Nancy - thanks for asking. DS is still feeling under the weather. He's actually asked to sleep in the big bed tonight...with me. That's a sure sign that he needs some extra TLC!

Glynis - Hope Jacob feels better soon! :hug:

I also got my Bourbon Fruit cakes made. I will post the recipe and more pictures in the next week when I get some time.

Mmmmmmmmmm! Please post the recipe when you can! I hope your son is feeling better today :hug:

Lindsay I am with you on the clean towel,bed linens. I love the smell. It brings back good memories of doing the laundry with my grandmother and Nana :love:

I wish I knew where my "thing" came from. I certainly didn't grow up like this, lol. We hung up our towels to dry and used them a few times. Now, that thought makes me shudder. My husband is the same way. He doesn't understand why I wash pajamas so much. "We're just sleeping in them," is his reasoning. He'd be happy if I washed them once a week. :scared1:

The caramel pie was wicked rich. The caramel was good, the pie shell was good. Even tiny slices were too much.

The caramel pie is the one that caught my eye. I LOVE salted caramel anything, so that recipe is on my list to try. Thanks for the warning about it being sweet. I may keep it for Scott and I and not share it ;)

Lindsay, Your list sounds doable... And I love fresh towels..

For me my little thing I love for my sheets to be cool, when I get in, something about a cool pillow.

I know what you mean! Especially in the summer, I love curling up in bed when the sheets are nice and cold.

WFD: yesterday I cooked some black beans in the slow cooker and so we are having black bean soup and pepper jack quesadillas.

How do you do your black beans? We love them and I'd love a way to do them in the crockpot. Thanks!

Well, the doctor is perplexed.
I hope he had a good night. Let us know how he's doing this morning. Love you guys! :hug:

I got everything done on my list yesterday. Today is going to be a doozy. We have vegetable soup for dinner today so at least I don't have to cook. Here's what's on my agenda today:

Tuesday

  • Ladies Ensemble practice at church at 11 (all Wed. church activities are on Tuesday this week)
  • Choir practice tonight (it will be a late night because I got a text from our director yesterday asking me to fill in on this week's praise team. I won't get home until around 10 tonight)
  • After ensemble practice, run to Publix and get last minute items (going today to avoid the zoo tomorrow)
  • While at Publix, run down to the liquor store and get some bourbon for derby pie (that's what I decided to take to my mom's)
  • Wash a load of towels/pjs ;)
  • Get an assembly line started so cooking tomorrow won't be overwhelming.
Other than running all over creation, my list is pretty doable today. The only kink in my day is we are supposed to have severe weather tonight while at church. Ever since our April tornadoes, we are all still shell-shocked. Only a 5% chance of tornadoes, but there may be some damaging winds. Ugh. But at least Scott and I will be together at church in a safe place during the storms. Ever since April, I have a thing about being away from Scott in bad weather. :sad1:

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy day!:cheer2:

Hello all. My marathon continues.

:faint:

Dad is here. His plane was about an hour late getting into Dallas. But, he's here!!! :woohoo:
!

Have a great day!

Well, the doctor is perplexed.
Your prayers and good thoughts are so appreciated! I've seen what the power of this group can do!

Oh Glynis, that poor boy! Please keep us updated on his condition, :grouphug:

Take my advice and save yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Share it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am embarrassed to admit that mine is all gone. Every little bite! Thank goodness I shared some, it was that addictive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so I am still working on my list but have postponed the window thing til the weekend. It is going to be around 60 degrees on Saturday so my outside work is going to wait. Today I need to work so that eats into my day but I am going to prep some veggies and make a few sides that keep well. I may make my cranberry sauce today as well. I also am washing all my Fall linens in the bathroom and then putting them aside until Thursday morning. DH uses my towels :headache :and I want them to look pretty that day. These are just the ones that hang on the back of the door but still! I also need to make sure that the mats are clean, Baxter heads into the bathroom whenever that door is open and I don't want cat hair floating around. Don't get me started on Baxter :dance3:

Dinner was good last night, DH left two little potatoes becasue he diod nto want to eat too much :rotfl2: and then almost fainted when I told him I gave his BB pie away :lmao::rotfl: Big guy cannot take a joke!

DInner is :confused3 but I'll be back when I decide

Glynis I certainly hope Jacob is doing better.:hug:

I am slowed done by some unexpected things.:headache: I was planning on making some mini desserts for Thanksgiving dinner but I may go the easy route and make a run to the bakery. I have to stop by tonight and see what I can get. I hope they will be open in that morning:worship:

Lindsay we used to hang the sheets and such on the line outside. My friends and I would play running in and out of the clothes line. We loved the smell. Yeah we were wierd kids:rotfl:

