Brandi I have to :hug:. My sister had surgery on her shoulder years ago and the Dr told her to stay in the sling thing. He sent her for PT but not right away. SHe listened to her Dr but it was a nightmare for her. She needed surgical intervention to break up the scar tissue and has since had teh shoulder surgery repeated :sad2: I am cringing thinking about the pain you suffered, Gail has a high tolerance and she was sick from it. :hug:

I have Nola and Rylee today and neither is well. Welby had a 1/2 day but I told her to let them stay a little longer, Nola is fast asleep, still in her nightie and Rylee is laying under a nest of blankets on the couch so no reason to move hem yet. It is freezing and windy out there today!

I am going back to try to figure out Pinterest. i am a very slow learner it appears :laughing:

Glynis, you can defniitely use all white flour to make your bread if you want to. I do it all the time. I hope you and Alan feel better soon!

Janice good luck to Mr. A. with his finals.

Ellen, the nursery sounds darling!

I had a bunch more stuff I was going to post but the phone rang and it all flew out of my brain! So hi to everyone else!

Dinner last night turned out to be a parsnip and carrot chowder. It was good:

Not sure what I am making tonight. John had to fly into DC for a meeting but he should be back in time for supper. Maybe lasagna....

I have never heard of that so and none have been offered, so I am guessing I don't have that option....

We call it physical therapy or PT. :thumbsup2 Your Dr. hasn't prescribed that for you? :confused:

Not sure about dinner tonight.

Jen ~ I just got done with the Redemption series by Karen Kingsbury and Gary Smalley and now I am reading the Rose Trilogy by Beverly Lewis. Please don't flame me....either you love them or you don't. I happen to really like them. :goodvibes

The temps are not to get above 10 today. Burrrrrr!! But at least no snow like some of the USA.

WFDT ~ Date night - YEA!!!!

Make it a great day!

Honey, I read everything!!!! I'm taking your recommendation into account! :teeth:

And your temperatures are too cold for me. How do you even leave the house? :lmao:

::yes:: I think I would feel better if we all did that... :rotfl:

Today is better than yesterday, I just think I was hurting and feeling a little down with my progress...

WFD - Fajita's... ala David...

Yay David!!! :woohoo:

And doesn't wine make everything better? ;)

Glad you're doing better today.

Oh yea and WFDT - Breakfast for Dinner night - Cinnamon French Toast, Sausgae patties, Fresh cut Fruit and maybe some homefries if anyone wants them

I love breakfast for dinner!

Well, I have some kind of cold settling into my chest. I spent a lot of time in bed yesterday, just not feeling up to anything. No strength, coughing, etc. Ick! Alan is getting it, too, and that's not good. Any kind of a chest cold ends up as bronchitis with him. He gets home from work early today, so I think I'll try to talk him into visiting our doctor.

Dinner tonight will be Wisconsin Cauliflower soup a la my favorite restaurant Cafe Zupa's! I'm excited to try it!!! We'll have grilled cheese sandwich croutons to go with it. Yum! If I get ambitious, I'd like to make a loaf of homemade bread today, as well. Does anyone know if I can use all white flour instead of some white and some wheat? I don't have any wheat right now. I could grind some, but not sure I want to do that. Any ideas?

You take care of yourself, do you hear me Glynis Louise? ;)

Pinterest is my best friend, next to my wife. I love it. :lovestruc

Hope those girlies are feeling better soon!

Today was work. :confused3 :laughing:

Tomorrow should be an easy day at work. Other than that, I can't wait for this weekend.

So, y'all know about my new addiction to new kitchen contrapments, right? Well, today UncleR ordered us a sausage attachment for our KitchenAid plus natural sausage skins. We are making sausage this weekend! :banana:

(don't come between me and meat! :rotfl:)

UncleR is up as we speak and making us a shrimp boil. :cloud9:

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Popping in quickly to say good morning and I hope everyone has a great day! Tonight is dinner at church and they are serving BBQ. It's usually pretty good and Scott loves the stuff so it should be a good evening ;)

Sorry to post and rush but my mom will be here soon and I need to get a few things done. Have a great day!:hippie:

:wave2:

Alison - Those places in CA sound like the go. I'll build in a stopover in Anaheim on the way over and worry about what we do on the way back.

Well, it's Wednesday night and we had dinner at mum's tonight. It wasn't up to her normal spread as we will be celebrating Chinese New Year on Monday. So, this coming week, we're having CNY Eve dinner on sunday night at Mum's. She's putting on a steamboat and I sure hope that we have cool weather.
We're also having dinner at Mum's on Monday night. It will be similar to the food we had on Christmas Eve....curries and rice.

Hope you're having a great day. :goodvibes

Oooh, we can check out Carsland too! I hope you enjoy your CNY Fest!

Today it's supposed to get up to around 50 but later this week, 70's. :confused3
Today will be a busy day at work. But that's okay, because it's already Wednesday! :woohoo:

UncleR is making shrimp boil for dinner...one of my faves! :lovestruc

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Sounds like a nice day (later in the week) and a wonderful dinner!

