are off to the doctor in about half an hour. Say a prayer that it's nothing but a stomach bug that we have to just wait it out!

Oh Glynis I hope he feels better soon! Poor little guy.

PIO, lovely tree! I like the music theme.

Nancy, I think it is so cool that you make your own wine. I wish I had the skills to do that!

WFD: yesterday I cooked some black beans in the slow cooker and so we are having black bean soup and pepper jack quesadillas. Spicy food because John has the dreaded MOLD and I feel a cold coming on too.

Lindsay - It sounds like you have everything under control there! Lots to do, but you have a plan! :thumbsup2

PIO - Your dinner looks great, as well as the tree and garden!

Jan - So Mr A doesn't like Mayo? :confused3

Nancy - So glad your pie night was a success! Sounds like fun!

Jen - Have a great time with your Dad!

Glynis - :eek: I hope they all get better soon! That's one reason I never could have been a mother, can't deal with that kind of stuff, regardless of which end it comes out! :rotfl: I hope everything goes well with the Doctor.

Brandi - On a TV show I was watching the other night, one character was bugging the other about all the "informercial" stuff that he bought off the TV. One was a "chillow", evidently a temperature controlled pillow! :rotfl2:

Kat - I hope you get your turkey in the brine, and get to the gym, lord knows we all need it this week! :rolleyes1

Becky - I hope you and John feel better soon!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WFD? Sloppy Joes and Potato Salad. I made the Potato Salad yesterday so it could sit in the fridge overnight, it's my "nanatized" version of the Neely's Grandma Jean's Potato Salad.
What is on my list Lindsay?
Process Payroll
Load, Run and Unload the Dishwasher (probably twice this week)
Put away the suitcase and clean up the bedroom where my parents will stay.
Shop for my last bit of ingredients (seafood, fresh veggies)
Go through all the papers the cats knocked over
I know there is more, but it escapes me right now.
We've done most of the rest, the dining room table is cleared, so is the couch, my turkey and Prime Rib are thawing in the refrigerator, so I guess I should do one or two things on that list and then kick back! :lmao:
What is the wine making????? :rolleyes1
It really is easy. I get wine kits from the wine and beer supply store. The wine is usually very good.
Nan – I had to chuckle at the Whoopie & Pizza pies.:rotfl:
!
Oh Kat! It was Boston Creme Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, Beef steak pie................the list went on and on.........:lmao:
Oh No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! better safe than sorry! Let us know how he is!
Nancy, I think it is so cool that you make your own wine. I wish I had the skills to do that!
Spicy food because John has the dreaded MOLD and I feel a cold coming on too.
Becky! You cook like an Iron chef! You can make wine if I can!
I hope that both of you feel better!
PIO_ How is your son feeling?
My list shrunk but not as much as I wanted. My house is clean, one batch of wine is bottled and waiting for labels and the shrink things on the top, another racked and waiting to bottle. The hall closet is cleaned and bags of stuff lined up to be returned to whoever left it here. Laundry working.
Dinner is comfort food. Sauerkraut with hot dogs and oven roasted home fried potatoes. Buddy likes hot dogs instead of kielbasa :confused3 Left over pie for dessert.
Hello all. My marathon continues. Spent Saturday running back and forth to a Girl Scouts event. It was a safety course at a local martial arts studio. Took the oldest at 10, returned at 11 with the little one, picked her up at 12 then back to pick up the big one at 1. She wasn't ready so we ran and got gas then went back to get her. :upsidedow
Sunday was a swim meet for the youngest, she did well and didn't get disqualified in any event. :woohoo:
School's closed early today and tomorrow so that means I am out of the office half the day working. I am taking off Wednesday but I have to get lots done in the family room between now and then. It's a pig sty with boxes of junk and sewing stuff all over. Looks like a hoarder house. :scared1: :rotfl:
Yesterday after the swim meet we went out to lunch. The Redskins/Cowboys game came on and me and my oldest niece were making comments. My sis said it was time to leave before we both started yelling at the screeen. :rolleyes1 We get home, DN runs off to play with the neighborhood kids, Dsis turns on the game. Guess who yelled at the TV more. :thumbsup2:rotfl:
Dinner tonight is pulled pork tacos and roasted cauliflower.
Sounds like you're almost ready for the 'rents! Enjoy them.
And send us any leftover prime rib you may have. :rolleyes1
Yummmm. Pulled pork tacos.
Dad is here. His plane was about an hour late getting into Dallas. But, he's here!!! :woohoo:
It rained and was extremely foggy all the way home. It's also chilly. We came home and cranked up the heat.
I made cheeseburger macaroni/fake hamburger helper for dinner.
Tomorrow we'll show him around the town, do some shopping, and then pick J up from school early. Dinner will be taco soup.
Hope y'all have a great Tuesday! I know we will!
Today begins a busy week for all of us! I am trying to get my to-do lists done this morning. Care to share what all you have to get done? I need some motivation!
Well... we "boycott" Thanksgiving and leave town by ourselves so my list is not long! We just need to pack sometime Wednesday and get the house ready for my mom to come stay here.
This weekend....I got out the Christmas tree and the inside decorations. My tree is up! And as you can see, I've also started Christmas shopping and wrapping.
Awesome pics! I usually wait until right after Thanksgiving to decorate, but since I'm off some this week before we leave I may go ahead and put our stuff up.
We're heading up to Ft. Worth early to have lunch before we grab him.
Where'd you eat? :yay:
Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent (:eek:) so I put up all the decor and trees at work today. The good part is that I got it all done today so I don't have to come in the rest of the week! :woohoo:
Tonight we're having bacon and butternut squash risotto.
We ate at Big Al's BBQ in Dallas. I got a honkin' baked potato topped with chopped beef and it was yummy! :cloud9:
And yay for being done with work!!!
Well, the doctor is perplexed. Jacob's stomach is soft, so he's not sure that it's appendix, but the pain in the area is concerning him. They took some blood to check and see if it's bacterial or viral. If it's bacterial they'll do an ultrasound or a CAT scan to see what's really happening. In the meantime, I get to watch him and see if things get worse. If the fever spikes, or if he curls into the fetal position and can't move, then we are ER bound. I'm really hopeful that it's just the same stomach bug that the girls had last week. I just worry more about him. When he was 11 months old, he almost died from the roto virus. He couldn't stop throwing up and was so dehydrated, they couldn't even tap into a vein to help him out. Ever since then, I worry when he starts throwing up.
The doctor did prescribe some nausea medicine, so hopefully that will help... if he can keep it down. Otherwise, we're back to the doctor tomorrow for suppositories! Sorry if that's TMI.
Your prayers and good thoughts are so appreciated! I've seen what the power of this group can do!