Brandi - On a TV show I was watching the other night, one character was bugging the other about all the "informercial" stuff that he bought off the TV. One was a "chillow", evidently a temperature controlled pillow! :rotfl2:
That is so cool :rotfl2: :worship: Pun intended... I will have to research that....
:laughing:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WFD? Sloppy Joes and Potato Salad. I made the Potato Salad yesterday so it could sit in the fridge overnight, it's my "nanatized" version of the Neely's Grandma Jean's Potato Salad.
What is on my list Lindsay?
Process Payroll
Load, Run and Unload the Dishwasher (probably twice this week)
Put away the suitcase and clean up the bedroom where my parents will stay.
Shop for my last bit of ingredients (seafood, fresh veggies)
Go through all the papers the cats knocked over
I know there is more, but it escapes me right now.
We've done most of the rest, the dining room table is cleared, so is the couch, my turkey and Prime Rib are thawing in the refrigerator, so I guess I should do one or two things on that list and then kick back! :lmao:
Alison, please make time for yourself too and enjoy your parents...:hug:
It really is easy. I get wine kits from the wine and beer supply store. The wine is usually very good.
Nancy, this year I am making my very first batch of cranberry liquor. I have fallen in love with this stuff, I usually order one called Black Duck, but it is just so darn expensive, so I this year I am gonna try and make it, granted it will not be ready until spring, but hey why not try and see how it comes out!
Dad is here. His plane was about an hour late getting into Dallas. But, he's here!!! :woohoo:
It rained and was extremely foggy all the way home. It's also chilly. We came home and cranked up the heat.
I made cheeseburger macaroni/fake hamburger helper for dinner.
Tomorrow we'll show him around the town, do some shopping, and then pick J up from school early. Dinner will be taco soup.
Hope y'all have a great Tuesday! I know we will!
Jen,
Glad you Dad made it in safely and I know you are thrilled...:hug:
Oy, poor baby. I don't like it that the children on this thread are under the weather. :guilty:
Your list looks better than yesterday. ::yes::
We had a tornado in my hometown about 4 years ago. 500 homes and buildings were destroyed. The only thing that happened to my own home was that a metal rod went through the wall. But one block over, homes were leveled. I totally understand being fearful after something like that. I still am.
Okay, so I am still working on my list but have postponed the window thing til the weekend. It is going to be around 60 degrees on Saturday so my outside work is going to wait. I want fall and Christmas linens. I may have to talk to UncleR. :idea:
Girl, the easy route is sometimes the best route. Go get yourself some good desserts.
Jen,
Glad you Dad made it in safely and I know you are thrilled...:hug:
I am! :woohoo:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My dad is so cute. That is all. :lmao:

Today's list for us is:

*Do laundry
*Go get my oil changed in my car
*Show dad around town
*Go to store for last minute things for Thanksgiving
*Pick J up from school early
*Make taco soup for dinner

Hope y'all have a good Tuesday!

Good morning. I'm cautiously optimistic that things are starting to look up around here. We had a very quiet night! No one throwing up or complaining of pain! I'm letting Jacob sleep as long as he can before making a decision about school today.

My to do list for today includes almost everything from yesterday! Not much got done in between trips to the doctor and to various stores for prescriptions, etc., yesterday!

We did get Timmy's picture taken yesterday, so one part of my dad's Christmas is all done! It was tough going, though! As long as he could see me, all he wanted was for me to hold him. Once Alan got there, though, things turned right around. We were at a place in the mall, and once we were done, Mary said she'd take him to look at Santa (yup, he's already there) from the balcony (we were on the second floor). We chose the picture package that we wanted, and headed out. We couldn't find Mary or Timmy anywhere! Talk about panic! We searched ourselves, and couldn't find them, so we called mall security, and they began a search. Mary and Timmy were located about 15 minutes later. Timmy hadn't wanted to see Santa, he wanted to ride the escalators at the opposite end of the mall. Mary said he started to throw a fit, so she took him. Talk about a scary experience for mommy! Whew! Don't ever want to have that happen again!

No idea on dinner tonight. I really don't want to run to the store, as I have so much to do here, so we may just end up with breakfast for dinner.

How terrifying Glynis!!! :eek:

Glad the kids were found okay and that Jacob is beginning to turn the corner. :hug:

ok list time for me....

Work until 4pm.....

Dinner tonight is Venison Burgers and French Fries, the burgers are made up just waiting to grill, the fires and cut and ready, just need to bake them... I no not right but, it is just easier...

Make Mac in Cheese for work Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Make Cranberry Relish
Make Biscuits (to stale for dressing)
Make Cornbread (to stale for dressing)

Make turkey brine and get that bird soaking.....

go to bed and start the next day......

Would you share the recipe? I have been wanting to make some. i make Blueberry liqueur and also a Lithuanian Honey liqueur that I love. I made a raspberry one a few years ago that was also good.

Glynis- I would keep the little guy home. I know that school is important but I have always thought that if kids are rundown they seem to catch everything so I used to invest the extra day home from school in order to avoid several more down the road.

Jen- I love Holiday linens! I had to make myself leave teh computer because I saw a new set of bedding that would look awesome in kady's room which is blue. It is Santa flying in his sleigh on a midnight blue background and tehn I saw a candy cane stripe for my room. I actually tried tp convince myself that since I am trying to get away from comforters that the bedspread would be a great buy :lmao:

Janice- I would pass on the additional baking and make a purchase :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

So far I made my turnips and carrots, orange scented cranberry apple sauce, chopped up all the veggies for both stuffings (Again................the mutinous Daniel!) and roasted the sweet potatoes for my sweet potato gratin.

nancy,
I don't mind sharing the recipe... Remember that I have never tried the homemade version, (yet that is).... But it is at home and I am work, so please remind me later if I don't post... My next couple of weeks are crazy!

How do you do your black beans? We love them and I'd love a way to do them in the crockpot. Thanks!

We ended up not eating them last night so I want to try them before posting the recipe. I hope they are good because the recipe was very easy. We had pasta carbonara instead.

Glynis, I hope everyone is feeling a lot better today!
Jen, enjoy the time with your Dad.

WFD: yoday is John's birthday but he is home sick with the dreaded MOLD. I am making him short ribs (I already cooked them on Sunday, they just need to be reheated), polenta, and wilted greens. Couer la creme with raspberry-grand mariner sauce for dessert. Hopefully he will be able to taste it!

Hmm, I think I may have to look for some of this while I'm at the liquor store today. Share the recipe!

Happy birthday, John!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laundry is done. Other than that, not much. :lmao:
Dad is sleeping, bless his heart, I know he's tired. My brother, SIL, and their two girls live with him, and he's sort of a full-time babysitter. He's using this vacation as a means to rest. :lmao:
We'll need to get up and get going eventually today. But right now, it's so nice being lazy.