Today Mr A starts his finals. If you can spare a small prayer for calmness for him. He is stressing, I think he will do fine if he can just relax. Today is Spanish and Physics.

Not having been around for very long, for some reason I got the idea that Mr. A was a young lad, but not if he is studying Spanish and Physics! :lmao: Good luck to him on the exams!

The temps are not to get above 10 today. Burrrrrr!! But at least no snow like some of the USA.

WFDT ~ Date night - YEA!!!!

Make it a great day!

Burrrrr! Sounds like a cold date night! Have a great time!

My dates changed to the Sept 28th - Oct 1st, when the Wine and Dine dates changed.

I will not be there in Mid October....:sad1:

When did it change? I just found the 2012 Jamborini meet thread, and now see that it has changed. That's too bad. I'll have to talk to Fran, but I don't think we can go at that time. Darn!

Allison Mr A is a junior in high school. I don't usually say that cause it makes me sound old :eek:

Brandy Hopefully you are feeling better.

Mr A told me that his school is experimenting. They are using the same test for all classes if for example it is Physics then it is the same for regular, honors or AP. He thought is would give him an advantage since he is in the honors class but he found multiple errors on the test. Even the example was wrong. God I love our district they have such wonderful ideaspirate:

I am making beef stew for dinner. It is freezing out and I need something warm in our tummies.

:wave2:

Well today has been quite a day! I went to sleep at 2AM only to get up before 9AM to meet the electrician. I feed the cats and quoted all your posts and hit "reply" then we ran out the door, only to get the call he was running late. So we went out to breakfast.

After all day with the electrician, I finally came back to respond to your posts. I missed quite a few of you and I'm sorry. :sad2:

But tonight we are out at a winemaker dinner. Course #4 is coming and it has been pretty yummy!

Jen - With luck, I should have some pictures of the steamboat for next week. We put the stock into the rice cooker; rather than having the special steam boat cooker. It works, which is all we care about.
Your reference with those chinese dishes are nice. Not what we traditionally eat at CNY; and most are readily available in the chinese eateries here. The long life noodles, the steamed fish that Brandi mentioned are more in keeping with what you would traditionally eat for a CNY dinner.

Janice - Sadly, I've never made chinese noodles from scratch. I have seem some people cook a steamed rice cake that is used as a substitute for the rice noodles; but I've never attempted it myself.

Good luck to Mr A starts his finals. Hope everything goes well for him

Ellen - Glad to read that Liam is thriving. The nursery that Marty and Stephanie decorated sounds beautiful!!!

Brandi - Physio or PT is offered to everyone who has surgery here. I had an emergency Caeserian when DS was born. I remember that the physio came round to my room on day 3 to check on my stomach muscles and to make sure that I was doing the right exercises. I think I even had a follow up session with her in her clinic two weeks after to make sure. I think this was covered by our Medicare system.
A friend of mine had her ACL done and for the first 3 weeks, she was in with her physio every day to make sure she was doing exercises and doing it correctly. It's 6 months after her op and she's down to fortnightly visits now.
Isn't this something that is offered in the US?

Glynis - I think it's a case of my mother has Chinese New Year well in hand! I'm actually having lunch on Tuesday next week with some 3D friends to celebrate CNY. We're going to go to a dumpling place (pot stickers for the US readers!)
Hope that you haven't got a cold. Keep well!

Nancy - Hope Nola and Rylee are feeling better. :hug:

Alison - I definitely want to check out Carsland in 2013! :thumbsup2

It's Thursday night here. We had falafel for dinner tonight. We just bought all the ingredients from the local Middle Eastern shop near us and made it up at home. Afterwards, I had the taste for something sweet and resisted pulling out some chocolate to eat. I grabbed a piece of fruit instead. I'm hoping that the effort will translate to some results on the scale on Monday.

Keep well all.

Today I am making something with ground beef. I haven't decided yet. I think I may make hamburger steaks with sauteed mushrooms and onion, with a salad, or something. I am going to get my hair colored this afternoon and will cook before I go, and this is sounding good.

I know I promised a picture of my hair at Christmastime and I promise I haven't forgotten! I just haven't found a good one to show you yet.

Brandi- Oh darlin', I'm so sorry that was so painful. It made me hurt to read your post.

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy day. I know a lot of us are under the weather and I hope you are back to 100% soon! Sorry to post and run, but I've got to get crackin'!

I hope the rest of your dinner was good!

I can't wait to see your pictures.

