Well we made it back from the Beer and Oyster festival and I had a wonderful Sieren Norie that was infused with Bacon that made my day... I will post pictures later...

Lazy sunday today. DS is having a friend over this afternoon; so we're just enjoying some down time at home.

WFDT? I got a nice piece of Porterhouse steak from the market yesterday. I think I'll just simply pan fry for DS and myself. DH has decided he wants to cook :eek: himself zucchini stuffed with a rice and bean mix. I think it might make a nice side to go with the porterhouse. I'll also put some broccoli on....just in case. :laughing:

Have a good day everyone.

Mmmm. . .bacon. . .:cloud9:

We're having moose cube steak smothered in garlic and onions. Sides are mashed potatoes with milk gravy (leftovers), roasted beets, and buttered corn. :goodvibes

Ellen, the weather report showed Nebraska and all the snow, I pray you all are ok...

Sorry no time or energy to catch up. :faint: Fran worked me to death today even though I told her that I didn't want to do too much while Arline was here so that I could cook dinners at night.

I have managed to put together a John Wayne Cheese Casserole, it's in the oven now and all I have to do is put some sliced tomatoes on top it in about 20 minutes. Let me know if you guys want the recipe. When the tomatoes go on top, I'll go assemble salads.

We moved boxes around and put them in a different garage, that took the morning. After lunch we started on planting, ugh! Digging holes, and then Fran gets there and all hell breaks loose because she goes into panic mode. As usual we did everything wrong and now she has to fix it (since she is never there to tell us what to do, but always there to criticize how we screwed it up while she was gone)

Ugh, every muscle in my body hurts. Only a few more days until we get to have fun at disney. I hope that we don't run around too much and get to relax a little bit.

Can't say I've ever had moose steak. Does it taste similar to beef?

My step-sister lives in Alaska and my mother and step-father go up every few years to visit. My mother's complaint is always that the only thing you can order is salmon. :lmao:

And rest a bit before you leave for Disney, otherwise you'll be too tired to enjoy yourself.

Good Super Bowl morning to y'all!

We're not so much into the game. But, it's an excuse to try out some new appetizers! :lmao:

Yesterday I made a TO DIE FOR mushroom and goat cheese tart. It was supposed to be for today, but we ended up having it for lunch it was so good! :lmao:

Tonight's dinner will be some appetizers...we're having bacon-wrapped and fontina-stuffed dates, stuffed jalapenos, caramelized onion dip, chicken teriyaki and pineapple skewers, and maybe some oatmeal cream pies for dessert.

Y'all have a good rest of your weekend!

Good morning.

Lindsay I hope your Dad had a wonderful birthday!

Ellen I hope you are well and didn't lose any power. It is one thing to have a snow storm but with out power :eek:
I hope everyone is well.

Yesterday was the service for my MIL. It was a very nice celebration of her life. Nothing too sad more upbeat. She would have liked that.

We had pizza last night since I could not focus on 1 thing long enough to cook. It is nice to have someone bring dinner to you every once in a while.

I have some cleaning to do today along with laundry. We are going to watch the game tonight. I love the commercials. Strange to say this since I DVR the few shows I watch to fast forward through the commercials.:confused3

Tonights dinner will be Flank steak with some kind of sides.

Yes, yes, yes! Please. I'm intrigued by the name!

Morning, all. Happy Superbowl Sunday! We're not into the game, either. Instead, we'll have a family movie night.

Dinner for us today will be brown sugar and balsamic pork loin, roasted asparagus, apple mashed potatoes and Butterfinger blondies for dessert. Most of the recipes are from Pinterest. We'll see how it turns out.

Ellen - check in when you can. We are all worried.

I'm glad that yesterday went okay. :hug:

OMG. I made the caramelized onion dip. OH MY GAWD!

I'll be posting the recipe and pics! :goodvibes

OK I'll try and get to it today. I have to post a recipe for Brandi on my PTR too. I hope to relax a little today, but that's not likely once Fran wakes up!

We do the same thing, I couldn't give a rats a$$ about the game! Fran says she already knows her favorite, the dog with Darth Vader's theme in the background.

Yes, yes, yes! Please. I'm intrigued by the name!

OK, it got the name because after a night out at a show it on the town, friends would come back to his house for a night cap and a snack and this would often be served. It's almost like a Southwestern soufflé.

WFD? Fran bought a dozen eggs when she did the shopping for me last week. I only buy half a dozen and we barely go through those, so this has been a challenge for me so that they do not go to waste. I'm making Egg Foo Young for dinner tonight.

Maybe I'll bake a cake as well.

It's a lot like very lean beef (not gamey). But . . . I am uncomfortable cooking game rare, so I like beef better.

And yeah, there's a lot of salmon here. ;) Moose, caribou, salmon and halibut are all sort of free if you fish or hunt. Of course you don't have to order salmon, but I have seen restaurants where it is a part of every single "combo" type meal (such as a bento.) Sometimes I suspect that some restaurant salmon is really Atlantic farmed salmon put there for tourists.

Hello everyone. Hope that you're all keeping warm and safe...and I hope Ellen checks in too.

Well, seems like I've been a reasonably good gal this week. The WW scales showed that I lost 0.9 kg...about 2 lbs this week. I just need to keep up with the dedication and mental attitude! Sadly, that means that food porn is very thin on the ground from me. :sad2:

WFDT? We're having pasta bolognaise for dinner, appropriately portioned sized for me. I think I can satisfy DS' appetite with this meal and DH will be having a plain tomato sauce with his pasta.

Have a great day all.

Morning, all. Ugh :surfweb: I feel like death warmed over this morning. I am a creature of habit when it comes to sleep. I go to sleep on my left side, sleep about 2 hours then turn over and sleep on my right side the rest of the night. Last night I sat up to turn over and it was 3 a.m. I guess that means I was pooped. So this morning I am stiff and groggy. Like I said, ugh.

I am making chicken noodle soup today. I am supposed to go to lunch with Amanda and then microwave shopping with her, so I may pick up some bread bowls from Panera for our soup. That's nice to do every now and then.

I hope everyone had a great day!

Congrats, PIO!!! :lmao:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm up on this Monday after Super Bowl, but I sure don't wanna be. I slept horribly last night. :confused3
Anyways, at least tonight neither of us have to make dinner. We're having leftovers from our appetizer day last night.
Hope y'all have a great day!
Have a wonderful time!! Take it easy on yourself, and just relax!!! Doctor's orders!!!
OK I will take the orders... I am feeling better this morning and I am looking forward to doing nothing, being waited on totally by strangers and not cooking anything, having my bed made for me and drinks brought to me....
Ahh, almost time...
Dinner last night was a success! The brown sugar/balsamic pork loin was delicious!!! And the Butterfinger blondies were incredible!!!
Dinner tonight will be bacon wrapped chicken teriyaki skewers, steamed broccoli and brown rice.