We don't even have a chinese restaurant here. We used to, but like all things in a very small town, it closed up shop. :headache:

I'm going to research long life noodles, so at least we can have something more traditional. :goodvibes

Mmmmmm, UncleR makes a great hamburger steak.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, last night I ended up with the worst headache I've had in a long time and I'm waking up with the remnants and a bit of a headache hangover. Ugh. :sick: I'm going to work, luckily it's an easy-ish day.
Tonight I'm making the cream cheese spaghetti bake, a double batch, as I'm making a freezer meal for a friend.
Hope everyone has a great Thursday!
Recipe, pretty please? :flower3:
I don't actually know, but I'll tell her to get into this thread.
I know she sautees the hamburger patties in a pan with lots of salt and pepper. She slices onion thickly in rounds, sautees those and puts them on top of the patty. And then she makes a brown gravy and puts that on top of the patty with onion.
Last time she served the whole thing with mashed potatoes.
I'll have her come to post. :lmao:
That sounds a lot like mine, actually! Thanks ahead of time, Uncle R.! Smooches! :hippie:
Morning. It snowed for a while, yesterday, but during the night it all turned to rain, so we woke up with no snow in our yard, but our mountain is covered in white stuff. That's where I like it to stay! Our forecast is more rain today, with warmer temps. Hooray!
Dinner last night was spectacular! The cauliflower soup was a hit with everyone, and I did make the 7-grain bread. It was delicious! Gonna make some more in a day or 2. I'll post the links to both recipes.
I have ended up with a nasty head/chest cold, so I'm juiced up with medicine. Guess Timmy and I will be staying home. Alan gets off work at 1:00, and doesn't have any classes today, so he should be home by 2:00, and I'm hoping that I can sneak a nap in when he gets home.
Dinner tonight will be some kind of eggs. I saw a recipe on AllRecipes for something called a River Omelet. Don't know what the name is referencing, but it looks really good. I've got eggs, bacon, tomatoes, cheese... so I think that's what we'll be doing for dinner tonight. With homemade 7-grain toast!
Good morning Ladies,
Glynis ~ oh sweetie, I hope you start feeling better and Alan too!!
Big Sis ~ I hear you on your kids. I am having grandbabies - I still wonder how that happened. Enjoy your time, because it does fly.
Nan ~ I have been warned that pinterest in very addicting. I haven't even peeked at it - I just don't have the time.
Sure hope Riley and Nola are feeling better.
Becky ~ Your soup looks so good. It is so cold here this morning - I wish I had some to ward this cold off.
Jen ~ It was cold yesterday but even colder this morning. With the windchill they are saying it is between -20 and -17. That is just to darn cold.
Alison ~ Thanks, we did enjoy our date night. We had choir and bells after so it was a bit rushed, but still nice. How is Fran feeling? I think of her often.
Janice ~ Seriously, I can't - or maybe yes I can - believe they are having the same tests for all levels. And then the mistakes - WOW:scared1:!!!!
How did he think he did on his test yesterday?
PIO ~ Good luck on the weight loss. You are on the right track.
Lindsay ~ I love getting my hair done. Just make a girl feel good when her hair looks pretty.
It is not fit for man nor beast out there today. Elizabeth called me at 6:30 this morning asking if I would take Ethan to school as it was too cold to take the baby out. My car said -9 and with the windchill they are saying it is close to -20. Just to damn cold. But the sky is the prettiest blue I have ever seen.
I am going to a new class tonight - Boot Camp. It sounds scary but I am kind of excited. I take a Zumba class twice a week and really wanted to add something else. We shall see if I can move tomorrow. Wish me luck. :lmao:
WFDT ~ Peach glazed Pork Chops, brussel sprouts, stewed tomatoes and crusty rye bread.
Make it a great day everyone.
WFDT ~
Hi everyone -- chilly here this am -1 but warming slowly .. snow expected tonight just a few inches.. ICK..
Hope anyone feeling ill is getting better quickly...
WFDT - Hamburger helper for the kids, a burger for Hubs and Tilapia for me!
Lindsay, I just throw it together, no real recipe. I use a li'l Worcestershire sauce 'n Liquid Smoke mixed in some hamburger meat topped with onions 'n fresh mushrooms. After it's cooked for awhile I throw in some gravy for it to finish cookin'. Yes, that gravy that comes in an envelope! You can actually flavor that stuff with Worcestershire sauce 'n Liquid Smoke. :rotfl:
...I know it's a bit late, but Tuesday night's dinner was:
Chicken Stuffed with Golden Fontina
4 boneless chicken breasts (not thin breast cutlets)
1 cup shredded fontina cheese
2 slices proscuitto, diced
12 baby spinach leaves [uncooked]
1 small red onion, finely chopped
4 t. grated parmesan cheese
olive oil (for saute`ing)
3/4 c. white wine
1 c. low-sodium chicken stock (broth)
In skillet, saute' chopped onion in a tablespoon of olive oil until golden. Let sit in skillet until cool. Add fontina cheese. Meanwhile, slice chicken breasts in half [sideways] to form a 'pocket'. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Divide prosciutto into 4 parts (one for ech piece of chicken). Stuff pocket with prosciutto and 3 leaves. Divide the cheese/onion mixture into 4 parts and stuff into pocket. Repeat with the 3 remaining pieces of chicken. Place in same skillet and, over low-to-medium heat, lightly brown each side of chicken breasts, being careful not to spill contents in pocket. Sprinkle 1 t. parmesan cheese over each chicken pocket. Add wine and chicken broth. Cover and simmer over low flame for about 30 minutes. Serve with rice. Serves 4.
